1. Hello Norris, yes it's mine and no, of course I don't mind. Thanks are in order to you for 'introducing ' me to Andys work. What he's done so far looks very good indeed. It is a nice player eh? I was very pleasantly surprised when I got it, and yes, it is bloody heavy! Good luck with the telecaster, the guitar building course sounds like a hoot. I'd love to do something like that one day...
2. I think so. It's a walnut one. So that is to Musicians what tobacco sunburst is to precisions of a certain age, I've always thought...;0)
3. And here it is, a week or so later, stripped down ready for painting.
4. Aha, that worked, excellent. So, Andy had a look over the bass, decided it was in pretty good shape electrically, but needed a stone and a set up, and after some valiant attempts to patch the old finish up, a complete respray. Here is the bass being stripped down.
5. So here, I think, is the pic...apologies, never done this before...
6. I've always had a soft spot for eighties Jap basses. The Musician, IMHO was one of the best of the bunch. A really nicely made guitar that could compete with pretty much anything. Why they discontinued it is a mystery to me.... Anyway, I bought one on eBay a little while ago. I got it for a reasonable price, but it was pretty battered, cosmetically, when it arrived. I'd been very impressed with the work that Andy had done, on Norris' recent SB1000 restoration, so I got in touch and asked him to have a look at it. Here it is in it's original condition.
7. Amazing stuff Andy. Well done.
8. Lovely Bass. Have a bump. GLWTS
9. Nice cheap bass for someone. Have a bump. GLWTS.
10. Nice bloke, good comms. Recomended.
11. I've got a Shergold like this. It's lovely, suffers from a slightly weedy pickup, but really nice to play. Thats not a bad price either, IMHO....
12. Bought an NR T Bird reissue from Matt. Very good to deal with, bass arrived, immaculate, as described. Recommended.
13. They are Dimarzio Blades as it goes....DP127's I believe. Nice pickups, but as you say chaps, not stock.
14. A perfectly serviceable Westone, a prime example of Matsumuko loveliness, for £60. Such a bargain. Have a bump and GLWTS.
15.
The bass tha Rhys shows seems to correspond to the wiring diagram posted at the start of the thread. It should be easy to put it back to stock wiring but you may be left with a spare hole.
I think that the toggle switch has been replaced with a pan pot at some point...So to put it back to stock I'd need to replace one with the other....see post above...I'll keep you informed of developments....;0)
16. Thanks Rhys for the info and the pic. It is a lovely bass. The neck is a thing of beauty. Neal Moser has kindly responded to my Facebook post on BCRich lovers, he says he can make a loom, I could drop in, or, if the worst comes to the worst, as new circuit. The pan pot is an interesting one eh? It looks of a similar vintage to the rest of the electrics. I can't find a pic of a BC that has one though. Maybe it was swapped out at some point.
17. Hello Rhys, It's a neck thru. I'll attach a pic below. I sent the electrics to Kiogon to redo, but he backed it, and I've put the knobs back in per the template he made, which I'm not sure is quite right. To be fair to all concerned, I don't think the wires that are adrift were connected when I sent it to him. The whole thing is a bit of a mess, but a lovely bass to play, and such a great shape!
18. Thanks Dude, thats good info. I'll try them.
19. Thanks for that Rhys. There is no toggle switch on the bass- could it be because this is an NJ?
20. I would add, this did work, to a greater or lesser degree, when I bought the bass, so it's not a completely lost cause (yet!).
21. I posted the picture upside down, so bottom left is top right, top centre right is bottom centre left...ho hum.....
