1. At least I bought the Ashbory! An a top gent you were as well! I too have had buyers 'mess' me around. I've held an item in good faith, on the back of constant communication for 6 weeks for them to turn around and say they found another. Very frustrating. But for every sale fallen through I have had 10 great transactions. The feedback section here are 99% positive so something works. I guess it's the 'risk' you take when trading/selling via a source where no contracts of sale are applicable. Given the feedback thus far though I think it's fair to say you've had more bad luck than most, bit I don't think it's typical of the average basschatter. In defence of the chap thatce to yours... I have been to try a bass I was certain was perfect for me, only to not like it in the flesh. Yes, I did declare the fact there and then, but not everyone is as confident a communicator as me. Sorry you've had some trouble with buyers on here, but rest assured some of us are awesome!
2. Hey folks, I'll be playing this Thursday with solo singer/songwriter J Saverio @ The Golden Fleece in Nottingham. It's a night of acoustic acts and we'll be performing as an acoustic funk type (under rehearsed) trio. Not to be missed! Fun times, cool atmosphere, free entry. See ya there! Shep
3.
Very tempting, but I really want bass guitars only .
In which case... Bump for an amazing bass!
4. Wow. And I miss my Overwater soooo much! I was after a 4 string (as I have 3 sixers already), but this just makes me smile... Can't hurt to ask, anything here of interest (EBS rig & Bassline EUB) - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=129983 Shep
5. Agreed. Its a Rockbass. If it wasn't, at that price I'd have the lot and I'd sell them on
6. Thats simplicity at its sexiest right there!
7. Welcome! Hope you find the forum as awesome as the rest of us do! Shep
8. I am not excane - How do we go about trying your pedals? Not that s I need any more, but given these are your circuits etc I'd love to give some a run for their money!
9. Highly qualified faker here... Proud of my faking abilities
10. I used to own 2 older Status basses. A Shark II and a Groove (My groove was a sunburst one). It was the first bass I owned that had a really slim neck profile (something not modelled on a Fender) and it blew me away. The feel is great and the tone is lovely for rock and finger funk. These were great value money when they were released (around £600 of I recall) but at the price they come up 2nd hand, if you get one in good condition it's a real steal. I regret selling my Groove. They are awesome.
11. These are stunning basses that play & sound like they're worth 1k easy. Great fat punchy sound. I good combo of stingray growl and articulate jazz bass tone. Bargain buy this! Someone snap it up quick.
12. Blowtorch is good with actives... Most Fuzz pedals with a 3 band EQ are. I miss my Blowtorch actually
13.
Got an oc-2 and behringer bcy-600 on the way along with a digital mystikz ticket. Still wondering what a good fuzz would be for active bass's would be. I would like that really tight sound that you hear on alot of modern dubstep and drum n bass, but i guess that might be down to technique a lot of the time.
It's a tough one with an Active bass. Most gated pedals sound poo with active basses, and pitting one in a separate noise gate pedal often crushes lots of tone... My main 'fuzz sound' comes from my Corvid fuzz. It does have lots of hiss, but as I run it with an LPF most of the time I get away with it. The Tech 21 Red Ripper is more of an overdrive, but has an almost gated effect and loves active basses... I've had lots of success with it recently, but it isn't a creamy fat fuzz.
14.
been having massive fun today with recently acquired digitech whammy & oc-2 (credit where it's due Shep ) > octavius squeezer / source audio b.e.f. and occasional fuzz from mxr blowtorch. can't recommend it highly enough. soundclips in the near future, although i'll probably need advice on how to upload wav.s or mp3s to make the best of them.
If you havn't already try Whammy (on 2 Oct up), OC2 (just -1oct) and the Soda Meiser.. Huge fat wall of sound which you can push up to a squeal. If you have a delay and whack the whammy up full and back down super quick you get nice guitar note like wibbles trailing off
15. Si, don't buy smaller, buy THE LPF. Get the Moogerfooger and stop bein silly
16.
worth noting (i'm sure Shep won't mind me pointing this out) that the bass used is fretless. what contribution this makes would be better explained by Shep than me. but i gather slides and tracking issues are probably two good reasons.
Yeah the fretless is a big part of the sound. They naturally have a little more bass and low mids, and most octave pedals, the OC2 included track better with more low end input. Also the naturally muted sparkle adds a little Low Pass feel to things.
I have read this thread through about three times now & i believe it's the best thread on this forum. The information is awsome, and the way you guys are explaining things is simply top rate ! The sounds you guys are creating are exactley what i want to do, although i'm struggling to understand some of the information on here i'm learning fast. cheers guys. i've learned more about experimental effects on this thread than i have in years.
My fav' thread here too. Glad you find it all helpful!
Sounds like the OC-2 is gonna be a good tool to getting towards the sound I'm trying to get. I tried an OC-3 a few years back & wasn't too keen on it but I've read on here a few times that the OC-2 is the better pedal. I've been gassing for a nice fretless 5 for some time now. I don't want the "mwah" sound tho (eg: Jaco).
Bear in mind the Jaco' tone is just 1 fretless tone. They are quite versatile! Jaco used flats, bridge pickup and a boost the the mids... Or a least that's how I get the honky sound. My bass has a active pre, strung with roundwounds and played with a tiny boost to the bass on an otherwise flat EQ using an even balance of both soapbar pups.
17. We have a DJ & vocalist lined up for a few tracks. Current plan is to remain a 2piece with a number of collaborators. Face 4 Radio is just OC2 with the -1oct at full and the dry and -2oct off. That's it. The fills at the end of the phrase have my Groove Regulator popped on for a bar, but the main tone of the song is just OC2
18.

I'm off to rob a post office...
19. Amazing pedal... The ultimate tool for ambient and synth bass work! Good price too... Someone snap this up.
20. I have developed SERIOUS Wal GAS over the last month
21. Interested in a part-ex for a MarkBass LittleMark 250, still with Origonal box?
22.
I really, really enjoyed your sound on the "Get Money!" track. How did you make that bass sound?
Cheers, Get Money! uses the following.... OC2 - MarkBass Super Synth - Phaser - Chorus - Ring Mod - Delay. All effects stay on from start to finish. There are two patches set up on the MarkBass pedal, a fuzzy one used 1st, then the high pitched synth-swell used 2nd. I go sound them twice. The thing that makes it sound organic is the ring mod which Is set like a very slow tremolo and is having the speed constantly altered via expression (you'll hear it fast an percussive like at the end of the swells). The best bit to hear me manipulating the tempo is on the drum drop out half way through.
Hey Shep, What snares does your drummer use? There's some really nice snare overtones on 'Get Money'. Dan
He uses 3 on the kit. A Sonor Jungle Snare, a 13" Picollo Snare and a more traditional rock kit snare (14" I 'think'). If you listen to Neon Tangerine he cycles them. We play the 'verse' part 3 times, each time using a different snare.
23.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ingKH3s2JHg This guy has it pretty down for the warble sound
Yup! Good to see useable sounds from the SYB as well... I always struggled to get much out of them. That sounds fat though.
24. The USB interface prob has a very low noise floor compared to an amp etc. The same problem can be found with some non-true bypass high gain pedals. I always had problems with USB interfaces and noise, so I gave up trying. It's obviously the USB interface interacting with the Diago. I assume you don't use the USB live? Can you not just use batteries for recording and the Diago for live?
25.
tidy job Shep. with the correct alignment of settings, time travel may indeed be possible...
Tried it... Only works going backwards not forwards. Not all it's cracked up to be. I'll stick to making of noises
