1. Yes. Buy one. Never look back. In fact. Buy the Fretless I have for sale! Stunning instruments. Hi-fi sounding with amazing balance and build quality. Checkout the Roscoe Porn Thread in the Gear Porn section for some of the Roscoes hiding in the Basschat community - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=131198 Ive been through Overwaters, GB's and morethan I care to recall. Honestly... I doubt I'll play anything else now for the rest of my bass playing life. Of course, one mans gold is another man poop... But for me, nothing has that feel and tone. I've played all the 6ers at Bass Direct. The LG3006 is the nicest to play IMHO. As for the 5's... Mark @ BassDirect is the man to ask, he gigs a Roscoe 5 so knows them well. Shep
2. Hey folks, I have a Hercules grab stand, bought from Bass Direct a couple of months back and it's never left the house. One of these - (2nd one down) http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp..._Auto_Grab.html Looking to trade for a Warwick Rock Stand, the triple/3 instrument version like this (with a little cash your way!) - http://www.absolutemusic.co.uk/store/guita...nd-opened-25253 I don't have the space for a 5 or 7 way, so just the 3 way please. Update - I've been told that some versions of this stand don't fold and need to be screwed apart for transport - If this is indeed correct, I NEED to have the version that folds flat. There some cheap copies of the Warwick ones about, and I've tried one and had it fall apart. As it will be holding basses to the value of £8k on stage I'm not after anything of a lesser quality than the Warwick. Would also sell at £20 depending on how cheap I can get it posted - if it's going to cost me £7-8 then its trade only unless you collect in Nottingham. Double grab stand traded! Shep
3. I had a 1006. Cost £450 2nd hand. Felt like it was worth 3 times as much. Great great basses!
4. Cheers Jazz! Hope you're well. Need to plan another road trip soon... Had a few enquiries about this over the last 2 days. Still open to part ex offers listed in the OP. Anyone is welcome to come try this out... No problems at all. Bump at a bargain £1200
5. Bought some George L's from Chris. Top bloke. Cheers mate Shep
6.
Whilst we seem to share much in taste with gear, my wallet seems a little tougher to prise open! Doesn't mean i haven't got serious GAS for the your old Roscoe, and it's well priced, but other things demand my hard earned i'm afraid. I hope this one plays as well though! It looks dreamy!
Lol... Other things can wait lol. I know this one will play amazingly. Body shape, balance and neck width profile from my Century Signature (you've not had the joy of playing that one yet), paired with the tone and growl from the Fretless you've played (with a touch more low mid from the Roscoe Bart pups).
7. Hi guys, We are supporting... I expect opening to be fair. A promoter caught wind of us and wants to see u do our thing. One of the acts playing is 'Alright the Captain' who tend to pull a good crowd themselves. I'm pretty sure we'll cram a few in too, plus two other acts on top. Not sure about times etc yet, but I'll update this thread as soon as I do.
8. We're playing our live arrangement of Drum & Bass, Dubstep & Electronica along with some other great prog and instrumental artists on Wednesday, August 17th, at the chameleon art cafe, Nottingham. It will be loud! Av' it!!
9.
That's some burr maple! Very nice. A bit flasher than the old Roscoe! I like the diamondwood fretboard option too. What colour are you lining the frets?
Aluminium lines, like my current Fretless... They work perfect with the black Diamondwood. Don't fancy adding a nice Fretless 6 to partner with your lovely Ritter?
10. I think the MF-101 is not the best choice if your after a classic envelope filter (ala auto wah). It's a little harder to get to grips with and excels better in other areas (such as a dub tons shaper). My vote would be the 3Leaf Groove Regulator or the MXR Bass Envelope Filter... Phaser however... HAS to be the Moog 12-Stage Phaser. I can't find anything close for use with a bass. EBS DPhaser is nice, but not a patch on the Moog
11. Yeah dude. That top is going to rock once it gets oiled. Love the oiled look compared to high gloss finishes.
12. That should work. Then delete and re-attach the sheet again when updated. Maybe worth doing a test though as I'm not sure of you'll be able to navigate the spreadsheet well (never tried attaching one before).
13. Right folks, it's a weekend of celebration in the Shep household (1st wedding anniversary and we haven't killed each other yet) so I'm offering this now for £1200 collected including a Roscoe hardcase. That's a friggin' bargain folks... Take advantage of my good mood!
14. Why is this still here dude!?!? Awesome bass...
15. I did some industrial stuff for a while. Synth players tend to do most of the work. I played drop D... Used an Overdrive, Chorus and Delay. That was all really. Bass sounds were a mix of clean, grinding NIN-esque and Haunting Tool-esque. It's more about the layers the instruments create as opposed to having a specific cook book of sounds.
16. Not a bad idea. Say an alphabetical list of power supplies with their ratings followed by an alphabetical list of effects pedals with their power draw, voltage and polarity? If enough people like the idea I'll sort a sticky out... May not be super easy to follow though, loads and loads of posts and millions of pedals out there, unless every so often I take the contents of the thread and update a master list in the 1st post... Shep
17. I think it's going to look awesome - especially with the black Diamondwood board. As for making awesome music - that's the plan!
18.
After playing one of these (fretted though!) I can say these are simply stunning, neck was so slim! I thought it was a 5'er for 10 minutes! VERY nice sound, extremely P-bass sound with the neck pickup solo'd great basses!
It's all about that neck... A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Plus the diamond wood board just suits the Fretless so much. Agree on the neck pup tone as well...
19. My new Fretless... I'm treating this as my Shep Signature model on the back of my 'Local Hero' endorsement with Roscoe. It isn't really, but that's how I'm thinking of it so that's what matters... This beauty is the only reason my current Roscoe is up for sale. Spec... Century 3006 Burl Maple top & back Swamp Ash body Natural Oil finish Maple/Purpleheart/Maple neck Lined Fretless Black Diamondwood fingerboard 19mm string spacing Diamondwood nut Black hardware Roscoe Bart preamp Bart pups 1st pics in from the boys in NC... Top and back in place and body carving complete. Currently un-oiled though. When this baby arrives and my Century Std is re-housed I'll be a 2-bass family. This and my Centruy Signature 6 Fretted. Good times! Shep
20. I've been using my EBS HD350 & EBS Neo 212 for 18 months now. I even tried the TD650 & Fafner head but go back to the HD350. I like the head so much I own 2! And I changed my portable Wizzy cab for an EBS Neo 110. HD350 + 212 for big stuff, HD350 + 110 for home and little gigs. God I love the sound. Everytime I try something else I just go back. I'll lend you a HD350 for a few days if you want to give it a try as you only live 'up the road'. Sure, it ain't for everyone, bu it's sure as hell for me. I am 100% amp and cab GAS free.
21. Picked up an MXR Bass envelope filter from Mike. Easy transaction, top stuff! Thanks dude. Shep
22. I play my expensive stuff all the time... I played my Roscoe Century Sig last week at an open mic night... That's a seriously gucci bit of kit. No point in owning it unless it's going to get played. Soundman came up to me afterwards and said "That Warwick sounds amazing" - Oh
23. An EBS power supply went to Martin for re-housing. Top chap. Cheers! Shep
24. Sold some patch cables to this fine fellow. Easy 'transaction'. Top bloke! Shep
