I can find very little information on this bass on the web, the pick guard fitted to the guitars I can find pictures of are quite large and are the width of the guitar, it looks like my one has been fitted with a much smaller one a similar shape to a les paul scratch plate. Does anyone know anything about these historic basses?

Hi guys, I've just bought a Dallas Tuxedo bass from the 50/60's one was owned famously by Bill Wyman of the stones and he played it live and on record in the early years... Two questions... Its missing its scratch plate, i've heard of a company who will make one from a template does anyone know who they are? And I know this is a toughy... given its rarity and the fact that these were the first solid bodies to be manufactured in the uk.... what might it be worth? G...

Never experienced a problem myself by have seen some stuff in my capacity as a guitar tech, Many many years ago the bass player in the band I roadied for started running a crazy temperature, he was shivering like a jellyfish and ended up sitting on a chair with a blanket round him while he finished the set. He kept passing out in the van on the long journey home, he ended up in hospital with [b]Septicemia [/b] [b]He was in a bad way for several days.[/b]

Ive decided to upgrade my back line and a second hand Gallien Krueger 2x12 6oow 8ohm cab came up at a good price so I bought it, im now in a dilema as to what to drive it with... I think I fancy going down the GK route for an amp but I live up in the wilds of Scotland so trying stuff isnt possible. Thomanns have a GK goldline amp that seems stupidly cheap... are they any good or should I be looking at something else... cheers G...

[/quote] Hate to be pedantic but you only have four fingers and a thumb, and I dont know if you have a different technique from the rest of us but my thumb is busy elswhere.... a bass with more than four strings is a GUITAR....

Im in an odd place at the moment as well, I didnt start playing anything seriously till I was 40, I had played guitar for years before ever playing in a band but soon moved to bass because the usual... lack of a bass player. Soon got to love it. I've played in a few bands for fun for years doing the odd gig, problem now is that we have changed singer/guitarist for the umpteenth time and this guy has been there and done that... my problem is that without a proper grounding in bass and lack of technique, im finding it quite hard to keep up with new material. Dont get me wrong, i'm really loving the pressure but dont want to hold these guys back... would lessons benefit a set in his ways 56yr old? G...
