I like the look of these. If i can try one out i will probably end up buying. Really hard to understand all the hate they are getting though. People are failing to get the concept of "pawnshop series" when saying they are not true enough to the originals and use cheaper materials. Buy an older VI or a new MIJ model if it is bugging you that much.

If you could step into somebodys shoes for a time . .
Nigel Harrison with Blondie in the 70,s when Debbie Harry still had her looks. He always seemed to have a whale of a time, jumping up and down while playing his Fender P.
Sounds good to me. Andy Rourke of the Smiths or Simon Gallup from The Cure would be cool too. -
I really like both of those.

BKP have brilliant customer support. From day one they have been first class.

So after 15 minutes in this shop I bought this...
That sounds wrong to me - sure the dealer isn't just tryin to flog you a new case (whilst also selling the original Fender case to someone else)?
These are cheaper than some MIM models by a couple hundred pounds from some places. Fender have really made them very cost effective. That does mean luxury things like a hardcase are missing though. -
A Warwick bass’s serial number can be found on its headstock. Until 1988, it could be found on top of the headstock. Between 1989 and 2007, it was placed between the machine heads on the back of the headstock. Since the end of 2007 it has been placed below the machine heads.

I am almost tempted to get one of these. Sadly it's probably going to be from Thomann and it will be a "blind" purchase. £400 isn't totally bad though.

I forgot to add that i am also a massive fan of The Gallery. A few years ago i was just looking around their website, saw a cheap Warwick and thought i would treat myself. After a little pleasent chat on the phone i found out my bankcard had a problem, it was no problem for them and they would hold onto it for a few days. I went straight into town and fixed it and called again. By this time it was nearly 3pm but was assured my bass will be with me the next morning. 10am the next day and it arrives well packaged and exactly as described over the phone. Great service for a £200 order.

I live a few minutes away from Modern Music in Truro and they are brilliant. Andy will go out of his way to get you exactly what you want. If not he will give you a great deal on something in stock. City Music on the other hand is terrible. They see themselves as an upmarket shop and if you go in wearing t-shirt and jeans they don't notice you. Wear a suit and say loudly you are spending a couple thousand pounds and two guys will stick to you like babyshit on a blanket.

I am other fan of Slabdragger and Iron Witch. Monolithian are another great band who deserve a listen. A power duo of heavy dirty bass and pounding drums.

[FS] Warwick Streamer Standard 4 String (German made) - SOLD
dwh87 replied to r16ktx's topic in Basses For Sale
I have one of these in a five string. The bodywood is Carolena which is a type of Pine. The following quote is from H.P Wilfer at Warwick. "it is original a kind a spruce wood and it is growing all over the world.. it has a warm and good tone .. we love it from the Grains and the great optic as well." -
There is no harm in offering a finish like that. Probably a custom only spec with a limited production run to get a few dozen out there. The pricetag will probably be obscene.

Anyone got hold of a Fender Modern Player Tele' yet?
dwh87 replied to iconic's topic in Bass Guitars
I have heard the Tele bass will be in stores around the end of October or start of November. -

I think the Japanese custom shop is mostly non-export and on a smaller scale to the American one. Off the top of my head they did a run of Keith Richards, Jerry Donahue and John Jorgenson guitars over the years. They also do your typical variations on the J and P bass models. Getting back on topic this bass is a must have for Maiden fans. You will not get something like this for so little money. Finding a picture of Harris with it would be a lovely little bonus.
-
That is one of the only basses i would pay "silly money" for.

It is best to buy Warwicks used. You can get a german made model for a third of the cash a new Korean one would set you back.

The Shavo model has a 1976 headstock, thinner almost jazz profile neck, silvery white finish, two volume knobs and a kill switch. Tone is preset to his tastes. He is on the cover of Bass Guitar Magazine and talks about it in an interview.

I have been after a Blackbird for a while. Last year i saw one for £1500 which was a little too much for me. The refinish would knock it down a little for the purists but £800 would be fair to both sides. Apparently they did not sell that well and shops stateside like Guitar Centre were blowing them out for as little as $600. Now they are sought after and Gibson are doing a less appealing Nikki Sixx thunderbird and soon to be released Shavo Odadjian model.

The rockbasses have maple and rosewood compared to wenge and ovangkol on the std models
