1. Hi Clarky, I'd suggest trying all the DI's as they will likely all sound a little different (power amp will be Pre EQ, Pre amp will likely give you the option, and the sansamp has it's own flavour). You may find one of the DI's has a natural sound that better suits you so run with that. Have a play in the practise room through the PA. As for the board, as it's relatively small it shouldnt make too much difference. I'd run the Polytune last as it will double as a mute switch. If you run I first, it may mute the bass, but not any additional noise the compressor or sansamp put in line. I'd suggest going into the sansamp 1st as that's going to boost/EQ a signal, which you can them compress when compression is required. Again I'd suggest the golden rule though... Try it both ways and see which sounds best to you! Shep
2. On its way back to Mr Goodfellow Shep
3. Yes mate. Loving it, very different and fun to play. Finding a comfortable strap position and getting these strings on it has made it a joy to play.
4. Agreed! Seller has decided to remove the details though so damage done now. I'll close this thread now so thousands of us that wish the details were still here don't make the same comment and keep bumping an empty thread to the top. May as well let pretty desirable basses be here instead. Shep
5. Fair price for this beauty. Someone should snap this up.
6.
Yes, it's the best fiver I've had, and I've had some of the best. Tracks wonderfully and has incredible attack. Without being all thuddy like a Fender often is. I don't know how Keith makes the necks, but there's something about the Roscoe neck that allows for a ton of attack without sacrificing THICK tone and good sustain. If I was fives-player I'd still have the white one. I'm not too miffed about not having it anymore, though, since I've found new love:
Love the Koa one dude so damn much. Prob my fav' Roscoe of all
7. Thanks for all the interest and PM's. Still just interested in selling or part-ex with a Roscoe 6. No othe trades thanks folks. Shep
8. Based on this thread I too purchased a set and they arrived from Bass Direct today. Perfect length, less sticky, better tension and a much fuller warm tone... Wow! A seriously worth while investment. Cheers chaps Shep
9. Lovely! That's the 1st White Roscoe I've seen as well! Lovely instrument!
10. Very tempted... Cash flow says no though
11. Is the Tone Press powered from the 'first' output on the distributor (that being the one nearest the input), if not, try it as it makes a difference. Also worth noting I had noise and issues running my diago powerstation into a gigrig distributor. Once I swapped it for the Gigrig generator it was fine. Try the shreadfreak with a daisy chain rather than the distributor and see if that eliminates the problem. Shep
12. I can't vouch for the rest of the MB range but the Super Synth is a nightmare. I'd suggest keeping it on it's own power supply. I now use a gigrig generator and modular power system. It's pretty badass, but even the 12v system on that failed the Super Synth after 5 minutes as the drain of the pedal is a massive 550mah!!? The guys at gigrig solved it but it took a custom adapter built for it. My advice... Stick with it's own supply Shep
13. This is sold pending payment to the man above.
14. Not sure I can add much more to to the above. The amp delivers stunning clear sound with stunning response to the top end. Peavy stuff tends to be more fat, tradition bass tone, the EBA will happily do that, but is really designed for clarity and full range performance. An amp does need the right cabs to really sing though. I use this with a pair of 4 ohm cabs but found it a waste as it's so damn loud, running it with a single cab saw me running this with the volume at only about 4! If I hadn't found the HD350 was enough for my needs then this would stay. The HD and TD amps are the best I've used by far and I certainly wouldn't be without one of the 2. As for weight. It isn't light. But is sounds AMAZING. Shep
15. Spec sheet - http://www.bass.se/2009/manuals/td650.pdf
16. Basically what Russ just said. The 660 is pretty new and is effectively the same thing just 'version 2'. Many stockists still have the 650 in and obviously won't get the 660 until they sell through existing stock. General feedback I've heard is that the 650 is prefered tonally... And having had a quick play on one I would agree.
17. Many a person I've spoken to feel the Roscoe Bart/Bart combo is about the best fretless tone about. All the Roscoe fretless basses I've played have had that combo and I love it. They have all had Ash bodies though. I've tried a Roscoe Bart/Bart combination with a Mahogony body on a fretted bass and it had a huge mid 'thump' without any sacrifice on 'tightness'. It's a very very good combination.
18.
Wow, really lovely example of a sixer. I have played Roscoes and although they make good basses I can't see why you would sell the RIM or GB in favour of a Roscoe.
I think it's about what just 'works'. The RIM and GB are stunning and very different. I'm just finding I love the Roscoe Bart tone and the neck on my Century standard (and other Roscoe 6's) I've played are the most comfy I've played. If the GB and/or RIM don't sell, then I'll not be bothered. They are stunning instruments that will last a life time. Shep
19. Awesome! I never noticed I'd phrased it like that. It's staying like that as it will make everyone smile. £1400 is a small price to pay for my RIM (bass)
20. Just a feeler this one... On my quest to go one fretted & one fretless, paired with my Spitfire 6 already being up for sale, I'm offering up my RIM as a feeler. This bass is a testament to Robbie's skills as a Luthier. This one I do love, but can't help but fall for the Roscoe feel and sound. Many of you know this one already and it was featured heavily in a build diary here - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=88195 Specs - 6 String RIM Marseer Custom 35" scale Maple/Wenge Bolt-on Neck with RIM-style slotted headstock Ebony nut Honduran Rosewood Board (Side dots only) Black Limba Body with RIM-style slotted fish tail & Matching control cavity cover Myrtle Top and matching Headstock facing Black Hardware (Hipshot O-Ring Knobs, Schaller Strap Locks etc.) and custom fish tail bridge Aguilar OBP3 Pre-amp Delano SBC 6 HE/S Pickups 18.5mm String Spacing Has a solid, dark, punchy tone. With the EQ flat it has a passive jazz like sound, tweak the EQ and you have a Hugh fat sound. This has more bass on tap than any bass I've owned - the combination of Black Limba and the Aguilar Pre is a sub-monster. There are a few basschatters that will happily vouch for this one! As a feeler (I may withdraw this) I'm asking £1400. Strictly no offers unless it's a Roscoe. Collection from Nottingham, strictly no shipping. Comes with a Protection Racket hard/soft case which is a great fit for this small bodied baby. Anyone that wants to try her is more than welcome. Shep
21. This would be bloody perfect... I am however in Nottingham. Fail
