1. So the guy has whacked out enough money to make the shop finally part with a known-to-be-stolen bass. HE gets to keep it, when it rightfully belongs to Pastorious' family. .... and he will SELL it back to them? The legal system wasn't really helping the family at all and Trujillo has helped himself. If he was helping the family, they would have the bass.
2. Brian Eastwood lives in Stacksteads (on the main road between Rawtenstall and Bacup). Nice to see that he's going to be busy, but I was going to take a Gibson SG (guitar) to him for a refinish. Bugger, it will take ages, now. http://www.brianeastwoodguitars.co.uk/
3. Try an Eastwood Classic 4, if you want something that looks like a GWF bass. Classy. Here's mine (left):
4.
What's the name and/ or type of the rickenbackeresque bass? Looks quite nice!
It's John Birch SCDR bass made in Birmingham UK in 1976.
5.
You could use that second bass as a mirror to signal to search planes
I've watched LOST too. My thoughts exactly.
6. Apart from the Alembic Spyder, which is a faithful replica of John Entwsitle's bass, I really don't care about signature basses. I wouldn't pay more for a nice looking 50's P bass with Sting's name on it than one without. I like to see what people use, but having their name on the bass wouldn't make me buy it. I would hate to be seen as a wannabe of any other bassist.
7. It's between these two at the moment:
8. Very best of luck in recovering your bass. Some people don't deserve to live.
9. This has always been a great site: http://www.guitarpartsresource.com/
10. I'm on about 25 basses and next year I am going to rationalise the collection down to about a dozen or so and also a couple of guitars. Even with that thought seriously in mind, I could never turn up my nose at the chance of one of these:
11. My band, The Kerbcrawlers in Wigan the other week.
12. A pink jazz? People would look at that. So, yes.
13. I have a Candy Cola US Jazz and it looks like I should get a black (or mirror) scratchplate for it!!
14. Streamer Chrome tone. Custom shop 1-off Thumb NT in gloss walnut finish.
15. I've done the function band bit. Masonic functions, working men's clubs, dinner dances, the whole bit. The lead guitarist in the band hated what was my all-time favourite bass at the time, because it was too ballsy and too deep for his liking. I used a Fender Precision Lyte and they are just great. Basically all he wanted to hear was his guitar. Any bass with a good all-round range of tones that you can switch between easily would do the job. Never had one myself, but seen and heard several - I'd reckon a MusicMan may be the very thing. Good luck.
16. If the bass doesn't make you happy as it is, get it refinished and it will get a good set-up at the same time. The alternative is that you would probably be unhappy with it for the rest of your time together. Good luck.
17. I've been lucky with mine. I've had to do prectically nothing to any of them.
18. I am in love with mine.. A Streamer Chrome Tone.
19. The Kerbcrawlers are supporting The Quireboys at The Frazer Theatre, Knaresborough on March 6th. Both acts will be playing acoustic shows. This is a slight change from the advertised venue. Details will be updated on other websites shortly. 20. If it's someone I know - "Not in front of the punters". If it's someone I don't know - "I haven't any spare strings" or "That one's been playing up".
21. If you can find a Fender Precision Lyte, they REALLY are marvelous. Lightweight, thin neck, huge sound. Also Danelectro Longhorns weigh nothing, are quite cheap and have a good sound - worth looking for one of the new ones. I suffer with a crap back too, by the way - happy hunting.
