quit hogging all the build time! hah
One of them has been on the Bench for 6 months... Stop distracting him from my builds!!!!
-
He has 3 custom units of mine on the bench at the mo, which will bring my total to 5 (plus the aux switch he made for my eventide - so kinda 6), plus I have his mind working over another for the new year... I'll have a COG board before long. Easily the easiest pedal builder to work with!
-
As above, he owns both an LG and an SKB, 6 or 7 strings. It appears odd as he is lefty but plays it strung the wrong way up, as he learnt to play on an upside down right handed bass - So his low B is at the wrong side of the fretboard!
-
I'd rock that. The thing that puts me off - No Truss rod. Stiff or not, in the UK climate I put money on that neck moving. I prefer this one though - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131044970978

Someone a few of you may know... PLEASE BE AWARE - MY WEBSITE IS NOW CLOSED. THE INTERVIEWS CAN NOW BE FOUND HERE -> http://simonpoulton.....com/sheponbass May I present my good friend, and fellow gear-head, Ste Taylor. Ste is currently the bass player with The Christopher's and previously with successful British rock act, Our Innocence Lost. I've had the joy of spending some time in a studio with Ste over the last year or more playing with pedals and discussing our differing tone. Check out what Ste had to say about his current live set up... -
-
Like Ste says. Yes. I would consider having the OD in one loop and the fuzz in the other though then you ca. Blend them together, or blend either with a clean signal by turning the other one off!

I don't have any experience with the other supplies I'm afraid. I was surprised about the SupaNova, as was Dan. It seems that the MB stuff needs serious headroom for some odd peaks in power consumption. I won't pretend to understand why, but it took two wired together to make it work!
-
The GigRig adapters won't do the MB stuff. It's a pain. I had Dan at GR wire two SupaNova adapters in parallel for me as an experiment to see if it would work and that did... But that's basically a £100 power adapter. A single SupaNova should do it on paper, but in practice after a short while the pedals just bottom out and start flashing and ticking. Very odd. I used the SuperSynth (same power demands) for a while and my advice is to use the original adapter.

NOW SOLD! Up for grabs is my Digitech Jamman Stereo (that's the 4 button version!). Great looper with oodles of loop time organised into banks for those who want to save them for future gigs. Makes a great sampler too to load with samples to trigger with your foot. Boxed with manual. In great condition, just some light marks on the sides where it's been up against other pedals on the board, general wear and tear. [s]Looking for £120 posted in the UK[/s]. NOW SOLD! Pics up soon! The Moog or the Xero will do this. This is standard Loe Pass Filter application - used to create big dub bass sounds, or, when you move the cutoff about (with an expression pedal for example) you get nice synthy sweeps. On the moog - Envelope 0 (you don't want to use the env section), Mix 10, Cut off to desired freq, Resonance to required boost level. Done. One the Xero - As above, but it has no envelope section (unless you buy the deluxe version). Some envelope filters may let you do this buy turning the sensitivity right down to avoid triggering the envelope, but at the end of the day a static low pass filter is what you are asking for.
-
Do you mean that the frequencies roll off directly after the frequency you select to boost? If so, this is a regular Low Pass filter. Your cutoff frequency can be selected and boosted, and everything after it is removed. Typically this will have only s cutoff and a resonance control.
3Leaf Audio - Anyone know if they renamed the 'Groove Regulator' to 'Wonderlove'? I can't seem to find much on the 'Groove Regulator' The former seems to have some of the features I'm looking for.
Groove Reg became the Groove Reg 2, which became the Wonderlove... Just an evolution of the pedal. It's an envelope filter though - Which you said you were not after. If you use the terms 'resonant filter' you are going to find envelope filters in your searches. If you are looking for an EQ application of a filter then you want to be looking at 'filter-based-EQ' or parametric EQ. Are you trying to recreate a certain sound as that would help us suggest what you need. Your diagram would suggest a Low Pass Filter is what you want - to boost a certain frequency and completely remove everything above it, such as the Moog LPF or Iron Ether Xerograph.
-
Makes sense - SO you are really looking for an EQ/Preamp type system. Maybe a Parametric EQ is a good place to start? Typically 3 knobs - One selects the centre frequency, one selects how wide the band of frequencies that are effected is (Q) and one selects the boost at the centre Frequency. Aside that, I'm not aware of anyone making a real filter EQ system in pedal format, though someone like John East may be able to wire up one of his onboard-filter pre's into a box for you?

Post your pedal board - Basschat style!!
I think what made it easier with Sheps was that it was so big, so there was plenty of room to get hands under, which there isn't with something so small.
This. I'd still of had hinges in hindsight though TBH. That board has been in my garage (without the pedals on it obviously) since OHM disbanded in Feb. If anyone wants a bloody stupid size board and can collect then I'll do a deal!! -
What sound are you after exactly - Your overview is basically every envelope filter about. 'Resonance' is just that - The amount of 'boost' at the specified cutoff frequency. There are different filter sounds - High Pass, Low Pass (most bass envelope filters) and Band Pass (way type) are the most common and what they actually do to the sound differs somewhat, but resonance is the amount of the peak... so basically all of them could do what you need. This article I wrote may answer more questions - http://sheponbass.co.uk/blog/signal-chain-bassics-part-iv-filters.html If you have other questions after reading it, let us know and I'll answer them here if I can.

Would either be the Roscoe LG Signature I already have, or a LeFay Remington Steel.
Maybe we should start a review thread in the reviews forum with audio/video? C'mon Shep you already have about 5 of his pedals get the ball rollin'
I have a couple of custom builds in the works in Toms table at the mo. When they arrive I'll review and video demo all of my COG stuff in one go
Loving the monochrome/minimal vibe!
Thanks dude, My camera settings have made it all look black and white, when in actual fact the colours are slightly softer and warmer in there - The walls are a soft magnolia and the furniture is Ikea's Black-Brown, no it's all quite neutral. There a touch more colour in there too now... it's still evolving Sounds great in there though!
