Your concern with the clean blend is noted by many folks and was addressed recently by Tom @ COG, one of our very own! His newer pedal versions (Knightfall 66, Grand Tarkin, and TK-421-X) all have a clean blend built in, but the clean signal is filtered, for just this reason! The difference is night and day as well - it no longer sounds as though there are 2 instruments, it just adds subtle low end to the tone. Very smart and seriously musical. So yeah, your idea of filtering the clean blend works! There are a few Knightfall 66 and Grand Tarking users around the forum already who I'm sure would confirm this Shep

Basically any tuner which has a 'through' as well as an 'out' is what you want. As mentioned the Boss TU-2 and TU-3 provide this function along with a few others. Using the 'out' will mute when you press the footswitch, using the 'through' will not.
-
I don't beeline it can be done. I have a JM Stereo. Same problem, very awkward power requirement a and barrel plug.
-
Only when you press the foot switch - it's is a more traditional tuner in that sense. It is mites tuning only as well. No bypass (you can't tune and hear the instrument, unless you are using it via a tuner out connection or similar). It's my favourite tuner in terms of display though.

As most people expected, Aen and the Dwarfcraft team are the ones who have taken the Devi brand on. Those folks who make Devi pedals on licence (like Mantic who make the Hyperion) seem to have lost that right in the hand over. I have huge respect for Aen - he's a top dude and does killer work so I'm excited to see what he does for the brand!

Hey dude! If you want a trem to chop as hard as the PN-2 then you need a PN-2, or someone to make you something accordingly. Nothing else comes close.

Shep on Bass - Interviews about effects!
pantherairsoft replied to pantherairsoft's topic in Effects
Here's another to welcome to healthy debate... PLEASE BE AWARE - MY WEBSITE IS NOW CLOSED. THE INTERVIEWS CAN NOW BE FOUND HERE -> http://simonpoulton.....com/sheponbass May I present Steuart Liebig - an underground master of intricate, ambient and downright interesting bass-craft. Steuart is a solo and band performer who, for the last 20 or so years, has released countless solo recordings as well as work with the who's who of the avant jazz community. His approach to using the bass is so unique that it has to be heard to be believed. -
Live Dubstep Bass Guitar Wobble (Using Ableton Live 9)
pantherairsoft replied to codemarla's topic in Effects
Ha. Just seen this - Yo CJ! CJ is well aware of my antics, and as mentioned above, Code: Marla is actually signed to my label... And incidentally, the new EP was mastered by me CJ's a top dude and a real talent too. He constantly impresses me. -
My live, improvised electronic project KADE is performing at a charity relief show at my favourite venue in the UK, The Dog & Partridge in Bolton on the 6th and at a special LiveElectronic night at the QUAD in Derby on Friday 13th (uh oh). For those of you that have no idea who we are or what we do, we are bass (me) and electronics (my partner in crime, Ash). Everything we do is of a dark, brooding electronic vibe and is improvised. Ash lays down a beat with his fingers, loops it, adds synths, loops them, does some vocal stuff, then I add in big sub bass and synth tones. No track is ever the same twice! Here is a recently live set we performed, complete with a couple of MC's getting up on th emit and improvising live with us too... http://bitnormalrecords.bandcamp.com/album/live-at-stuck-on-a-name-studios And our 'studio' EP - which are our favourite jammed out ideas from rehearsal... http://bitnormalrecords.bandcamp.com/album/aphotic-love-feel Hope to see you there.

Shep on Bass - Interviews about effects!
pantherairsoft replied to pantherairsoft's topic in Effects
Ha! I said that comment would get a response!!!!! You chose to voice that opinion in that way so you have take the flack for it! Ha. Actually I also disagree with you though Mr Taylor. I think blending is the ONLY way to obtain a certain sound. If you want an 'all fuzzed out' tone then you won't blend. If you want to create a specific texture with dirt voiced in a certain way (so the dirt is drastically different to your clean tone) but run the fuzz in parallel to a clean base I think blending is often better than those pedals with clean blends and often lets you isolate the tow 'voices' better. I don't think there are any right or wrongs in music, and I think blenders are amazing. -
Another (more expensive) excellent mic for this is the Line AUdio CM3. Awesome little mic, will handle pretty serious level, and about as flat as you could need, with great low end extension. Its a condensor and will require phantom power, but is tiny, very discreet and outperforms most other SDC mics up to the Schoeps/DPA level, yet only cost about £150 Shepo got one for micing his behemoth of a rig and really really digs it....
This! Amazing bass cab mic - Though only if you want hifi - VERY revealing and raw. If you want to capture real low end it's amazing. Also it's Amazing on.... Guitar Cabs Vocals Overheads Snares Stage Mic Kazoo Er... Everything. Basically it's the best mic on the planet in my humble and insignificant opinion.

IS there such a thing as a pedalboard input/output box.
pantherairsoft replied to lefrash's topic in Effects
Yes. And it comes from a couple of us bass chatters - http://www.reallyawesomepedalboards.co.uk/shop/custom-pedalboard-interface/ Input and output buffers that can be switches in and out of needed too. Due to this it isn't passive, but is powered on 9v DC with the rest of your pedals. There's a thread on the affiliates section too - http://basschat.co.uk/topic/213431-the-really-awesome-pedalboard-company/page__pid__2255888#entry2255888 -
quit hogging all the build time! hah
One of them has been on the Bench for 6 months... Stop distracting him from my builds!!!!
-
He has 3 custom units of mine on the bench at the mo, which will bring my total to 5 (plus the aux switch he made for my eventide - so kinda 6), plus I have his mind working over another for the new year... I'll have a COG board before long. Easily the easiest pedal builder to work with!
-
As above, he owns both an LG and an SKB, 6 or 7 strings. It appears odd as he is lefty but plays it strung the wrong way up, as he learnt to play on an upside down right handed bass - So his low B is at the wrong side of the fretboard!
-
I'd rock that. The thing that puts me off - No Truss rod. Stiff or not, in the UK climate I put money on that neck moving. I prefer this one though - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131044970978

Someone a few of you may know... PLEASE BE AWARE - MY WEBSITE IS NOW CLOSED. THE INTERVIEWS CAN NOW BE FOUND HERE -> http://simonpoulton.....com/sheponbass May I present my good friend, and fellow gear-head, Ste Taylor. Ste is currently the bass player with The Christopher's and previously with successful British rock act, Our Innocence Lost. I've had the joy of spending some time in a studio with Ste over the last year or more playing with pedals and discussing our differing tone. Check out what Ste had to say about his current live set up... -
-
Like Ste says. Yes. I would consider having the OD in one loop and the fuzz in the other though then you ca. Blend them together, or blend either with a clean signal by turning the other one off!

I don't have any experience with the other supplies I'm afraid. I was surprised about the SupaNova, as was Dan. It seems that the MB stuff needs serious headroom for some odd peaks in power consumption. I won't pretend to understand why, but it took two wired together to make it work!
-
The GigRig adapters won't do the MB stuff. It's a pain. I had Dan at GR wire two SupaNova adapters in parallel for me as an experiment to see if it would work and that did... But that's basically a £100 power adapter. A single SupaNova should do it on paper, but in practice after a short while the pedals just bottom out and start flashing and ticking. Very odd. I used the SuperSynth (same power demands) for a while and my advice is to use the original adapter.
