The TD660 is cool but I'm not sure of the advantages over the TD650 in order to change. Both great amps though!
... Still not as cool as the Fafner though! Should have all my gear back in one place on Saturday so a new group shot is on its way :-)
Is that the lead between the terminal and the voice coil that has detached? When you reattach it, ensure it doesn't twist as it is a flexing part and can fatigue, or worse shift about and touch its neighbour, giving you a dead short (I've dlown a few fuses with one that did that).
Er... I think so... The metal contact has broken and the cable is detached. Looks like a fatigue break on the contact anyway, I assume as it was not soldered correctly during manufacture.
Wimp!
You know it! :-)
Defo. God knows why the original had a bulb in it anyway. Resistor and LED, job done. Plus you can get some really cool colours. Go for blue!
If Bernie gives me the choice of blue, I'll go for blue :-) Promise...
I want a TD660!
Lol...actually, of all the amps, The Fafner really is my Fav :-)
I'm pretty sure i've got a Blue bulb lying about somewhere for the fafner. I changed my original red one for blue when mine blew the first time. I could stick it in the post to you if you want?? Jake
Quite like it in blue... However I have just spoken to Bernie and he is going to modify the head to take LED's instead to avoid more bulbs going. Cheers for the offer though dude, really appreciate it!
Hope you got your soldering iron ready. Undo the two screws on the front of the grill. Pull the grill sideways to release the grill from one side of the cab and then pull the other side of the grill out of the recess on the other side of the cab. Make sure you keep the washer, screw and rubber tubing safe. From there, unscrew all the screws from the speaker. Lift the speaker out. Solder and fix. Put the speaker back in. Replace the screws around the speaker. Put one half of the grill back in the recess and position the rubber tubings in place over the screw holes. Careful push the remaining side of the grill into the recess. Replace the washers and screws. Job done.
A sterling idea! Or... I can do what bernie just suggested and have him do it on Sunday :-) I am unsure about soldering it as the metal contact has actually snapped in two, rather than the cable coming off. Either way, come the weekend it should all be good! Fingers crossed!

By holding my hand inside the the hole inthe back of the cab with my cam and snapping away I managed to find the problem!!! Lucky shot... You can see the little metal plate the cable solders to has snapped as opposed to the solder coming loose...

I've taken the back panel off, it doesn't give you much room to move to I have found the issue... excuse the non technical terms! There is a red and black cable that runs from the crossover panel to the speaker and they are camped in with a par if screws. They are fine. From this two screws run two more cable that go down in to the speaker. One of the two (one coming from the red wire's screw) has become disconnected. From what I can feel (as I can't see), they are soldered onto small metal tabs and it feels as though the metal tab has broken off... although it may solder back on...but I assume I have to take the speaker out of the front...?

I'm not very experienced with cabs... looking at it, I assume its all accessed from the front and everything pulls out that way. I don't have a meter though...

Hi guys, I took receipt of an EBS Neoline 115 yesterday. I tried it out a week ago in the studio of the same guy I bought my Fafner head from and a well trusted local musician. I was busy yesterday but he was kind enough to offer to deliver for me. I did not get chance to try the speaker until today however as my amp was at the studio until late last night. This morning I plugged in my amp, set it all up, flipped it on... oh! I get hiss and ping from the Tweeter, clearly pushing the top end, and as I adjust the tweeter control on the back of the cab the signal through the tweeter gets louder/quieter as it should... but absolutely nothing through the 15. No movement, no sound etc. No sign of damage etc and I know it worked perfect a week ago. Now, I'm not being ripped off, the chap I bought it from has already agreed to pop over this evening, collect it and give me the cash back. In fact he sounded positively mortified. Issue is I want the cab!! Its pristine condition and has never left the studio since it was bough just under 2 years ago. I have contacted Bernie at GB/EBS and he is going to call me back later, but thought I'd try you guys in case I was missing something... I've tried a number of cable, both speakon and jack to ensure it was not a cable or socket issue... Cheers Shep

Yeah I checked everything on mine was tight. I put a little electricians tape around the corners of the top case, as the noise comes from that sheet ofetal vibrating against the rest of it. The tape stops metal tapping metal and it's reduced the noise quite a bit! Seems it a common issue. As is the bulb blowing on the Fafner...

Really like that. Only seen it now the auction ended... I'd of prob bid as well!!!!

The EBS Neo 1x15 joined the family today... Just got back from practice using the Fafner at 2ohms through the 212 and 115... OMG... Stunning sound. Paired with the GB tone as well it's truely unreal. Fafner has been giving me some jip though. The little red bulb behind the valve blew a few weeks ago. Replacement finally stoves today... Lasted 2.5 hours and then that one popped! Dammit. Silly bulbs. I also find that with the current setup, the casing of the Fafner vibrates souch you can hear it when you hit certain notes maybe I should turn down... Or maybe not! Shep

2... Status Shark 5 and a Status Groove 5. Both great, both well missed!

I have a major one... Gwilym's 6 string Sandberg Fretless in the for sale section. This was 2009 GAS for me that has amplified. I want this bass more than anything. I'm now considering selling as many other worldly belongings as I can to fund it... I seriously want that bass!!
-
Nice, and maybe a bargain... But out of my price point. From the sound samples I've heard the Pace did sound like an upright rather than a fretless electric though. Am I over looking something that you consider to be a dividing line between the two?

Cheers for the feedback. Sounds like it's just what I'm looking for. I have seen a few go for cheaper 2nd hand, but they were also well gigged, and at the mo there appears to be pretty much none of them around... I'm very very tempted. Cheers again

Hi people... My first post in the Double Bass/EDB forum! Woohoo :-) I'm thinking about buying my first... Something different, I play rock and so will work I into the music I play. I was after something with some serious punch and after some google searching heard some reviews of the Dean Pace. It sounds to be exactly what I'm after. The Bass Gallary have a previously owned one in, which is in fantastic condition and they are asking £499 and can ship to me. Questions... Anyone here have experience with them and canfirm the build and sound quality to be reasonable? And, Given finding one at new retail now seems to be impossible, is the asking price reasonable condsidering what these may of gone for when you bought yours? Shep

I used to own a BBG5 about 10 years ago... I think that's what it was called. Was awesome. Edit... Was one of these same finish as well. A mate has it now, covered in dust, may ask for it back http://www.langamers.it/mandricus/musica/i...YahamaBBg5A.jpg These caught my eye when they came out with the light up volume pots etc... And ceramic looking White is always a hi-tech winner. Plus you don't see the 5's that often. Shep
-
I have the option to pick one of these these up, but the 5 strin version in White at a knock down price... And I'm tempted. Want a bass I can take out that's not worth over 2k like me others... One I can be a little leas protective over... Bit is still eye catching. This could be the one!

Cheers dude... 1. The compressor on the Fafner is perfect for my uses... 2. Something I have thought about a fair bit and a serious possibility! 3. Tried it, not keen 4. 2 dirt pedals are more than enough for me 5. Tried it, not keen 6. Had a Boss Phase Shifter recently. Fun but never got any real use for it. Option 2 could be the winner!!! Or maybe I'll leave it blank, just to be different.
Ps. Still got an empty space on that pedalboard
I know and it's bugging me. My options at the mo, for a solution I will actually use... 1. Take the tuner off and try and fit what's left on a smaller board, maybe PedalTrain JNR (if it will fit), and get a rack tuner. I can prob live without the Octave as well as it's fun but doesn't get used much. 2. Get an envelope filter with a long very deep sweep as the DiscumBOBulator only does a soft sweep. Kinda miss my old DOD fx25b and it's monsterous sweep. 3. Get something else no bigger than a Boss pedal that I don't really need but can pick up for a bargain price and try to find a use for it, maybe a trem? Shep
