1. Lovely bass. GLWTS.
2. So I'm in the process of attempting a repair like this on the top of my Shortbass. I do have a hole with a separate piece of wood thats actually detached mind you. My plan- gleaned from youtube- is to stabilise the area by glueing bits of veneer across the split from underneath, clamped with rare earth magnets whilst they dry. Then spread a lavish amount of glue over the veneer, and drop in the wood that has come away. Leave to dry. Then, make some similar colour filler with some PVA and sawdust, and fill the cracks. I daresay it won't be perfect- especially with my woodworking skills- but I have hopes it will be playable once more, as these don't seem to be easy to get anymore. Good luck!
3.
"Better" is subjective.
If it said 'Wal' someone would have paid him four grand for it.....
4. That really is lovely. Superb work sir!
5. apparently it's a Fender. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-Fender-BASS-Guitar/192166752860?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D40656%26meid%3Df9121df2bfd74f1a922fb466974d657e%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D192166598000
6. Thats a good deal, that is. GLWTS.
7. I hope someone can help with this. I've been scouring the net for one of these- needs to be a white one with the t bird logo- to no avail. I've looked for that Aurora projects lot that have been recommended on here in the past, but they seem to have disappeared. Any ideas anyone? Many thanks Stuart
8. You have to love the jaunty angle of the pickup. In bad light I daresay you could mistake this for a Thumb....
9. Challenging build that Andy. In the immortal words of David St Hubbins 'I'm sure you'll pull through with great aplomb' Looking forward to seeing this develop.
10. I recently bought one of their 'Cats Eyes' branded acoustic six strings, which is Chinese, and I have to say it's a belting instrument. Cost less than £150 IIRC. The precision in the link a couple of posts above is about £850, at todays exchange rate (which is very poor) an off-the-shelf Maruszczyk Jake is about £820. Does anyone have one of each? Which is the better buy?
11. Nice looking bass, that Mick. Good price too. If those are eighties EMG's then they are probably worth the asking price on their own. A fine, manly pickup IMHO. GLWTS.
12. Are these the sought after classic's of tomorrow I ask myself? An awful lot of bass here for next to nothing. Have a bump. GLWTS.
13. I think it is and I believe I've already bought it....
14. Bought Ed's Sting Precision reissue. Very good experience and a nice chap. Deal with confidence!
15. Ahh, house insurance. I had a similar incident a couple of years ago with an acoustic. Tripped, dropped it, buggered up the bottom bout and the binding. The repair plus refinish came in at a rather unpleasant £900. My insurance company, fair play to them, settled very quickly. When I came to renew the next year I found my premium had gone up by..erm..£600 because of the claim...bit of a bummer really...insurance companies, you think they work for you because you pay them. Mmmmmmm.....
16. That is a fine looking bass at a decent price. Very surprised it's not sold yet. GLWTS.
17. The figure on that fingerboard is lovely. Great thread Andy.
18. Jesus Christ. In 1983 I bought a no name precision copy which some enterprising previous owner had a: Lovingly hand painted a 'Fender' logo on the headstock and b: added a second pickup. This second pickup was a rather agricultural device, which looked- to my untutored eye at least- like a six inch nail with some copper wire wrapped around it. The tone it produced (when engaged by means of a light switch attached to the scratch plate), could best be described as challenging. Not in a good way. That was £95. There was nothing else to be had locally for less than £200, which was a lot of money back then. So here we are in 2017, and you can buy a bass of this quality, Japanese made, in good nick, for the same price £ for £. Quite astonishing. GLWTS. Lovely bass for someone.
19. That is truly lovely. GLWTS.
20. Also, it's worth noting that unless you are somewhere near Altrincham, he seems pretty set on collection only, which is a right pain, and should thusly be reflected in the price.
21. Bloody hell. This one has legs!
22. Glorious looking guitar that. GLWTS.
23. Are there pictures?
24. £811 with an hour to go. Thats me out....
25. That, is some bass....
