Any point in me carrying on with this now OG and Mark at Bass Direct have stepped in?
Depends if you hear back from the manufacturer and they offer you better terms... I however find that somewhat unlikely! Me on the list though... :-)

You going to pop this into the Drum centre soon for me to have a look, or over to my apartment round the corner? I'll trade you a play with my Overwater and GB....
My MB cab also overhangs a little but doesn't give me any stability issues.
Cheers bud!

My cab is exactly the same length as the GRAMMA, but 2" deeper, meaning it would overhand by an inch at the front and back. Any users of the GRAMMA feel this would be an issue? Would I need to spend considerably more on the Great GRAMMA to ensure I had some clearance all the way around? Cheers!
-
I got a strip of Platfoam and cut it into 2 slats to sit the cab on, much like the 'feet' on the GRAMMA, just without the platform for it to sit on. I have noticed a slight reduction in vibration to the floor, and tightness of the bottom end. The vibrations and booming are still a bit more than id like so I'm thinking the step up to a GRAMMA may be in order soon.

SOLD As the title says, a Red Dragon Overdrive/booster from [sfx]. Anyone here that has used it will know its damn good at what it does, and Max's reputation for building great bits of kit does not lie... This is effectively a clean boost pedal, with some warm saturation. It has an input and output volume control, meaning you can vary the actual instrument output, allowing you to mush more clean volume through the pedal (ala a boost pedal), or you can push the pedal into overdrive, anywhere from warmth to saturated, to aggressive. Better still the gain can be altered internally up or down according to taste! It also has a single tone control, just like on a traditional passive bass and a toggle switch to engage or disengage the tone control, so if yo like the sound of the bass with the overdrive you can bypass it, it yo want to shape the overdriven sound a little, flick the switch! This is great for comparing your natural tone to the 'EQ'd' tone easily. These retail at £99. This has never been gigged, used only in the home. Has a fresh piece of unused velcro (both parts!) on the bottom and is pristine in condition. Am asking a bargain *SOLD* plus postage... a steal for a brand new boutique pedal! NO TRADES Link to [sfx] details of the pedal - http://sfxsound.co.uk/mainpage.asp?page=red_dragon Pic... (Sorry, taken on Iphone) Shep

The overdrive tone of this guy is the best I've heard, for that music. I love it and I'm after a dirty tone like that...Could you, please, elaborate a bit more and reveal more details on how he achieves it? I'd really appreciate it.
I can indeed... Here is the text of his email... ----- The bass tone I got on Simple Boy was a combination of 2 sounds, and I'm not sure exactly what I did but I'll try remember. I used an Ampeg SVT2 Pro preamp, but through an old SVT2 poweramp (only really because the valves in the the pro were going to sh*t) and then i ran either the ODB-3 or a Tech-21 XXL through it with the gain of the amp up a bit as well. I run the ODB-3 pretty much dry with just a bit of wet so it has clarity. Also, I had a distortion preamp on the DI line that was run through Amplitude 1 (the original one) and that gave it an extra high mid kick. I think there probably would have been a bit of clean DI in there as well. Also the EBS that was on stage (SHEP- when I saw them last in the UK) was Marcus' from Dead By April, I usually use an Ashdown live or Ampeg. ----- Now you may find all of the above a little complex. I ran it by Max @ [sfx] labs not long back and he offered the following 'slightly' easier explanation (hope you don't mind Max)... ----- Jon's signal path sounds pretty complex but if I understand correctly the sounds comes from: bass->valve preamp->XXL/ODB3->EQ (mid boost) in parallel with some other "distortion preamp" + some clean in parallel. ----- Hopefully that helps Shep

They are a fantastic band and thier recent album is stunning. Jon is a great player, uses a Warwick Thumb 6. I spent a bit of time discussing his dirty sound via email with him as I was very fond of his overdriven tone on a few tracks. He was very forthcoming with info and not slightly up his own arse about talking to a nobody like me Roll on March when they come back at play Nottingham Rock City!
NIN are amazing
Yes they are. Trent is a rather talented man I was fortunate to meet them all back stage pre-gig at there last show in Manchester. Was very odd, meeting an idol and all. Had a brief chat about bass with Justin, I recall asking him why he played so many dodgy basses... I recall him pretending he didn't understand the question
-
It's all legit. Being a NIN member and supporter (yeah I know), I was notified by all this being sold a while ago. It's basically to fund a mix of a new recording project and a Trent backed charity... There were a dozen or so basses not long back that were sold as 'tour used' and went for supid prices. There was am interesting custom shop stingray, black on black with just a volume dial... No EQ control at all. Apparently with tone set internally for use on a specific track. Shep
Jesus, what a bargain!! I have one exactly the same, except it was a factory 2nd. I got it on ebay 4 years ago for £300 and I thought that was a steal.
That was a steal! What gets me about these is how they can retail them at £600 max. I've had a lot of basses and played a bucket loads more on top of that and the build quality of these really blows so many other companies out of the water. Many people, myself included often disregard stuff because of the name, but this shows what kind of mark ups people do put on instruments. The quality of build in the body easily blows that of my old Stingray or Sandberg Basic out of the water, and this costs under half. Play one of these if you ever get the chance, they are stunning!
