1.
Well, I think my Drome Classic weighs about 16kg's.. But, doh, I thought it's a 'light' TC, and it seems, that it's not (32kg's according to tech specs?), dang.. :| well, best of luck with the sale, bro! easy Faith
No worries bud. No the BG500 ain't light, but my god it has some punch, and it is 500w!!! Most uber powerful combo's have some weight behind them. I tried the RS classic combo's as well as a RH450 through an RS 210 and was unimpressed to be fair. I guess the tone was just not for me. The BG500 is, to my ear at least, a much fuller, fatter sounding beast… with LOADS more volume available to it. But no, its not light. That said 32kg is around the same as an average cab and head (excluding specifically light weight stuff, eg. Genz Benz, MarkBass etc) and its only 1 piece of gear, so essentially still easier to carry than a separate head and cab!
2.
They were happy to replace it? Might be worth it then, if i get a dud but they relpace it for a good one
I wasn't part of the communication but I'm told he messaged the seller through eBay and said he was disappointed that they sent a great instrument and another which should of been the same, but wasn't/ Give that he could see the quality they should of been he was not prepared to keep the one they sent. As for how long it took I can't say but 3 weeks down the line he has a working replacement (so less than 3 weeks!). I won't say they 'were happy to replace it' but they did replace it nether the less!
3. I'll be the first to say welcome! 24 is hardly too late. As long as you enjoy it then it's never too late! Hopefully you'll find the forum as useful and inspiring as I do Shep
4. There are many mixed reviews about them, with opposite sides of the story. As a rule of thumb the materials used are great, but the reason they are cheap is there is no quality control and a lesser level of works-manship. Basically you can come out with a great one, or a dud one! A friend of mine bout 2 of the 7 strings about 3 week ago and they were world apart. The seller on ebay was happy to take one back for a full refund or exchange. The dodgy one that went back was replaced with another and this was better than the one he kept in the first place! They are actually pretty nice, but need the horrid varnish taking off. The bad one he received had a control cavity cover that cut so that there was a huge gap around one side of it, unevenly spaced bridge saddles (!) and a large split in the wood between the pups. The other was flawless and looked like a 1k bass!
5. You just need to look harder… http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=103862 or http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=85022 They will do the job perfect. There are also a hell of a lot of 300w combo's up at the mo (Trace & Ashdown) and in most cases I honestly beleive thats enough power to fill move venues unless you are playing big 2000 capacity clubs.
6.
im not biased and i concur entirely!!

I'm thinking the same thing!!

+1,000,000
At least I'm not alone then! I've just read my way through the thread from the start and I can't believe this has all come on since May 16th! I love this instrument and I don't even have it yet! I've been through build processes before with different luthiers but this one is very special. Very special indeed. Shep
7.
Lol EDIT: I quite fancy a go on one but no idea where you'd find one. I saw a guy playing a 6 string bongo supporting Karnivool but to be honest I totally forgot about that band after Karnivool blew them away (and their bassist uses a 6 string thumb AFAIK).
That was Illuminatus And yes Karnivool are bloody awesome. Karnivool Bassist uses A Warwick Thumb NT 6 through Ampeg's with a rather elaborate effects set up… but the sound is a true monster.
8. Headstock doing an impression of the Robo-Centipede of Doom! :-) Now I may be slightly biased, but that looks frigging awesome.
9. A friend of mine owns a 6 in an odd midnight blue colour. Sounds great, very versatile, I actually think they are the nicest and most rounded sounding of the Musicman range… but… Being a 6 player I know what I like and I find them horrid to play sitting (not a problem if you stand to rehearse and perform) and I also dislike the neck profile ALOT. I'm not sure what it is about it, I just find it a little primitive for a serious instrument… kinda like a baseball bat. Of course this is all subjective… my mate loves it so much he sold every other bass he owns! The bassist from Illuminatus also played one when I saw them live last and that sound was so huge I was almost sick :-) http://www.illuminatus.uk.com/
10.
TOO FUNNY, MATE! I don´t know how that went wrong - everything should be allright now
Made me chuckle if nothing else! Bump for an awesome amp!
11. Bass Direct will ship to Ireland and his prices are very reasonable. Mark stocks a huge amount of high end equipment and is very helpful when it comes to finding the right thing for your requirements. Check them out… http://www.bassdirect.co.uk
12. Depends on the am and how it drives it power as far as I'm aware (correct me if I'm wrong). What amp are you looking at?
13. Hi folks I have a spare set of Chrome Schaller strap locks and would like to trade them for a black pair. I don't need the pins, just the locks (that attach to the strap). Pic of my pair Must be Schaller! PM me if you are interested Shep
14. Given a slight change of circumstance, and that there are a number of the items I'm interested in available to buy both here and on eBay I am going to also offer this for sale. Asking £475 collected from Nottingham. As this is not a light combo it will be both expensive and hard to accurately protect during shipping, as such I'd prefer not to, but will do so at buyers expense and risk. That's just short of £100 off new for a combo that has not left the room it was delivered to after arrival 3 months ago! Still very open to the trade options listed in the OP.
15.
You can find some pix on www.martybass.com in the gear-section.
You might want to check the link in your Gear section when you click on 'HD-350'... Rather than linking to a pic of the head it links to a camping store!
16. I have a TC BG500 up at the mo and that will fill most venues without PA support it's a monster! There have been a number of Tecamp combo's in the same boat recently as well as a few high powered Trace combo's.
17.
Sonic jumble... ....>>>>pedaltrain II > ebs multicomp > mxr envelope filter > markbass synth > ebs wah one > mxr rio grande > ehx big muff pi > pw tuner > aguilar tone hammer > trex chameleon >>>>>....
Nice board. Like it alot. How are you finding the Synth? I'm loving it!
18. I have only tried a Neo... But my understanding is that it's only the weight that changes and the tonal differences ate minimal. Can you confirm/deny/let me know how heavy one is?
19. Well... 5 rehearsals with my board and no desire to alter anything. I can't recall feeling that before!
20. Stunning! What a great neck. Wenge necks just arn't that awesome these days. Bargain too! I want!!!! What's the string spacing on this?
21. Awesome little amp. Had one as a back up for my SA450 for a while. Regret selling it now. Packs a real punch for the price!
22. Bernie is the sole distributor of EBS gear in the UK. Bernie is your man. If you contact EBS direct, in most cases they will direct you to Bernie as well!
23. EBS Neo 212. Best cab I've ever had, and ive had a few! Light, powerful, punchy and the best tweeter I've heard. Not cheap... But a worthwhile investment!
