Refinishing my Yamaha RBX775 - help me decide !
pantherairsoft replied to Machines's topic in Build Diaries
Hope the finish comes up that sharp. Looks lovely. I imagine the loo would indeed be fiddly via the above method... But worth a go I'd say! -

At first I thought it sounded a little silly and annoying. But by the end of the piece it kind of just becomes ambience and actually fills the sound out quite a lot. Good idea though!

Post your pedal board - Basschat style!!
pantherairsoft replied to dudewheresmybass's topic in Effects
Nothing interesting... Better cable added and a compact rightangle switchcraft jack put on it to conserve space and not have loads of excess cable flying around. -
Post your pedal board - Basschat style!!
pantherairsoft replied to dudewheresmybass's topic in Effects
The new board is awesome, but was having some issues with pedal layout as the pedals I want at the front (as I use them more) are considerably bigger than those at the back. Looked around eBay, found someone cutting perspex to requested size and as thick as you like... And I came up with this... Blocks held in place with strong Velcro, just like the pedals placed on them. Everything holds strong and means I can move and remove them easily. The blocks are 2cm high, making it just the right height to lift the pedals... Pics of the finished board when I get my Moogerfooger back this week with a new footswitch and a mod to the EP-2 pedal Shep -
Buy a 1U rack vent panel cover and cut it down to size? Alternatively, contact the maker of any amp you have seen the one you like on and ask if they can supply you with just that part to replace a damaged one. I doubt many would say no.

For Sale EBS Drome 12" Combo (SOLD)
pantherairsoft replied to TheDaivisch's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
How does this do in pure volume? I love the EBS tone and own a Fafner, a few Neoline Cabs and the Classic Session 60. I needed a combo to be portable for my Drum & Bass project but couldn't find anything that could produce the required volume to compete with a drummer, whilst being able to handle Octave & Envelope Filters. I tried a few amps around the 100w marker and they just couldn't do it, I was lucky enough to get my hands on a TC BG500, which is so loud it never gets above 3, but it is 500w. I do however miss the EBS tone I'm used to, and would still like a smaller combo if it can take my effects and the volume i throw at it. Shep -
I run 2 4ohm cabs into my Fafner for a 2ohm draw. God knows why! I don't need it! :-) Not really aware of any production line 2ohm cabs though, although i'm sure you could get something custom built

Bass Murf is an odd beast, and as mentioned its not the drummers best friend unless you are all midi-sync'd to tempo as a band. The pedal is amazing quality and can do some great stuff, but I always feel as though its more of a solo performance/DJ's friend than a band members. I now use the MF-102 Ring Modulator and have played with and lust for a 101 Low Pass Filter… Soon :-) But I could never see myself using the Murf as it should be used after lots and lots of demo'ing it, I decided to leave be.

Side dots going in... (middle of the tube still to be filled with black filler). -
I use the Octave section of the MarkBass Super Synth. Very nice. The octave down is very similar to the Aguilar tone. I'd quite like to have an OC2 again though for back up. Anyone go one to part with?

Buy the EBS Neoline 112 in the for sale section. You will not regret it. Amazing cab, and £300 is a steal!

TC Electronics : 450 combo , RH450 +112 or 210 or BG500
pantherairsoft replied to Bassdude BE's topic in Amps and Cabs
I was the lucky chap to win a BG500 from TC Electronics, and as mentioned I have a review of it in this months BGM. For sound, quality and for price I would honestly say I would choose the BG500 over both the combo and the stack. I really struggle to like the tone of the RH450, I can't explain how, but coming from my EBS tone it just seems 'Weak'. The BG500 however sounds massive and has more volume than I know what to do with. BUT... You are going on a train. That means the BG500 IS NOT the amp for you. It is in no way portable and is a 2 man lift for anything other than moving it 10feet or so. It is a real heavy beast and not designed as a portable amp. it is a high studio and live quality bit of kit, packed with features, but at the pay off of weight. Shep -
Love the PJB rig! Almost as nice as my EBS Neo rig Some awesome setups floating around now.

Gazza bought my Boss ODB3. Quick payment and a total hassle free sale. Cheers! Shep
That sounds pretty good. The group has downsized to just me and the DJ as our drummer didn't have much time to spare. I now am going to start running my bass into his Korg Radia to process it, which should work fine, and then add a few other FX after, if needs be. Do you gig often? Zach
Not at the mo. We have done a few live bits and bobs but have spent ages recently getting the stuff tight enough, and interesting enough to do some real gigging. We have been asked to take a 2 hour resident spot at a local club that do loads of Drum & Bass on a friday starting in 2 months time, so the aim is to have a good recording and get rid of the stuff which is a little too 'Jazz' by then. Oh, and to perfect my pedal dance to keep it constant :-)

I do lots of Drum & Bass now, but with live drums, no sequencing and no samples. As an effects set up I use the following... MarkBass SuperSynth (I use the Octave side as much as the Synth) 3 Leaf Audio Groove Regulator FuzzHugger A-BSynth (Set to Glitch as it sustains) Guyatone PS3 Phase Shifter EBS Unichorus (Run with Sub octave and phase shifter for huge sub tone) Boss DD20 Delay Boss SL20 Slicer Moog MF-102 Ring Modulator (Exp. Pedal for Freq). Sound is huge but takes some time to get used to switching tempo's and keeping changes tight. Lots going on but it covers all bases. Octave is always going to be the D&B friend. I have 3 presets, but mostly use octave down with no original signal. Flavoured with soft chorus. That's the mainstaple of my sound.
