1. Bump - will entertain trade offers.
2. New interview (man it's been too long!!!)... PLEASE BE AWARE - MY WEBSITE IS NOW CLOSED. THE INTERVIEWS CAN NOW BE FOUND HERE -> http://simonpoulton.....com/sheponbass I was recently lucky enough to tie down the awesome Anton Dang of O'Brother to answer some questions about his crushing live sound and gear. Check out what he had to say!
3. I'm sensing a theme here... maybe we should do an album for the Disney Channel or something Started tracking bass today for the next record. The first few stems are on the way to Canada for Waatu to tell me it blows and I need to start again Watch this space.
4. The EMMA is great. It's very subtle for a filter, but sounds gorgeous. It you want some major filter action it may not be what your after, but for nice funk flavour it kills!
5. Finally got my home studio set up sorted - I've been using the front room for everything since I moved 2 months ago. Very cool to have some space again... My workstation: Behind the desk/'live' space: Spare (as in 'not currently on my pedalboard' shelves):
6. Alex - I'll shoot some video as I must be going mad. I can physically shake a picture off the wall (just now!!!) with my EBS Fafner and get pretty much no noticeable movement - just some light vibration in the drivers. Either way... I want to A/B the new cab! Any of the 1st batch heading to customers anywhere near Nottingham?
7.
... I'd never seen anything have speakers which move so far and yet still work afterwards....
I find this very interesting. My Big Twin T gets some serious welly due to the synth sub bass stuff I throw at it. I spent a long time running a 1400w amp into mine and playing large clubs at crazy volume and I still have not seen a driver move. It's beyond belief - The speakers literally move 1-2mm at the most, it's like the cabs not actually plugged in. If the speakers in the new one are very active I'm assuming a very different technology has been employed to produce the volume compared to the older cab.
8. It was confirmed a while ago on the Moog forum before anyone had seen them as someone stumbled over the patent application for the name etc. Hopefully they'll hit stores pretty quick!
9. It's very true. I heard about these and saw them about 6 weeks ago when an online retailer put them up, before being promptly told off my Moog and took them down... but not before I'd had a good look!!!!
10. As these were only recently announced, and knowing that the demand means that Barefaced have a bit of a lead time I would be very surprised is anyone in the world has one yet... Very interested to compare it to my Big Twin T as soon as some are out and about though!
11. Thanks for the clarification and update gents.
12.
That's the sort of story we need to hear when looking for cases!!! We should start a thread with: 1) Case 2) brief description of the incident 3) outcome
That would be an interesting thread! I have corrected the silly errors in my post (bloody auto-correct!), your quote will forever show that I called the Netherlands, the Nergrrlands though! lol
13. Vic bought a bass from me. Very easy transaction and perfect communication. Top dude! Shep
14.
Not sure if this is your target demographic, but my five year old daughter LOVES Boundary Lines, and pretty much knows all the words. She also loves MIM's 3rd Thunder, and is adamant that it is performed by Chewbacca (bass), R2D2 (harmonies) and Princess Leah (Vox)
I'll take any fan we can get!! Ha. I'll pass those comments onto MIM. I think Jarman will be happy with that!!
15.
There's a story there and I'd love to hear it. How on earth did your bass fall 12 feet?!
We played a squat in the Netherlands which is basically a huge warehouse. The van was parked up on a loading bay around 6' from the ground below. I hadn't packed the van the night before and the guys had slid my bass in last on top of everything else in the van and it had moved during the journey. I opened the back of the van and it came straight out. I jumped out of the way not knowing what was flying at me and it whacked the floor arse-end down (about a 6' fall), then fell forward, bounced and went over the edge of the loading bay for another 6' drop. That's when I realised it was my Roscoe and some wee came out. Strictly speaking I guess that was two 6' falls, but either way. The Protec kept it like new.
16.
The Mono has what I would consider sides. That's why trying to work out which of these cases is the best one for you from descriptions on the internet is virtually impossible. If you can't actually get to see one and wear it, then at some point you just have to take a gamble.
Just checked out the mono online in terms of detailed pictures - I stand corrected. I can only assume that the one I had was a very old/original generation or something as it was not like that at all. It was more like a Harvest bag in its construction style. That or I was VERY drunk for a while Based on that - yes they are very similar. I can vouch that the Protect is an excellent case, but I suspect the mono is just as good.
17. It's pretty different to the Mono, in the sense that the Mono is more of 2 pieces that huge the bass, where as the Protec has 'sides' more like a hard case. It's a softcase with an internal carapace around the edges to protect from impact. I toured Europe for 2 weeks with a £5000 bass in a Protect Contego, in the back of a transit van and it took a fair few bumps, including a fall from about 12'. The case still looks like it was new, not a mark on it. Needless to say the bass was perfectly happy. It's miles better than any hardcase I own.
18. Cheers dude!
19.
I have had the QM 6 on my pedal board for a bit now, by far the lightest, perhaps the smallest and certainly one of the best pedal switching systems around. +1 to the review above.
Agreed! Pretty excellent bit of kit. The size/weight alone makes it a worthwhile addition for anyone that wants a bypass looper.
20.
Putting a link to your advert is fine, no problem there at all. Listing stuff you haven't advertised isn't. Linking to items on Gumtree\Ebay etc. isn't either. HTH

http://basschat.co.u...tion=rules&f=19 Am I being dumb? But I'm sure it says here under section 8 that linking to sale threads is against the rules. I even had my links removed from my signature by a moderator. So what's that about? It appears most of the mod team don't read the rules, but expect others too. Colour me annoyed some.
I have been in the same boat as Ste here, and the rules listed on the forum do contradict whats being said here. Can we get a clarification, and if needed, update to the marketplace ruling over this?
21. I use a lot of effects to drastically change my tone track to track. I don't want an already 'coloured' sound to work from, I want my tone to be as clean and hi-fi as humanly possible to my direct tone does not influence the different sounds and textures I am using. Like a million other things it all depends on the music you play, how you hear it and what makes you tick.
22. Order from Thomann - Not in UK, but it'll be with you just as quick and be cheaper! http://www.thomann.de/gb/protec.html
