Furious at this legalised ticket touting charade !!
You are pushing against an open door with me on this, as it absolutely boils my piss. These wide boys couldn't give a sh*t about the music - it's just a commodity, and it could be watering cans or gerbils for all they care. I know there will be plenty of people that quote 'market forces' and supply and demand being a cornerstone of capitalism, but the simplest way to stop this is to make it pointless from the touts perspective. If you ensure that its not worth it, they'll go off to find something else to do to make an easy buck. You can do that by making it an offence to sell a ticket for more than the face value plus ten pounds. That will allow the profiteering tw**s at the ticket agencies enough latitude to charge their outrageous booking fees, but ensure that the profiteering fu*kers on eBay, and the scallies outside the venues decide its not worth the hassle. That to me is a better use of the local constabularies time than nicking motorists for doing 35 in a 30 limit zone, in the middle of nowhere. And I have to agree - it's absolutely scandalous that exclusive arrangements are in place such that one company controls the sale of tickets for a tour, and a significant amount of these tickets turn up in the hands of specialist premium 'we'll get you in' fee agents, who actually are owned by the agency with the exclusive deal. It stinks.
This is absolutely true , but parting a fool from his money is the capitalist philosophy -
Great being a very minor part of the competition this month - track is sounding great Kev - love the bass tone!
Cheers Mike I think this could be the first real life meatspace collaboration of BCers in this challenge

You are most welcome Mike, Do anything for a vote ........ Hell Yeah Do anything to get some decent vocals on a track .....Hell Yeah I really enjoyed it to be honest and learned some more stuff myself along the way, along with some great anecdotes from Mike of his nights on the pop with some big names of the music industry , all of which are safe with me .

Combining Bass Guitar + Computer Output Into Headphones
lurksalot replied to André Boström's topic in Recording
The Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 is indeed my choice aswell , and is what I use , so the connectivity I discussed is exactly what it will do , get that letter written to Santa quickly -
Combining Bass Guitar + Computer Output Into Headphones
lurksalot replied to André Boström's topic in Recording
Hi Drax! I do indeed intend to record. The thread you mentioned was forwarded to me yesterday - the one thing I wonder is if the external audio input device gets read as a separate audio output device? I imagine that these devices act as 'microphone' in a way, which feeds into my computer through a USB socket, and then gets output through my primary sound device. What I don't want is it being a separate sound device which I need to set as primary sound device in order to hear the audio output from my instrument. If that were the case then I'd lose the computer audio instead and would have to choose one or the other. They need to be combined, and I'm still not sure if that's the case most of the time. Thought I'd reach out and see what the deal is with this? I feel like there is something here I've missed... Thanks for the response , - André
You can specify the output of your computer to the usb interface, thus what you listen to can be from the computer into the interface and then listened through the headphones, monitor speakers or hifi via the interface, with the added bonus that the interface will probably have a better digital/analogue converter so that the quality is better than the computers own sound output. -
Advice needed - Home-Rec of Band without Drum-Kit
lurksalot replied to cloudburst's topic in Recording
I would love to do some recording of the band , but I reckon my chances will be no more than a portable recorder at a gig , the singer has a zoom h4n but refuses to leave it out of his reach , so I might have to invest in some toys myself . As for setting up a session I have often wondered about a minimalist way of doing it and I guess it is always good fun trying different ways of doing it , but alas I have no personal experience to to make your quest any easier -
this certainly seems to have produced some ideas , I am not far off mine now , though I am going to try and get some guest vocals on it , there is a very simple tune that has a traditional origin , so should be good for anyone , because they will all know it , I will just be trying to drag some friends, neighbours and family in , so it will probably be me on my own again I have learned a trick or two from the entries last month , and there is one thing that I need more of in mine ........................quality
-
I did research the picture , and found the whole thing quite incredible , so I thought I might do something incredible this month . I haven't quite got incredible in my armory just yet though
-
What is it with school and Latin , you have to get past this
-
This one is tricky , I am getting a street vibe with this , all this popping and banging , hipping and hopping , but alas this genre is alien to me , just like all the other genres.

Play of the Day : ‘Dance Hall Shoop’, from lurksalot...
lurksalot replied to Dad3353's topic in General Discussion
Many thanks for the kind review Douglas . if everyone wants a last chance to vote for this months challenge , tonight is closing time. -
No votes! No play of the day!.........was it really that bad. Ha ha
No votes is a tricky one , some of my best pieces have fallen at the first hurdle of a vote , I have entered maybe 20 pieces , but I doubt I have 20 votes in total , It matters not , but one day .......... Play of the day is unfortunately down to Dad being laid up with a debilitating case of the lurgy , so while he has had a great idea , is really not up to it at the moment , I am sure he will be back on form shortly
-
Brilliant review Mark , If I had to write one of my own I would think copy and paste would be perfect
-
Fair play Skol a great insight , but what is this 1 or 2db adjustment I see written , 1 or 2db doesn't even register in terms of hearing with me, so getting it any where near listenable is a result ,within 1 or 2 db in the mix is just a dream I have , and then I have to cut it out at 200hz , so so confusing .................
-
I tried the LANDR on mine for trial purposes , but I did not use it on my entry. I had already pulled my first effort and had another go at the mixing of it and just uploaded the result , so it is out of reaper as I left it , I thought another bite of the cherry would be taking the mick somewhat, so I guess I got something half right about it
-
well , I having listened to all the others so ,its just incredible stuff , I think my picture folder is in no danger of being disturbed for next months photo !!
-
To be honest Mr Smalls , I think you are taking the monthly challenge Waaaaaaay too seriously
-
In just tried it with my composition entry for this month and wow , it really added a lot to it , thanks for that . I guess mastering is another tool to the armory
