Hey guys, The Wizzy 10 is rated at 250w @ 4ohms. I started a thread a few days back in the Amp section with concerns of running the 550w Micro head with a cab only rated at 250w. The general consensus was that it should be fine as long as you don't thrash it. The boys at Euphonic Audio also seconded the notion and actually suggested that the pairing is a match made in heaven. I have to say I'm impressed. The volume output is pretty damn loud even through that baby cab and it's super tough in construction. I love the Wizzy. Pete - I was hoping you'd not notice that I'd moved in

My updated mini powerhouse... EA Micro 550 & EA Wizzy 10. Sounds lush!! Pic of just how small it is in context to my gear in 'bass corner' -

Roscoe 'Local Hero' endorsment
pantherairsoft replied to pantherairsoft's topic in General Discussion
At the level of musicianship I am at I get out of it a sense of pride, recognition and pure enjoyment. I certainly don't get free instruments, nor do the fully fledged recording artists that are endorsed by Roscoe. Projects I'm involved in get mentioned by Roscoe and I'll get some some recognition via thier website and shows etc. In return they get someone out there playing shows in the UK, a place where they do not have geographic reach and I'll mention them on recordings etc. Will it increase sale for Roscoe? Maybe not? Will I earn anything from it? Maybe not. But it's a relationship at it's starting point. As time goes on, as musical ventures grow and google searches turn up my bands when you search Roscoe and visa versa then maybe either I or Roscoe will benefit from it. It's another way of venturing into a community of musicians without a huge out lay and brings new instruments to the eyes of audiences, musicians and sound men around the UK. I love my Roscoe and will continue to fly the Roscoe flag endorsement or no endorsement, but am proud to be recognised as part of the Roscoe family. -
Roscoe 'Local Hero' endorsment

Thanks for your kind words guys! -
I bought one of these from Mark. It's fine for slipping in the bag for gigs etc an suits my Roscoe and GB fine, some odd shaped basses don't like them though and just won't sit well at all. Like mark suggests... If you have space etc for a full stand I'd suggest it.

Following on from Dood's great news about his Planet Waves endorsement, I'm excited/chuffed/proud to announce my endorsement with Roscoe basses. I've used a Fretless Century Standard for about 18 months now after getting through more basses than I knew what to do with before finding 'that tone'. I have used the Roscoe exclusively with my Dubstep/Electronica project (www.ourhelicalmind.bandcamp.com) and it literally has been the secret to my sound. I've dealt with the guys at Roscoe on some technical advice over the last year and reguarly deal with Mark @ Bass Direct. After some conversation with them it was decided I'd be a great addition to the family as a 'Local Hero' endorsement... Being a musician out their flying the Roscoe flag both live & online, whilst not being a 'successful touring/recording artist'. This came at the same time the EP was launched and Moog Music noticed it and were kind enough to give us a nod on their live news feed. Everything was times right and here we are. I'm very proud to be part of the Roscoe family and would like to thank Gard & the team at Roscoe, Mark at Bass Direct and Stevie D at Moog Music (for technical advice and the promotion in getting the EP noticed). I'm off to Bass Direct tomorrow to look at more Roscoes Shep

I was a late starter... I didn't discover this until it was already well established as Basschat. Interesting seeing the origins though! Very happy to be onboard now though
Wahey! Roscoe have finally updated their website after 3 years.
It's been like that in terms of layout for a few months now. I'm told another content update is to happen shortly as well
Some beautiful basses there. I had a 5 string SKB a couple of years ago, it was a very cool bass. I'm maybe thinking of trading my Overwater for an SKB 6 string. Can anyone tell me how wide the necks are on the 6 string models ?
Necks are wide. About as wide as they come, but also VERY slim in my experience. I'm yet to find a 6 string neck slimmer than a Roscoe.

Glad this is back on track. All my questions have been answered from both a rational and technical angle. Cheers guys Shep

Sorry I didn't pick this up earlier. As you have this running in the Double Bass/EUB for sale forum I'm closing this thread. If I'd of noticed this sooner I've of moved it there anyway! Ooops Anyone looking at this should pop over to this thread - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...p;#entry1195444 Shep -
Yes. But conversely if you turn your amp down but still play loud through it you can hit full power. Lots of amps hit full power with a typical bass and player at less than half volume.
Alex, thanks for your input. Am I correct therefore in saying that my concearns of blowing my cab are quite just... As even playing with the amp turned low could push it to clip or produce way more than the 250w my cab is rated at. I appreciate this has been answered both by members here and by EA, the general consensus is that unless I'm 'abusing' the amp I'll be fine - however your facts and figures seem to imply (at least in the way I've understood them) that my cab is at considerable risk. Regards Shep

Cheers for the kind words Higgie... Truth is though I stole everything I know from Dan Ownes
You could always pop a compressor in your line for the slap parts.
Yeah... I'm just concerned about being in a situation where by if I don't have a compressor my rig isn't safe to use. I want to plug in and play like anyone else. Hmmmm
Yes its true, distortion is the thing that blows speakers. Keep it clean and it will work fine. Use your ears they will tell you if the speakers start to complain.
What about playing slap?? I do dabble... By nature the impact of the string often causes small peaks...
Use your ears & you should have no probs. Are you using the big board with this finger funk?
No no no... That lives at the studio with my EBS rig. This is a side project, and also used as my home practice rig. Shep
-
It will be gigged... But only with a Cahon and acoustic guitar... Soft finger funk. Kinda sit down acoustic gig/open mic circumstance. Nothing too loud/aggressive etc etc.
