1. Dan... When's the next blog installment?
2. Big bump! 212 cab requirement has been sorted. Still interested in compact cabs and lightweight combos. Cash is king though! May consider a 4 string slap monster or an EUB... But this is just a 'feeler' of a trade idea Shep
3.
Which year?!
May. Ha. Keep dreaming
4. Very interested... Does it run on standard boss style power supply and happy to be daisy chained (via my Diago powerstation) If the answer is yes, then PM me as it's a done deal
5. TRADED Hey guys, Have a perfectly great Tech 21 XXL Bass Edition (Ther Purple one), which is a great, aggressive Overdrive with interesting 'Warp' control which effect the way notes sustain and fade. The pedal is great and I'd keep it if I was doing more rock-metal stuff. I'm looking for trades on something less overdrive and more fat fuzz to run with my synth set up... W.H.Y Shep
6. Stunningly well made... Up there with the best and far more reasonable than you'd think!
7. Definatley the most defined and solid sounding B string I've ever played. I thought my old Overwater would never be beaten for the B but this has topped it!
8. After a couple of weeks I can honestly say this bass is a beast!! Absolutely stunning feel and tone to die for. The flat EQ sound is not as instantly striking as some other basses I've played but the minutest turn of the dials and it suddenly explodes. Literally a 2-3% turn of the bass control (tiny movement) and the floor below you starts to crumble! So so so so so so so so happy with this instrument!
9. Still trying to find a way to afford this... Want it soooo bad... Wish I had another 6er to spare! Ha.
10. Quite often this is actually the string rattling in the nut as the string is slightly lighter gauge than the slot in the nut. A good bass can pass the vibrations through the body and they can be amplified to the ear sounding like they come from totally different places. I only say this as I was convinced for 6 months I had the same issue. Play the string as you usually do to cause the rattle, but softly put a tiny bit of pressure on the string behind the nut (between nut and machine head) to ensure the string is bot moving in the nut. If it eliminates the rattle it's the same issue I had... Use a slightly heavier string. If it doesnt stop the rattle then please disregard everything I said as I'm clearly wrong!
11.
Bump for a great amp
Chera bud. And I agree... It is awesome. Ironically I've had 4 PM's from people on here for no purpose but to say 'Dude, the Fafner is SOOOOOOO much better than the TD650... Don't do it'. I'm not usually swayed by the masses, but this time I'm thinking maybe it's not going to get much better than this or big gigs...
12. THIS HAS NOW BEEN TRADED FOR A TD650 Feeler here guys. I own both a Fafner & a HD350, recently the 350's been getting more use, and I've always fancied trying a TD650... So... I'm offering my Fafner (which don't come up often!) for trade with a TD650 as I hear a few 650 owners wish they had bought a Fafner an visa versa, OR sale at £650 collected complete with 4u Gator Rack Case. NO SHIPPING! too delicate and heavy to trust it with a courier. There is a TD650 for sale on Basschat at the no, if that sells then this will likely be withdrawn until another comes up! Amp was serviced by Bernie Goodfellow in Jan and was declared perfect still. I changed the valve anyway for a brand new one anyway as I'm particular about stuff like that. While he serviced the head I had Bernie do a minor mod for me and replace the red bulbs (which have a reputation or blowing ALOT!) with some bright blue LED's, much more in keeping with the EBS look. Never been pushed hard and is as amazing as you expect. Seen in the middle here... That's the case included but the tuner is not for sale... Atop my rig... Blue light... Shep
13. I played a gig where our drummer forgot his bass drum pedal! Lol. He played all the bass drum strikes on the floor Tom, altering the actual use of his hands quite a bit. Needless to say... We sounded sh*te
14. It's quite odd actually... One of the few bassists that really inspired me to play more chords and play higher up the neck is Justin Chancellor from Tool. He is also strictly a 4 string player who stands by the 'why would I need more than 4 strings' mentality. Figure that one out!
15.
Great vid - alas I expect the bass wouldn't sound that good in my hands !
The vid is a fairly accurate representation of the natural 'flat EQ' tone of the bass (fantastic pups and pre!). A very 'funk-esque' tone. I was surprised when I first picked it up... Usually video demo's sound nothing like the bass/amp/pedal it's showing... I've had a large amount of PM's regarding trades with other basses... Sorry people but I'm not interested in other basses at all. It has to be a sale, or part-ex trade involving one of the cabs or combos listed in the 1st post... UPDATE - Will include shipping within mainland UK...
16. I'd be very happy with that for £500. The TRB range set a bench mark for professional 6 string basses. Unless you fall in love with a specific bass, you'll find that rather than just being a good 'introduction' to 6ers, I think you'll find you have actually bought a serious bit of kit that will fulfil pretty much every need you'll ever have.
17.
(Are ERB players just frustrated guitarists? Just go get a baritone guitar if you need those high notes & want to play chords - leave the low zone to those who like groove!!)
A little unfair... But each to there own. I consider myself a 'Groove' player, but being able to play around the 2-3rd fret on the B or E strings and pick a quick note down there on the C string is a lot easier and has less room for error than doing a Flea style move and shooting down to the 14th fret on my G to pick and then fly right back to the 2nd on the E again... And repeat!
18. Wow... Thats awesome. There is little can wise outside of the EBS range that ever interests me... But that's on the list!!!
19.
If i had to choose right now like Shep i would go for a 6. However I play five string in one my bands that doesn't warrent the 6 string and i love playing 4 string too. Like Shep says its all about using the extra notes in the right place not shoe horn them in. I am planning to go to a 7 string soon though as my guitarists are going to 8 strings.
Amen bro! The 6 string still has the same strings as the 4 string as well! I actually find mr Roscoe & RIM necks comfort than most 4 string necks due to the extreme thiness and flatness of the profile as having the extra width means a good luthier can do without thickness for structural support... It was Oakbear at Nottingham Bass bash that found it amusing that I thought his 6 string Ritter had a thick neck (as they are considered slim in the 6 world)... Then he picked up my Roscoe. It was prob the slimmest neck in the room!
20. I had a Deep Impact. Bought it for £50. Used it for a year. Thought it was poo next to my mates Boss Syb-3... Sold it for £80 and recall feeling chuffed for making profit from something I thought was a bit Cack. Oh how foolish was I....
