  1. Just finalising a basic tone comparison video between my Ibanez Talman, the short Sterling, and the Fender uke bass, good fun. Hope to be uploading it in a day or two.
  2. Be extremely vigilant. I have bought fake strings via Amazon that were too cheap to be true.
  3. I agree with your band's approach. I did not say to definitely record with a click! But if you practice to a click every day (especially if you usually don't), you'll have a much easier job overall when it comes to the actual recording. I just believe recorded "life" provides much less wiggle room compared to live "life". I have seen studio guys fixing that "life" with a weary face when the bass misses those ones on the bass drum 😁
  4. I was thinking of sharing like a 2-3 second part, but I understand. I do not understand any of the rest though 😅
  5. As my friend in the studio says: this is EXACTLY what ALL musicians believe 😁
  6. edit: whoah did not realise I am reacting to something from 2023 lol How are you recording your mono bass signal in stereo, and why? 🤔 Why is the camera important? All cameras record audio in rather crappy quality and they are directly connected via USB, not a Scarlett. If you have a Scarlett, isn't your bass plugged in directly? I'm happy to try to help, I just don't understand your current situation 🙂
  7. I am no acoustics expert but as far as I know bad acoustics can't really cause a tremolo effect, mostly just unwanted echo/reverb/jingling highs. Do you hear the tremolo too when the bass is recorded alone, or only when played together with the guitarist singer? Can you plug the bass in directly into this specific Tascam? Can you share a short clip of said tremolo?
  8. It's not here yet... According to tracking info it's resting in an Esso (yodel pickup) next to Liverpool... but can't wait, this will be very useful for my hobbyist home recording setup.
  9. Practice to a click every day. Maybe you're already doing this, but if you aren't, it will make a difference!
  10. If you'd choose Reaper (which I really suggest ), here's the easiest way to learn it, Kenny explains it really well:
  11. Stringsdirect seems to be in on the sale game: https://www.stringsdirect.co.uk/collections/bass-guitar-string-sets?filter.p.m.specification.brand=D'Addario&sort_by=price-descending
  12. I think for this specific competition, if you write and actually play the bassline, then just use AI to get something to go with it, that should be fine. I don't do it, just saying 😅
  13. Amazing stuff. Can't wait to have the spare time to join these efforts myself again!
  14. Hey, I'm crap but I do have two cameras. I don't need to do miming to have multiple camera angles, and it's not hard to do. I'm sure Charles can afford 2-3 proper cams as well 😁
  15. What a lovely colour! I'd be taking this right now for this price if it wasn't a long cale. Good luck!
