Been a toughy finding many pics of me playing... been a while! Here goes... Ahhh... I miss that Warwick, alas... it served me well! If eBay user 'gapstcaths' uses there forums and doesn't use her much... I'll have her back. Was only a Streamer STD, but played fantastic. -
I play a 3 x 10 combo, and find the sound to be huge, bright and full of tone. Having owned a huge range of manufacturers gear I would say this is the brightest, fullest sound I've ever achieved. Certainly not like a 'duvet' is over it. If you move the shaping dials off '0' at any point though... then I'd have to agree!

Coolio! The differences between the Evolution and the Perception are obvious, but build quality and difficulty seem to be the same, and exactly the same materials get used... hence the similar price points. I enquired myself about the one they recently sold as the price seemed great... but there were the previously stated reasons for that. I actually looked at the Bass in question here as well before going ahead with my own spec and I thin it's priced 'about' right. But I figure, if your going to spend that amount of money... you may as well spend an extra few quid and have it exactly how YOU want it to look and sound! The one on Absolute, is priced at about 55-60% of what the new one would cost... I think thats reasonable, and no long wait! EDIT - Just noticed, when I was looking at it 2 months back I'm sure it was up at £1495.00, so only recently been reduced!

Wow... until readind this thread I had never even considered the use of flatwounds on a fretted bass. I have always lived by the safe knowledge that flatwounds are for fretless... I'm interested now...
-
The evolution on the site they sold recently was a second hand one... so go by that as a second hand price... also the one they sold was a special build, made to take a High C, not a Low B, so also has a limited resale market. If you enquire about Evolution prices, it pretty much mirrors the Perception price list... I know, they are making me one at the mo. I'd say the price isn't too bad for the bass, considering its using a fairly rare bit of wood, with a real nice finish!

I was always a Streamer man myself, but have tried most of the pickup types out there for the corvette. I was always very keen, and if I was to return to the world or Warwick again, I think a corvette would be the route I took. Of all the type, I found the $$ to be the best by far. I found that it was a little harder to get used to and get the sound right on, but once you got yur head around the pick ups it was by far the most versitile, able to emulate the sounds of 3 or 4 of the other pick up options... kinda like 4 in one! And for what they cost now, very reasonalble at that!

I remember mine, I was 17... I found that putting down the rest of the band to everyone helped... Then everyone thought I was awesome and were so busy concentrating on everyone else, looking for them to mess up that they never noticed I was rubbish! Come to think of it, that was our ONLY ever gig... so don't do that Just listen to everyone elses advice :-)

Someone to Hate, by King Prawn. Awesome Bass line. Awesome Bassist. Rubbish song

Having just got my hands on it, I have to say I'm impressed! The Ashdown James Lomenzo Hyper Drive. Ignore the James Lomenzo sound... the fact that this just distorts the mid frequencies, and you can control which mid's at that is fantastic. No loss of bottom end at all. Just some great fuzz overtones to your existing sound. Very impressed!
lol there actually a band thats really hard to explain what there like until you hear them. Zx
I see what you mean! Interesting. I imaging they are pretty good live. They would of gone well with Counting Crows as well. A good compliment to each other. Thanks for the suggestion!
aw its a shame that The Hold Steady didn't support, they really are amazing, and supposed to be even better live. Z x
I shall look them up. Not a band I'm familliar with to be honest... It shall be my mission for the day to listen to there stuff! :-)

Hi Zoe, Live they are amazing, but don't go expecting to hear all your fav tracks, as even if they do play them, they will be TOTALLY different to the album. Every track they change instruments and the songs get all restructured. Its amazing. Hold Steady didn't support. The gig was origonally planned for Decemeber, with support from Ben Folds, but was cancelled due to illness. It should then of been last monday, with Hold Steady, but was again cancelled due to illness. Then finally they played tonight, with support from Singer Song writer Saul Ashby, who was a little like James Blunt. He was good at what he did, just not my thing.

I just wanted to convey my gratitude to everyone on the forum that I have thus far come in contact with. I am a member of a few forums for various parts of life and I can honestly say that I have not experienced a community as close and supportive as this one. Putting down the bass 18 months ago was the hardest thing I ever did, and I fully believe that without the support and guidance of a few community members, as well as the valuable resource of information that this forum is, that I would not of picked it up again quite so easily. Playing again has been an emotional and fulfilling ride and I am enjoying every minute of it. I actually feel like I have lost a chunk of my life creatively by putting it down and that quite upsets me when I think about making that decision :-( I went to a gig last night, which is no odd thing as I go to bloody loads of them, but I went to see a band that I have loved since I was at school, and never got to see, Counting Crows. I am usually a dark and rhythmic kinda guy (Tool/Perfect Circle/NIN/Sinch), but last night blew me away. Easily one of the best few gigs I have ever seen. So I woke up this morning and had to sit by the open window of my 9th floor apartment (with Counting Crows on the stereo) and stare over the city with a cuppa tea and a lot of mixed emotion and blab out my heart online... amazing how music gets to you ain't it :-) Thanks again everyone!!! Shep

Seems like everyone else has one... so why shouldn't I :-)

Bought Ashdown Hyper Drive pedal. Great communication, posted recorded so it wouldn't get lost and even offered to refund if full if I was not keen on the sound (had been unable to find one to try anywhere). Couldn't possibly ask for more! Cheers bud! Shep
Remember, the topic is all about "The most accurate tuner"
Good point... I missed that... Peterson wins... it is more Accurate. Without doubt. We should have a 'Most Practical Tuner' thread as well then I can win with my TU-2 :-)
Some good points. But might I suggest that "'How many Ohms should my cabinet have compared to my head'... if it sounds right, it is right." be re-thought? .
Dammit... why did I open my mouth!! :-) I like the technical stuff actually. Always good to back up an argument with sound (get it) evidence. One day I may step up to a Peterson as I do understand the benefits. But not until I play with a guitarist who cares about his sound as much as I care about mine... for the time being I'm better being in tune with them, than in tune with myself.
