1.
For years and years, I have always used 45 - 105 gauge strings. I was thinking about trying 40 - 100 gauge but wondering if different gauges produce a different tone. If so, what would the difference be?
i've just switched from 95 flats to 105's.i'll let you know. 50 70 85 105

 7.
I run my bass into an Ampeg SVTIIP pre, into a QSC PLX3102 power amp (3100 watts), then into a Tech 6x10 and a Glockenklang 2x12, sounds alright. I want an SVT still.
stacked or side by side?
 8.
There is something exciting about going to a gig and seeing big stacks and hearing huge sounds coming from the stage. I saw Loop once and that was a blast to another dimension, lots of speakerage and lots of wholesome volume. Mr Foxen are you playing anywhere near me in the future? (Liverpool)
thats what im talking about.

 12. people obsessing about frequencies and tones and other such sh*te that only belong in the communication abilities of bats and whales. people who forget that live music and being a musician is far more about performance and entertainment than it is about being note perfect and having perfect tone and blah blah blah.complete pish. people slagging stuff off.even if they've never used it,or only used it for 3 minutes in a music shop.or because its cool to slag something off. people who dont have their own opinion on their own gear.and rely on others. smug bassists. people whose attitudes and opinions on gear/tone/other peoples more knowledgeable opinions, far exceed any ability they have as a performer.or ever will have. people who forget that playing an instrument or being in a band is meant to be fun.a release from boring daily life for most of us.not a f***ing science project. ......oh..and caravans. they're just nonsense.
