1.
Definately OBBM - great cables, great quality, amazing prices. His site is www.bassic-bits.co.uk
Cheers guys, I'll give him a go.
2. After a few years of combos I've finally upgraded to an Ashdown Mag300 EVO II head into a Hartke 400w 2x 15" cab (which incidentally sounds 'kin awesome !!) I've seen adverts for hook up cables and realised I should really have a quality link to get the best out of the system. I've seen a few including Monster and Klotz around. Which cable would you seasoned low-enders recommend from your trial and error stories?
3. Wow!! I thought I was just unlucky with mine. Turns out there's quite a few upset guys out there. I ordered one for an Ashdown Mag300 Evo II head which was advertised on their site (I assumed they had the size), and after nearly three weeks it came. I couldn't believe it when I took it out of the bag to find it would barely house a pack of A4 copy paper, let alone an amp head! A few emails sorted it although I had to finally measure it and send the dimensions. It finally came five weeks after the original order and thankfully it was a good fit and well made. I will say though that Shaun was very apologetic and more than helpful via emails throughout the whole unfortunate episode, although I have to admit it hasn't exactly filled me with enthusiasm to place another order with them.
4.
Hartke HA200 4x10 cab. 240 watts. 4 ohm. Used but very sturdy, well built and solid. Absolutely no issues with it at all. Only moving on as I don't use it (don't use anything since my very recent band split...soul/blues bass player needed in South/West Yorkshire anyone?!?!) and I could do with the floor space. £65 or trade for a nice 12 string g**tar (sorry) I live in Barnsley but work in Leeds. Local delivery (not taking the mick) would be no problem for a cup of tea and a shortbread biscuit. Or even a fig roll. Or a custard cream. None of those dark brown bourbon things though. Yuk. Cheers
Wish you were a bit nearer pal, I'd have that and do you a complete Sunday roast dinner. Damn ! Good luck with the sale.
5.
you not passing Norfolk by any chance
'Fraid not old chap! I love a drive out now and again, but with every fuel increase I try to stay indoors more. Even thinking of getting the rest of the band to do some kind of live group podcast on rehearsal evenings....
6. Classic trustworthy workhorse, never let me down yet. Easily fills pubs and average clubs, bags of power. 210 watts of punch into a 15" speaker, 8 band equaliser, high and low boost, add a 4 ohm extension cab and it will deliver 300 watts, loads of headroom. ONLY £120. That's about 50p a watt. Bargain, even as a spare. (You NEVER know !) Might even swap for a sensible 2 x 10" cab.

10. Thanks guys for all the replies, you certainly know your OLP's and 'real' Stingrays ! This is the first Stingray (copy) I've had and was taken by surprise by the such cool burpy growl I've been searching for. It's just I've been used to my Yammy for a while and the missing 'sizzle' was a bit of a 'huh?' moment. I don't really care if it's subtle, the tone is the bizz. I might look into another 'pre' assuming the multi-plug is common. Cheers chaps.
11. Okay, maybe it's me, but my recently acquired Vintage Stingray EST 96S treble EQ control doesn't seem to do anything. The bottom and middle EQ's work fine. I've changed the battery but there's no difference. The pot just seems to very subtley change the tone a tad. My Yamaha RBX 375's treble EQ cracks windows at 10 paces and the 'fingers up the strings' grates the teeth where the Vintage doesn't do anything near it. Other than that, the tone is beautifully growly and deep.
12.
erm... thank you but... it's the 2nd of November!!!!!! coated strings can also get dirty. They won't rust, but get dirty. Ethanol / Isopropanol (aka rubbing alcohol) / methylated spirits all will dissolve "finger cheese" and help clean strings without damaging the coating. You just need to wipe the strings gently after a long session/gig and they'll keep pretty clean. In addition... I like to wash my hands *before* I pee (afterwards too) and before I play. That also helps somewhat.
Yeah, I heard that too about clean hands. Stops you putting the skin's oil and grease onto the strings. I'll carry on with surgical spirits then. It's still Isopropanol but a different blend. My low 'B' has gone dull, so here I go. Cheers.
13. I've just started using Elixir Nanowebs and where I've cleaned 'ordinary' strings successfully with surgical spirits, how do you clean these guys ? Would the spirit take off the coating or is there another simple remedy for wiping them ? By the way, may I be the first to wish all low-enders a Merry Xmas and Happy New Year !
14. Strong, black coffee...and walk him round the garden. Over Bridge of Sighs, to rest my eyes in shades of green. Jimi's beckoning us on board...............
15. Time to let 'old faithful' go. 210 watts (thru' 1 x 15" Black Widow) of window cracking power, easily keeps up with any drummer, fills pubs and small clubs. Very good condition, never let me down yet, just looking to upgrade to head and cab. I added a 4ohm extension cab (this brings her up to 300watts) recently for fun and believe me, you don't need it ! You know what one looks like but if you want a pic, I'll put one up. I'm looking for £150 although I'm open to offers, OR I'd consider a similar wattage head for trade ?
16.
Ive had one of these heads before, they're excellent!! I had to spend a silly fortune to get something better. £145? Bargain. Have a bump. Dan
I really want this, just gotta shift my Peavey combo. Grrr !
