1. For a clean studio sound I go with either an EBS, TC or EA amp/combo. I find them the most neutral dousing an the easiest to get a good sharp recording from. Just me though There was a 12" EBS Drome combo in the for sale section that would of been perfect!
  2. I run an EBS Neoline 115 (300w) with a Fafner, and have at times driven it pretty hard... Never once has the speaker sounded like it's struggling. Amps listed power ratings are rarely achieved. I'm pretty confident the can would be fine. Plus, this is a bargain for an amazing bit of pro kit! Someone needs to snap this up! The myth of 15's being all bottom is so wrong with the amazing horns on the EBS cabs. Turn the horn up, close your eyes and it could easily be a 410!
  3. Agreed! Although I still hear tonal differences between the MBII and the 350… although now you mention it that could be cabs. My drummer actually doesn't like my Neoline cab sound unless I dial the Tweeter down completely… Drummers eh! :-) Think I'm pretty sold on actually getting he use of both my cabs again though and my 115 is perfect for what I'm doing. A trade for an amp head is defo the way forwards! Shep
  4.
Great bass. I actually miss it as well. I didn't think I would, as I had it as a 'stand-on' originally, but to be honest it's one of the best I've owned!
Now that's what I call a typo! Lol... Oooops!
  5.
Looks good eh? Bet you can't wait now! The Spitfire really works as a 6 right?
Damn right... Looks fantastic. Can't wait now
  6. Neck is amazing on the 6... Happily the other half of that neck is going on mine! Woohoo!
  7.
Has your friend considered that they don't necessarily have to play the B string up the 3rd octave? In any case, your friend could always bring their thumb round the front of the neck for reaching the low B up there...
Thumb over the top of the board!!!!??????!!!!! Are you mad
  8. With the width th board would be on my love of 19mm spacing I'm not sure the human hand would reach the B string towards the bottom of a 3 octave board! I think 2 octaves is enough. So does my friend
  9. Don't worry, I'm sure a fretless won't be far behind. The words Singlecut Marseer Fretless have been mouthed a few times already
  10.
Maybe try the MicroBass2 - assuming you can plug it straight into the power amp section of the TC...?
There would be no way to do that with this amp I'm afraid… also, Having been a previous user of the Microbass II, I can say that while its a great bit of kit… it doesn't produce a real EBS tone like the amp heads do… Shep
  11. Logo fitted to headstock and Nut in place. Looks seriously classy!
  12.
Damn.... that guy works quick!
Yup! It was a shame to hear that the other 6 string Spitfire (A neck through) which was commissioned after mine is finished before mine though. I'm not annoyed because it 'jumped the queue', I'm annoyed because I have to edit all of my claims of 'The 1st 6 string Spitfire' thoughout the thread to 'The 1st 6 string BOLT-ON Spitfire' :-) Shep
  13. SOLD I was lucky enough to have one of the first BG500's in the UK, and you don't have to look around the net very much to see that everyone thinks these combo's are bloody fantastic! - And they are! Super powerful and packed with features. At a punchy 500w with 2 x 10" speakers, Tube drive, Compressor, Tuner and 3 storable presets for EQ, this is a combo capable of coping for gigs big & small as well as studio work. For sometime I have been an EBS user. This is my 1st deviation from EBS and while it fills it's role, I have to be honest about the fact that I do miss the tone of my EBS rig use for other projects. I do need something to live at the studio though and so I am going to put this up for trade/part-ex with another EBS Head (as I have 2 cabs an one can live at the studio). The BG500 is spotless, it was delivered to the studio and has been there ever since, used twice a week by me only. Not a mark on it & less than 3 months old. This is the more expensive 210 speaker version. What I'm after... EBD HD350 EBS Fafner (Yes another one!) + cash your way EBS TD650 + cash your way Will consider… EBS Drome Combo (Prefer 15" but will consider 12") EBS Gorm Combo 'Possibly' a Markbass head (Will consider most of the range) SOLD. Asking £450 Collected. As this is not a light combo it will be both expensive and hard to accurately protect during shipping, as such I'd prefer not to, but will do so at buyers expense and risk. That's over a £100 off retail for a combo that has not left the room it was delivered to after arrival 3 months ago! In fact its probably been played less than most of them sat in music stores around the country! (apologies for the pic… only had the iPhone handy. If people particularly want better ones let me know!) 14. I seemed to of let this thread slip away! Silly me. Keep adding guys. Some amazing stuff here. There is now also a facebook group thread that a fellow BassChatter has started. If you have a Facebook Group please add to that thread also and support the bands there as well! My newest project… Our Helical Mind A 2-piece funk/D&B/Break Beat kinda thing. Good fun and I get to use all of my pedals! Still in its early days, but the tracks are getting there and we are planning a 'proper' recording and a pile of gigs from the end of next month. Both myself and the drummer are from a rock background (Former touring drummer with 'The Meatloaf Story' & 'Circus Du Vampire Rocks') so its been hard to break some old ways… but we are happy with how things are going and have already had a few MC's and local Drum & Bass bars/clubs approach us about doing spots between DJ sets… Myspace - http://www.myspace.com/ourhelicalmind I've already sent friend requests to pretty much all of you that have contributed to this thread so I can see what new updates are happening in your musical worlds. Shep
  15.
What's that pedal on the left of the Moog?

The green one? Boss Slicer.
Yes!
Or the Moog Expression pedal
Yes again…! Basically… yes!
  16. Spoke with Bernie earlier today, had a good chat about bits and bobs on the phone. Bass is almost ready for the spray shop and we finalised a few details like fret markers (or lack of in this case) and GB logo colours etc. Bernie thinks the staining on the top and headstock facing will be done by mid-next week and he'll see me photos before finalising it and starting lacquering, so fingers crossed next update will be around this time next week. I'm told the bass should be in my hands 3-4 weeks! Fingers crossed.
  17.
Thanks Shep Might hold you to that come springtime... IanM
I'll be waiting :-) Looking forward to seeing how this one turns out!
  18. Great bass. I actually miss it as well. I didn't think I would, as I had it as a 'stand-on' originally, but to be honest it's one of the best I've owned!
  19.
this looks more and more gorgeous with every update!!!
Cheers dude. A few more updates soon then hopefully… just to make it extra gorgeous before its finished! :-)
  20. Dood. I work for AudioSpares. Rack Shelves are my friend. Let me know what you need and I'll arrange a 10% discount code for you… Maybe more if you ask nice :-) http://www.audiospares.com/product.php?pro...at=0&page=1 - This kinda thing…?

    Octave
can i chime in here and proclaim my love for the fat analog sound of the OC-2 without causing another backlash like i unwittingly did in the envelope filter thread ???
Thats asking a lot! :-) In fairness, I have to agree though. I do use my MarkBass Super Synth for much of my Octave duties, but the OC2 still gets a look in and to be honest I still think its the best all round octave pedal (as long as you want a 'Synth' style sound).
  22. Loving this. Fantastic work! You can build me a 6 string variant next if you like
  23. Almost tempted to put my TC BG500 up so I can get this... The Power to weight ratio of this combo is unbeatable...
  24.
If you are after a 3 hole bridge, the Schaller 3D is much better IMO ped
I'm with ped on that one!
