1. Stunning dude! Absolutley gorgeous!!! (you might want to edit the title though... )
2. Your best asking Robbie for a quote/price as there are so many options with wood, pickups and preamps... but I'll PM you a ball park.
3. The MPG Level 6 that's up fits all 5 of my criteria for a bass... And it's pretty! Not good
4. There have been 3 basses recently come up that fit all the criteria for a bass worth buying for me (I stick to one set of measurements I know I find comfy and ignore all basses that don't hit all - reduces the amount of basses that induce GAS!). I can't recall there ever being more than one up at once before!
5. No Probs. I was left with a number of patch cables when I went over to using George L's. For some reason I have 5 or 6 of these long 50cm right angle patch leads and I don't recall ever having needed them, let alone buying them! Lol. The cable is good quality and the jacks seems like a typical heavy duty metal jack, seem robust enough for gigging a fair bit. Buying the Neutrik lead obviously means your getting something seriously heavy duty, but if you ain't fussed about the brand than one of my cables has your name on it!
6. 0.5m Neutrik - http://www.audiospares.com/product.php?pro...t=43&page=3 1m Neutrik - http://www.audiospares.com/product.php?pro...t=43&page=3 PM me tomorrow and I'll get you a 10% off discount code (I work for them!) Alternatively I have some just over 50cm with right angled heavy duty jacks. They are not as high quality as Neutrik but are decent AND if right angles are OK you can have one for the cost of postage. Coz I'm nice like that.
7.
I've just tuned into this... oh my word that is going to look amazing! Though I may even prefer the grain on the back of the bass, it is that good. I'd love to see it in a 5 string version, I'm not good enough for a 6 string, nor do I personally want one. But this one looks pretty sweet! Cannot wait till it is finiished, you'll have to post some sound clips on youtube or something so we can hear it too!
Cheers dude. It is turning out to be more stunning than I imagined. Speaking of the lovely grain on the reverse of the bass... If 6 strings are too many there's A lovely 5 string version here - http://www.rimcustombasses.co.uk/pages/gallery.htm (Last bass, bottom right).
8. I've been looking at this recently. Basses, amps and cabs come to about £8500, with about half of that going to a gig at anyone one time (This does not include my pedalboard). Endsleigh's quote is by far the cheapest for my requirement, but its a shame they one do one of payments rather than the monthly direct debit…
9. No bud, not long. Spoke to Robbie earlier. Last Lot of oil tomorrow, waxing after the weekend.
10. Think this needs resurrecting... Anyone still aiming to sort this?
11. Link to pics doesn't work....
12.
Forum rules state you need to put a price on it. Also sales don't really happen here without pictures so it'll be in your best interests to get some up, plus a lot of us just like to look and dribble over nice looking basses
Or maybe I'll be the 2nd to say it lol My amazing powers of deduction have concluded that this is the bass - http://www.myspace.com/petercullenbassist/photos/26143442 Based in Australia I assume?
13. I'll be the one to say it... You have to state a price in all sale threads or you'll have it removed by the mods. Also, if there's no pictures, it doesn't exist...
14. Is this a 34" or 35" scale? A bit of contradicting info about the net for this model. 18mm string spacing? Edit - Answered my own question by finding it on the Yamaha site. 34". Bummer.
15. Love the spitfire in the 1st pic. Vids cool too. String spacing looks tighter than on my incoming bolt-on 6...
16. Spitfires for the win dude! Greatest Jazz-style bass there is. IMO. Looking forward to seeing it with colour stain next week.
17.
That looks loverly mate
Cheers bud. You should see the neck... Amazing. Hopefully more pics by the weekend, but knowing Bernie, I'd give it a week
18. I miss the tone of my Overwater. I have serious GAS for a 6 string Perception or Evolution now. REAL GAS!!! (Just needs to be lighter than my 5 string was!). Damn you for showing us this! Shep
19. Grain really starting to pop out now. Down to the last few coats of oil then onto waxing... Loving the lighter areas on the horn and hip of the body...
20. Update from Bernie. More apologies for the delays. The body and neck I've ben married up an it's all been strung and plate prior to spraying to ensure it's all lovely. No pics with The colour stain I'm afraid. It was test coloured and then cleaned off until all the work had been done but I'm assured it looks awesome. Bernie is adding a Spalted facing to the front and rear of the headstock to match the body facing which will be done this week before it is sent back to be sprayed an finished. Pics under neon strip light, and then under regular bulb... The bridge will be black, the silver is just for a test...
21. For audio transfer I'd recommend WBT Silver based solder. Companies like SwitchCraft & Neutrik recommend it for best sound transfer. It ain't cheap, but makes a big difference. Sound on Sound and most geek based audio magazine rave about WBT, and if you think the solder is expensive don't look how much a pack of 4 phono plugs cost...! We sell WBT basic stuff on small reels and the expensive stuff per metre as buying a reel is a tad expensive. WBT recommend using a 30w soldering iron as a minimum. I've used a cheapy cheap one from Wilko for about 3 years with no problems. WBT Solder - http://www.audiospares.com/home.php?cat=653
22. Drop Robbie @ RIM basses an email or a PM on here. I Spec'd Delano's for my Marseer, he said no Probs and then had the exact ones I spec'd within 2 weeks so they can't be that hard to find. He obviously has a reliable contact!
23. After discovering BassChat it sounds something like this... Overwater Evolution Custom 5. This was my first custom build. The bass was gorgeous and the sound was amazing. The bass was however soooooo heavy I just couldn\'t play it standing up. I traded this for the Roscoe. GB Spitfire 5. Bought after Bassday last year. GB\'s have a sound like no other and if it wasn\'t for the fact I wanted a 6 version I\'d still own this. Great retro look as well. Schecter Stilletto 6. Bought as a back up 6. Great for the money, but didn\'t take me long to realise I just don\'t like neck-thru basses. Not sure why, I just don\'t. Sold it on here for an absolute bargain. Roscoe Century Standard 6 Fretless. From Bass Direct in exchange for my Overwater. The most comfy bass I have ever played to date. This, for me, is the daddy! Warwick Thumb BO 5. Bought from a friend who was a 4 string player. Got it for a great price, sold it on here for a great price as I was sticking to 6ers. This is the nicest looking Thumb I\'ve seen and sounded killer. Godlyke Disciple 5. Got in trade for my Markbass cab. Cool, but the move to 6 strings meant I sold it, again to a friend. Now resides with the bassist of Cruel Humanity. Yamaha TRB 1006. Bought as a clean up project. Looks great and sound how I\'d expect a Yamaha to sound. If it was 35\" scale I would also still own this! KSD Proto-J 704. Got in trade for the TRB in an attempt to rediscover 4 strings. Not for me! Quickly sold on to the bassist for Mel B amongst other artists. Each bass was basically sold to fund another, with the exception of the Roscoe which is a keeper. The GB was returned to fund my GB Spitfire 6 which is in the build process as we speak, and the rest went to fund my RIM Marseer 6 which is also nearing completion. I 'think' thats it... Pics to follow Shep
