1. We just finished soundcheck and we got a crazy vibration off the bass drum skin that shook the whole place. Registered as 20hz and it was painful. Whilst it is cool while setting up for a drum and bass gig I don't think I'd want exposure to it for that long
2.
is there anything that will deliver down to 20 hz ? for synth/dubstep tones a sub-sub woofer ?
To be fair, anything around 45hz-50hz still has a huge stomach shaking sub to it, not sure 20hz would be very healthy on the body at volume!
3. Defo not going to get to see you I'm afraid. We're on between 11 and 11.30... so super late... but being late for my own gig may not go down well Have a gud' un'

5. Yup Max is the man. Drop Silent Fly a PM if he doesn't chip in before you see this. Shep
6. Nearly time folks! Hope to see some of you there! Shep
7.
I'm working on my band's new album Friday night which is why I can't make it. I'll look forward to the recordings then! I'd quite like to try recording some of this stuff myself actually. Let me know if you ever fancy some free demos, I have a fairly nice recording set-up coming on (although my mixing's coming on slower!!).
Never turn down the opportunity for free recording - we shall arrange something!
8. Great bass. I do miss having this around... Great fun to play. Fantastic seller as well. Shep
9. Well if you can't make it Friday (we're on about 11), then a couple of weeks later we'll have a 'real' recording. The prospect of doing an EP with a damn good engineer (Johnny Carter/Ex-Pitchshifter) again and capurting how we really sound rather than these horrid 'mic in a room' demo's is pretty exciting. Shep
10.
I very rarely use delay, Shep. On my DL4 I have a simple tape delay, a heavy modulated delay and the Line 6 Sweep Delay. How/why do you use it so extensively? Dan
I use few types of delay in various lengths from short reverb type delays to longer modulation ones. I find tones to be realistically synth like if they do now instantly decay. Obviously at times that's why you want, but to be able to release a note and have it fade, or quietly repeat adds lots and lots of depth. It also means I can use both sides of my effects set up via an LS2, playing from channel a and swapping to b as the first sound delays over the too of it, giving the effect of 2 instruments overlapping... Which is a much more 'synth' than 'bass' characteristic. About 50% of the tracks we play are only achievable due to delay creating the dynamics. Sure it isn't for everyone, but for me it's a mainstay of my sound Shep
11.
Many thanks for all the info. At the moment i have a Ashdown drive +, EBS octaabss and a zvex fuzz factory on my table being made slowly. Im thinking saving for the moog LPF will give me the basic sound to work with at the moment. Or is their any other basic essentials i should look for??
Some form of LFO, such as chorus or trem to add some 'wobble' and depth and I'd say your good to go. Everything after that becomes luxury. For me, delay is important too, but I know others disagree with this. I could happily gig with OC2, Corvid Fuzz, Unichorus, Moog LPF, DD20…. which is about a third of my regular set up.
12.
Chris bud, thats one sweet GB! Enjoy mate. Cya on Sunday also.
Cheers dude... and thanks again for the hospitality on Sunday!
13.
Been listening to some Miloopa and it is amazing. Those showcase video's of bond on youtube are amazing. And DanOwens for future reference would you say midi is essential for dubstep type musi9c. It seems both you and bond use midi, but john davis doesnt.
Neither do I. I have been tempted very very often, but something about doing it all analog, even though some stuff is bloody hard is very rewarding. Midi is very useful but right now, not for me. My board is very close to Bond's, with the swap around of a few pedals, but missing the midi. Useful (and a very powerful tool) - yes. Essential - no.
14. Dans recordings ate awesome. Ours are a mic in a room! Lol Actually it was your review of the LPF that finally persuaded me to add it to my set up. Thank god I did!
15.
on this.. i've fallen in love with the source audio bass envelope filter. especially in 'down' mode. octave and fuzz then bef = massive fun.
Looking forward to trying this on Tuesday bud. I'll stick it in my signal chain in place of the GR and see if it lives up to your hype
16. Checkout Miloopa as well. Bond is a genius on bass. If you search 'Bond on bass' on YouTube, or look back through this thread you'll find some stuff. I'm in the studio doing an EP between 12th and 18th Feb so ask in a few weeks there are some bad demo recordings at www.myspace.com/ourhelicalmind but they ate lacking much of the 'sub' sound (which the new recordings won't lack). £225 is a good price. Hot Rox usually have them in stock around the corner from me and the have an online store.
17. The MP-201 is amazing. It works with most pedals as an expression pedal, but can be used as an LFO (and envelope generator with the V2 firmware upgrade) with any pedals that work off CV... And to be honest there arnt many pedal builders that use CV. It's an amazing bit of kit, and to be honest I only touch the surface, using 4 presets out of 99. Being able to change 4 parameters with one pedal is pretty special though.
18. Tbh, the Moog one is the only one worth using for live applications as others I've seen don't have the flexibilty to be controlled like the Moog one does. Pair it with a Moog MP-201 for more LPF fun that you know what to do with. If your near Nottingham this Friday let me know as I'll be using mine live.
19. Bump this to the top. You seemto have this listed twice, I've closed the other thread so please just stick to the one sale thread. Cheers Shep
20. Welcome to Basschat bud. Hopefully you'll find a wealth of info here. Try the Theory & Technique forum in regards to the 12 bar blues walking lines! Shep
21. Jazz had better snap this up so I can have a play when I see him next! Deal of the century! Shep
22. Been a few tweaks to my board... The Moogerfooger Freqbox has gone, in it's place is a Digitech Whammy IV plus a Boss NS-2 to get shot of some unwanted hiss. Few changes to the signal path as well. All good. Pics soon Shep
23. It's not a huge jump. But noticable within my rather intricate effects setup. I'd just be interested to see if blending in the dry signal would smooth that out.
24. Been using mine for a while now. Best filter I've used. I'd like to try the GR/2 though for the blend and I find the GR does boost the signal volume a tiny bit.
25. I am advised we shall be gracing the stage little after 11. The doors are at 9 and the night apparently gets busy from 10-10:30. We Shoul therefore be on around 11 and then DJ's will take over until 3am (long after I'm already home and tucked up in bed!) Shep
