1. I would love every BC member to contribute am become the future of the forums existence... BUT, I also see it from the other side of the glass. If I owned a drum kit, and I wanted to sell said drum kit, an stumbled across/was told about an online forum where loads of drummers hung out daily and seemed to have a thriving sales section, would I join to sell the kit - hell yes, after all, I want to sell it! If I had the time to look around and like what I find then I may post and stay, otherwise id sell the kit and move on. If you had a car to sell and heard about a forum where there were loads of buyers and you didn't have to pay any sellers fees etc would you sell it there... Most likely. Would you stay and talk about cars everyday? Unlikely. All that said - I'm off to the feedback section to leave some I forgot about
2. The Mastotron has a buffer built in - The Mastotron is effectively a Woolley Mammoth with adjustable impedance buffer. I'm I reading correctly to say you already have a Mastotron and want another fuzz to go with it? You've tried the Mammoth already but that seems a little silly as it's the same (to my ears) as the Mastotron. I use a Mastotron for my dark fat fuzz and a Tech 21 Red Ripper for pushing it closer to distortion. The MXR Blowtorch is definitely my pick of the rest.
3. Just finished recording our 2nd EP yesterday - Bits of editing to do this week and then a final mix in a few weeks time. So proud of the work, big step forwards in what we do, lots of moogerfooger action in each track and guest vocals (!) on one track from this rather talented fellow - http://duke01.com/ Excited about getting this stuff done!
4. I bought some from a local music shop. Said shop no longer deals with Hartke so they don't do the strings either. Pack of 3 sets for about £20. They were SUPER light... far too light and although sounded mega zingy when 1st strung, that lasted about 3 hours. You get what you pay for!
5. I'd just accept that as part of selling online. If you are selling an expensive desirable object people tend to think you need the money and so it's worth a punt. I have the same thing on eBay... I don't think it's a 'Basschat' thing. If you don't want the 'faff' take it to Bass Direct or the Gallery and let them deal with all the stupid questions for a small cut of the selling price.
6.
OK. Don't hold your breath though.... I will bring it to the next Nottingham bass bash if you like?
Yes please! Nottingham Bass Bash - That needs sorting!
7. I'd forget the Taurus idea then. The answer to everything is an OC2...
8. Our Helical Mind - Links in my signature below. Right up Johnny's street - so we insist on recording with him and he insists on doing it!
9. I'll ask him of he has any stuff laying around he can sign and throw your way. I'll rummage around the studio at the weekend and see if I can rob anything
10. Nice buy. If your a Pitchshifter fan you'll be happy to know that Johnny Carter is a good friend of mine (I've know him for about 10 years) and I'll be spending this Friday & Saturday in his studio recording my new EP (he's a recording engineer these days). I'll pass on your regards Johnny has a very similar Ibanez Guitar with a Matt Black finish (a finish they never offered as standard) on the studio wall.
11. WANT!!!!!! and I don't even have a car! Good find!
12.
Sounds like either a Square or Pulse wave is what you're trying to produce. A Markbass Supersynth might get you close, Shep should be able to shed some light on that though.
Hmmmmm…. Yes and no. The Super Synth can do most wave forms, but its not as easy as just 'picking a wave form'. While the pedal is very versatile you have to manually tune 3 Oscillators amongst other settings and as things tweak, the different components of the sound are created… All the sounds at the start of that vid are keys… and while bass synth techniques get you close, you're never going to get that tone without using keys… or maybe Taurus pedals. OC-2, Slow Chorus and lots of top end on the EQ maybe?
13. I want the cowboy dude to come and stand by my rig when I play live... He gives the performance much more presence
14. C'mon folks - I'm offering a super high quality gucci bass at almost half the price, given shipping options & offering a range of items you can chuck in for part-ex... And she's still here!? Part ex stuff... TC Polytune Moogerfooger Bass or Midi Murf Moogerfooger Delay EBS Neo 212 or 210 or 110 or 112 PA amp (nothing too high spec - for a rehearsal room!) Boss LS-2
15. LOVE these basses. IMHO the single most comfy neck of any 'off the shelf' bass in the world.
16. This has been here too long. PM me an offer... I'll 'consider' all offers. Will also consider part-ex's as listed on my sale thread for my Roscoe... Will reduce the price accordingly. TC Polytune Moogerfooger Bass or Midi Murf Moogerfooger Delay EBS Neo 212 or 210 or 110 or 112 PA amp (nothing too high spec - for a rehearsal room!) 4 string Status Groove (miss mine from years ago - for old times sake!) or other moderate priced 4 string. Boss LS-2 Shep
17. One of the pedals does (MP-201... Does every division going), bit another - Boss Slicer does not. In normal circumstances I'd chain it offend MP-201, however that's already driving an LFO @ 160 and I need the slicer @ 80 at the same time... The Slice takes tap tempo as well which is working 'fine' - but I'd still like to look at other alternatives
18. The voyager doesn't do clock division... So that's not an option
19. I sold mine for £75 years ago to a mate - Who sold it on last year for £500. Arse. TBH I thought it was good - but by no means as good as running a gated fuzz through my Moogerfoogers. I'd pay my £75 back to get one again, but no more… For that money I would buy a Moog Synth without a doubt… Slim Phatty would do me nicely,
20. I think the difference between the Jazzman, Stage I and Stage II is the pickup configuration - The Jazzman being Warwicks take on the 'Jazz Bass' sound - With added Warwickness. If I recall, the Jazzman is a slightly cheaper option as it had less Luxury options available - That said its still a damn nice bass. I've moved this to Bass Guitar Discussion so a few more Warwick-heads can hopefully fadd to the discussion.
21. You could definitely squeeze a Moogerfooger on there!
22. Talent is a subjective thing. Talent to one man is nothing to someone else. Personal preference also comes into play... People will never agree on something like this, it's horses for courses. Like me saying the Xbox is more powerful than the PS3 - its subjectional based on what criterea is important to you. It's the same as... Man A think Metallica are the most talented band in the world Man B thinks it's a racket and can't see how that 'noise' can be considered 'talent' Man C learns to play a Metallica guitar solo and his mates think he's talented as they can't do it, but Man D is a jazz musician and thinks said solos are easy so man C isn't really that talented Tal has enough of what ever talent is to of made a strong career out of it. If that's on the back of other people's success - so what!? That's no different to Stanley Clarke and his 'championing' of many inexperienced jazz musicians, until the point that they are now big names. Just because her bass work doesn't excite you or interest you does not means she's not talented - just that you identify talent in a different way. Tal's playing floats Pete's boat, and many others. Personally - I'm not a fan. I respect her in the same way I respect Mark King... They have a strong reputation and are earning a living from music they love... But neither inspire me or tick my 'my god they're talented' box (while they clearly both are!). Give me Justin Chancellor from Tool - To me that's talent, the most solid bass player in modern music (IMO) with a technical grounding that surpases most others and a rhythmic feel I can only dream of. TO ME - JC is more talented than Tal, Mark King, Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller and a host of others... But that's because he ticks my talent boxes in this rather subjectional grey area.
23.
Yeah I have an Adrenalinn and for TB303-type step filtering it's amazing. Also the LFO-controlled VCA stuff is unbelievable for the Taio Cruz/Prodigy-type cut up guitar. As has been mentioned, all the band needs to be tempo-locked via MIDI but with thebrokendoor we all are. Dan
If we get these gigs sorted later in the year I'd definitely like to have a play with the Adrenalinn… I'm finding I need to re-think our midi clock generator… The Red Sound Voyager kicks ass but only does 90-180bpm… And I need 80 now! dammit! lol
