@three You can't play music with a boiler and not paying massive tax bills is a rock'n'roll attitude. So you really have no excuses for not buying it. 🤣

GLWTS for this very nice bass, but not for me as it would look like I'm playing a banjo. 😉

It's an interesting one that...I'm 6'3" and it works because the neck is so long. Tiny body though...

    MUSTARD!

This looks similar to the one I used to own (could possibly be?) did you purchase this off Basschat by any chance?

sit back take a sharp intake of breath!

.....Wish I'd not parted with mine!

    BUMP!

I purchased it off a chap who bought it off a chap in Spain I think. The marks on the side are ripples in the finish- the usual wear and tear stuff you get on the lower bouts of guitars after many years. The white marks are reflections- not white paint!

Oooohhh...these appear very rarely! There aren’t many of them and owners rarely wish to part. A lovely example too (and at a great price IMO - check out current prices - even discounted at Bass Central, there’s going to be no change out of about £9k). Tone and playability is usually outrageous too. Boiler failure and a massive tax bill keeps me out on this one... I think...

Just for info, the knobs look non-original?

I'm not sure about the knobs tbh...They look quite proper, but I guess they might have been replaced at some point?  I think you should just buy it really, a bit of incendiary Clarkesque fretw**nking. That'll keep you warm...Who needs a boiler?...;0)

  4. Here is my SC deluxe. It's an early one, serial number 87SC4596 which dates it to 1987 which fits with the 'made in West Germany' schaller machine heads.

In the interests of full disclosure, there are a few minor dinks on it, but nothing too bad.

I've tried to capture these in the photos. If you want more pics- let me know.

It's a magnificent bass. The electrics all work as they should, the truss rods are fine, the action is low, the neck slim and fast. I truly do not want to sell this, but I've been offered a 20th anniversary model and the powers that be have firmly told me it's one in, one out, or else.

It is made I believe, of walnut facings over a mahogany core with maple laminations. The neck is maple & purpleheart. The woodwork is astonishing.IMG_0888.thumb.jpg.fe7d0907ea6c6b97a2d5e0193fcffe74.jpgIMG_0889.thumb.jpg.7901a41db8798847ca322b3778db49eb.jpgIMG_0890.thumb.jpg.11d8a230405c695657fb1b8a8aefb525.jpgIMG_0891.thumb.jpg.be6a68a3f492245017b9b1ef67b8e5f8.jpgIMG_0885.thumb.jpg.08a01ceda958df72766f00327f27cecc.jpgIMG_0886.thumb.jpg.6f3e9c3f1f3b04377e8da12e13adf392.jpgIMG_0887.thumb.jpg.83ecbf59884a517d665c372a6dd4160e.jpgIMG_0883.thumb.jpg.52d020ad93789af81c785205b7e41e1a.jpgIMG_0881.thumb.jpg.84ca9f4cbe94c5897e42f66bce34c675.jpgIMG_0880.thumb.jpg.d6be7fc8d2c60df5326ad7f0d198f341.jpgIMG_0879.thumb.jpg.3c3c0e678202ed636b6aaa2af0ce9d46.jpgIMG_0884.thumb.jpg.99a70b3ffbc16bf3e9da351c60e14037.jpgIMG_0882.thumb.jpg.01da8fa830e31164c6c3c5e6a5619525.jpgIMG_0877.thumb.jpg.fe0811fae6121831e19aa70dc9ad299a.jpgIMG_0878.thumb.jpg.2bbf4fe71833b7e7cfd5f93d8eaa7617.jpg

I'm happy to courier at your expense. I'd be happier if you tried it before buying. I'm in Bury St Edmunds most of the time. London at least once a week and Wales periodically.

Comes with a fitted hardcase-  American, by 'The Modern Case Company'. Can't say I've ever heard of them, but it's a fine case.

In terms of cash. I'm happy to consider offers, but it is what it is and I'm not going to bend much on the price.

  5. I've just got a TE Elf with one of the new 2x8 cabs. It's nuts. Keeps up with a drummer (in rehearsals anyway), and sounds lovely. The whole thing is about the size of two shoeboxes.

I remember when something putting out 200 watts that would be loud enough to keep up with a drummer was essentially, a wardrobe. AND a two man lift.

Beautiful example, looks in great condition. Serial - if it's the same format as Fujigen of the same era - which it appears to be - dates this to June 1978.

Good price for a classic MIJ Precision too - GLWTS!

So, whats the difference then- if indeed there is a difference- between the "Primary" bass and the 'Precise' bass?   These Aria's are generally phenomenal machines, the two I have knock spots of many a genuine US P that I've owned. A great buy at a very fair price for someone. GLWTS.

  7. Interesting basses these. I have a very early one- 1980 according to the man- and the shape is actually quite different. The top bout on mine is much more pointy, this one is quite rounded. There is a routered rebate around the top of mine, which has disappeared here, the pickups have moved (on the earlier basses the neck pickup was further towards the erm...neck), they have changed make (from Bill Lawrence blades to the Kent Armstrongs on this one) and the early ones had a passive tone circuit, whereas this one is active. The bridge on mine is a schaller, same as this,  so maybe the one with the Overwater branded bridge is a very late one? Or did they change, then change back for some obscure eighties supply related issue? Who knows.....

Anyway, fascinating. You have a  lovely looking bass there. Shame these don't attract the same cachet as Wal's, otherwise someone would probably have paid you £240,000,000 for it twelve seconds after you put the advert up. 😂
