Like the day the Tinmans balls dropped. (Not Tinman the basschatter... Tinman from Oz... Obviously!)

SOLD PENDING PAYMENT Up for sale is my Corvid Fuzz. Not many of these about, got it in a trade on Basschat about 9 months ago and it's been my primary fuzz ever since. I have recently moved to a gated fuzz which suits my needs better so it's up for grabs. It's basically a Jumbo Tone Bender clone with an added passive tone knob so you can flavour the sound a little more as well as a better retention on low mids & bass. Loads of volume on tap and it creates a thick creamy fuzz & works great with active basses too. Hand painted, chunky knobs & built like a tank. Currently has Velcro on the bottom. Takes 9v battery or regular Boss style 9v DC supply. Link to a review (it's this actual pedal photographed as well!) - http://www.effectsdatabase.com/model/myrtle/corvidfuzz Asking £75 posted. Would also consider a TC Polytune or Pedaltrain Mini in part ex.

Another Vote here for the comfort Strapp. Very very good. Seems to make the bass feel about 25% lighter. I have one currently unused, I'll need it in the long run, but am happy to post it to you so you can use it for a week or so and send it back when you know if it works for you or not. Drop me a PM of that'd help.
Is that not arse about tit. If it has a back bow should you not loosen off the truss to allow the strings to pull it forward ??
Ooops. Sorry... Long day. Correct! It would imply the rod had been over tightened so loosen it to allow the strings to pull the neck back
-
I would imagine it's a 'rectangular bit of plastic'. Can't imagine it required a name, although 'Cable Wrap', 'Cable Tidy' or 'Cable Clamp' might do it as well. I'd suggest contacting the maker of any amp that uses them (Peavey for example) and asking if you can buy a pair (explain what they are...). I'm sure thier spares department will have loads.

The backbow would imply that the truss rod has been loosened off too much. If you tighten the truss rod it will slowly create a forward bow which will counteract the back bow. Tighten it a bit at a time until the neck tightens (turn it clockwise). If this doesn't work, that could mean the truss rod has broken etc... But it's unlikely unless it's been over wound in th past. As for the threaded truss rod cover... I've heard of luthiers fixing this by using a strong adhesive to add a new screw to the threaded cap. I wouldn't want to attempt it myself but if you take it to a decent tech or luthier they may be able to sort it (or at least tell you if it's worth fixing). Shep

Any more hiding in the Basschat family?

The LPF is not the same as using the EQ, mainly because the frequencies above the filter are totally removed, as opposed to being reduced. Effectively you stop producing a full range sound and just create a concentrated sub. Cutting top end and boosting bass gets 'similar' but often unrefined and muddy. The LPF allows some clarity in the sound still. We're looking at some shows further afield at the mo so I'll keep you posted!

Octave, No... Delay, No... Fuzz, No... Wait... Envelope, No... Chorus. Damn it. I give up!!

I have indeed seen that thread... And on the 10th June you'll hear how I do the 'wobble' - done some serious playing with the MP-201 and the 'offset' perameter. Interesting results!

In the words of DanOwens... As an electronic bassist, the Low Pass Filters is your best friend. Low Pass Filters (or LPFs) serve many practical functions but the way they work is they let the ‘Low’ sounds ‘Pass’ through it. That is – they remove the high sounds from your signal. At which point in the audio spectrum they do this depends on the filter’s cut-off point, determined by the ‘Cut-off’ control. The ‘Resonance’ control creates a boost at the cut-off point, making it more pronounced. If the LPF is your best friend, the ‘Resonance’ control is their bad breath. Watch out!! We’re going to use the LPF in two main ways: the first is to create a static, ‘sub’ sound. If we ‘close’ the filter so it only lets very low frequencies pass and boost the resonance a bit, we are effectively turning the treble and middle knobs on our amp right down to 0 (or -15db as is more commonly found) and turning the bass control on our amp up to 10 (or +15db). This is the sound that will shake glasses off shelves and irritate neighbours 4 streets away. We like this! Remember to be careful of that resonance control though. Turning it up too high will be like turning the bass control up to 20 or 30 and can totally annihilate speakers, PAs and eardrums. The second use of the LPF is to create filter sweeps. This is where we move the filter cut-off point across the audio spectrum creating a wah-wah like effect (but one that doesn’t sound rubbish). You could sweep the cut-off over an 8-bar build or across single notes, the best thing to do it experiment. To do this though, you need to be able to move the filter cut-off whilst playing your bass with your hands. As such the sweep is usually done via an expression pedal operated by your foot.

Back by popular demand, we will be playing the 1st birthday party of 'Fresh Produce', a club night of Dubstep, Drum & Bass, Hip Hop & Electronica. It's hosted every 4-6 weeks at The Maze, Mansfield Road, Nottingham (Part of the Forest Tavern) and will be held on June 10th. A few Basschatters came down to the last gig we played at Fresh Produce (in feb) and Phil.I.Stein was even kind enough to review it! - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?s=&sho...t&p=1116401 There are a few live acts playing this time around including the amazing Basement Forte and the utterly cool Sleaford Mods so get your shoes on and come to Nottingham for the evening!

Only so everyone can find them in a search… is 99% of people call them Kettle leads and you actually want to sell some then calling them 'kettle' leads on the website is a pretty good call! -

Correct. Its a 3 pin IEC cable! If whatever you get your hands is not long enough, the place I used to work do them from 1m - 10m and they are pretty damn cheap as well… http://www.audiospares.com/home.php?cat=724 -

I've had a good play with the Murf… In essence the Slicer does a 'similar' job of the sequencer side and between everything else I have I can recreate the filtered sounds. You could argue that it could therefore replace a few pedals on the board, but the only reason I haven't is that the slicer has a pattern that formed the basis of a popular track we play and so for now at least it has to stay… I'm sure i'll get a Murf one day though Actually 2 LPF's would be amazing… one generating dark dubstep wobbles via the MP-201 and the other on expression sweep to swell in and out the wobbles…. hmmmm
