1.
Seriously looking for a ken smith bt6 black tiger if anyone knows of any ?
http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp...TH_BSR_6MS.html Maybe contact Mark and see what he'll give you for the Wal?
2. Spec was settled on May 15th. Bass was complete Nov 7th… I'd say that was pretty good for any custom build! Shep
3. Another easy transaction. Great Basschatter Cheers bud Shep
4. That's prob the only Jazz styled bass other than the GB Spitfire that I've ever loved. Beautiful finish!
5. Nerve (Jojo Mayer's Nerve, not the punk band) - John Davis on bass Miloopa (the album Unicode) - Bond on bass Jamiroquai - Stu Zenders bass work Roni Size - many recordings are programmer bass, but his band do it live (bassist with blonde dreads, not sure of his name) and it sounds just like the album work. That's dubstep, ambient, electronica, pop and funk & hip hop genres covered with loads of synth bass... Get listening! Check out the demo recordings from my 'band' (link in my sig)... Everything that's not a drum beat there is played on bass.
6. Cheers bud. The finished article is a work of art. Robbie's a very talented builder with a fantastic eye for detail. Shep
7. Jon Stockman uses a Tech 21 XXL but as part of a rather intricate set up to create his monster dirty sound. The XXL is certainly a strong flavour in the sound. But of you saw his pedal set up - - you'd see he runs multiple pedals at once, as well as a heavily driven ampeg sound to get it. Id describe the XXL as a very aggressive overdrive rather than a distortion as it's often called. I've owned and sold 2, but am sure I'll go back to it again one day.
8. I used to have one. Fantastic for the price. Light and compact... Not a huge tonal range bit certainly enough for an amp with that spec. Suitable for very small pub gigs/open mic. Struggles against a LOUD drummer but still remains the best small amp about when you consider price and spec. EBS Session 60 is worth a look as well (prob the 2nd best small amp!) Shep
9. I do this, but into a Samsung. Mac - VGA cable into a VGA - HDMI You'll need to play with the screen settings in the mac to get a great fit... 720 or 1080 is a bit small font wise for sofa distance viewing but there are loads of options and you'll find one that works. My dad did the same as well, but his LG wouldn't accept a signal from the mac at all. He went and bought a Samsung. Shep
10. I have a Wizzy 10. The sticker on the back says 250w @ 4 ohms.
11. Harvey, Glad you got pictures up. No ones being nasty... I think many people may be taken back by a 10k bass, esspecially wen you hunt around the internet and find general valuations on CT basses to be about 3.5-4k... but nothing nasty. As I am no expert in Carl Thompson basses maybe you could educate us on what makes this different and hence more valuable. You mention the 'Stanley Clarke scroll'... What is it? The message about being right - that is the users signature which appears at the bottom of every post they put up, not aimed at you... much like my list of basses and amps you'll see below this post. You can have your own forum signature by clicking 'My Controls' under the Basschat banner and selecting the options within there. Please take sarcasm and humour here with a pinch of salt... Apologies if any basschatters have made you feel uncomfortable. Rest assured we don't doubt the legitimacy of your bass. If you have no look here it may be worth contacting the Gallery in London who always take an interest in rare and expensive basses and would usually be happy to sell in the shop for a small commission cut.
12. Damn I want that noisebox... Off to check bank balance!
13. Give Phil.I.stein a shout. I know he has/had one.
14. Awesome bass... I've played this very on and the EBS pre adds extra umph. Amazing slap tone! Jazz is a top dude as well. Someone needs to snap this bargain up.
15. My Jaws just hit the floor! I wanted your Thumb Fretless 6... Now I want this sooooo bad. Price is outa my range... But my god this deserves to go to a good home!
16. Calling J.R.Bass... Think he was after similar - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=111499
17. I appreciate this thread is 99% good content, and some valid points have been raised... But like a few other recent threads there are hints of personal opinion being 'enforced' rather than voiced. Please please please keep it clean guys. You don't have to agree to discuss. Cheers folks Shep
18. Hi Harvey, Attaching pics to the forum is reliant on them being under a certain size. The easiest way to get good large pictures up is to open a free account with a site like Photobucket (which I use) or flickr etc... You upload the pics to that site and they give you a link to copy and paste onto forums to see the picture Shep
19. Guys - It's just an opinion. Your both allowed to have different points of view and your both allowed to voice them. Which you've done. It doesn't need further 'debate'
20.
sh*te? Nope. Personal taste I guess. I think it's the variety that alot would struggle to pull off. He's ideal for that seat I reckon. But what do I know.
Difference is that you are a drummer! In fact I still think of you as a drummer rather than a bassist that's how we met a mere 11 years ago. Guess bassists that don't play drums look for something slighty different. Unfortunately my opinion is with the masses here
21. Tommy The Cat by Primus. All hail Les Claypool!
22. 1st year in ages that I didn't watch. I only found out this year that it's not live and it ruined it all for me! I know it's common knowledge after everyone I've discussed that fact with over the last few weeks has had the same response - "How didn't you know it wasn't live!?" I really didn't know. I hate the fact they all celebrate and countdown to New Year falsely... And it's filmed mid November! It shouldn't bother me... But it has so much I doubt I'll watch I again!
23.
That's stunning, I won't lie.
Cheers bud
Nice one Shep it looks amazing. At some point when I am back in notts we need to have an erb bass bash.
Sounds like a plan dude! When I have this in my hands I'll take boat load of nice pics and pop it in the GB Porn thread as well...
24.
Just been playing the Evo - I do love 6 string basses. Although, I try and give the other two basses attention, but it's hard. I imagine it's like having a favorite child, but not being allowed to let the other know....
I don't really have that issue as I ONLY own 6er's now! And until the GB arrives just 1 fretted and 1 fretless so both have thier place. Love your Evo though! I do miss my Overwater. I loved the tone and the looks. But the weight was sooooo impractical I couldn't play it standing up for more than 10mins before I was in pain. 12.7lbs Being my 1st custom build though it will always have a place in my heart
Nice one dude!
Cheers man. Can't wait to get my hands on this now! Very happy with how it looks. The 'Autum' burst is great. I told him Spalted would look great
25.
Looking good bud. What a great way to finish off 2010 and a new arrival for 2011! Stu
Yeah. Just need to persuade you to part with that Evo6 and my collection will be spot on
