1. There is so much to explain with the pedal that its hard to know where to start. There are 2 modes to use it in... One is as it was a single stomp box... It has one effect active and the 3 foot switches apply to that effect. To go to another effect you turn the knob to change setting. Each of the settings (Octave, Harmonizer, Whammy etc) have a default setting which you can set up (so one patch for each type of effect). The other mode is a bank mode where you can have upto 99 banks, each bank has 2 effects. One foot switch per effect and one to scroll to the next bank. This is what I use to perform live with. I currently use 10 presets, in 5 banks. To access the tuner you HAVE to be in the 1st mode. So I would need to swap modes (hold one footswitch for 2 seconds) then turn on the tuner (hold down 2 footswitches for 2 seconds), then undo it all. I just use a polytune mini! The octave is one of the best I've used. The fact the 2nd sub octave tracks so well is crazy. I have to say though that using the 2nd sub octave is not 'musical' on the bass... It's like the DOD Meatbox... It will clip your amp and gut you! The octave itself has 2 filters, with resonance and a blendable fuzz too. Very versatile. With the filter off, a little resonance and some depth tweaking there is certainly some OC2 mojo, BUT its much bigger, lots more LOW meaning on this setting it is boomier and dominates the mix more than the OC2 does. Using the filters gives you all sorts of classic synth bass tones. It's worth mentioning the expression can be assigned to any parameter of every patch you set up as well... So you can do soooooo much. On one of my octave settings I have it blending the fuzz from wet to dry and on another inside it to sweep the cutoff of the filter for synth sweeps. If you have any reason to be near Nottingham soon you are more than welcome to come and spend an afternoon tweaking it in the studio. Shep
2. Best pedal in the world? Really? Quite possibly... Yes! Tuner is great, though not super quick to access on stage. Octaves are HUGE. Serious bass - though you'll struggle to get the OC2 sound from anything but the OC2. Still a brilliant octave. Great bass synth noises from the adjustable filters on the octave patch, Lovely reverbs, killer chorus, easily the most advanced harmoniser in pedal form, best whammy-type pedal about and the list goes on and on. It's not a 'multi-effect' as such... But it is really. Don't expect to buy one and get the most out of it in a few weeks though. It's taken me 18 months to get it to replace half my board and I'm about 50% of the way through its hidden quirks. It's an investment... But I think it's worth more than its price tag!

A man with a long history in the audio industry. A history which has been focused on tone since the very beginning. James's background within the audio industry has been based around developing equipment which delivers the goods for guitarists all over the world but now his passion is directed toward Amptweaker, creating pedals packed with years of industry expereince and insight. One word... TONE.
4.
Repping the subdecay I see! Great stuff!
Yeah dude!! I LOVE that filter!
5. It's been a while since I've used it but if I recal the EP2 allows more than the full sweep of the knob. As there would be part of the sweep which goes beyond the frequency range of your bass signal and so does nothing. To avoid having the last 10% of the swell do nothing I rolled back the pot a little. That does depend on where you set the minimum cutoff too on the pedal though - the higher that I set the more of the pedals swell becomes unused. I guess it's a case of suit to suit your style. I always want toe down to be different to 'not quite toe down'.
6. That's plan! And this set up have 2 less sub octave pedals than my usual set up!
7. Been a while since I posted a few pics. The HUGE board has been stripped and is currently acting as a coffee table in the studio. I have a new live electronica project on the go (live bass & electronics as a 2-piece) and this is my much reduced set up that I'm using for it... Bass -> TC Polytune Mini -> * (GigRig QuarterMaster 4 Input) * COG Effects Custom Meat Grinder Fuzz -> Subdecay Prometheus -> Eventide PitchFactor (with EB VP Jr) -> Moogerfooger Low Pass Filter (with MP-201) -> * (GigRig QuarterMaster 4 Output) * TC Nova Delay iB Mod - > Amp All housed in a Diago Showman (other than the delay) and powered by a GigRig Modeular Power Supply. There is a MIDI Splitter in the top corner too which delivers a MIDI Clock from the electronics to sync the LFO's of my MP-201 and crazy effects in the Eventide. Sounds HUGE!!! 8. Thing is the Moog is supposed to add drive. It 'can' clean up, but its analogue phat-ness is part of its design. It will always mess with your clean tone when in use (put it in a bypass loop when not in use!).
9. Yeah - I think delving into the specifics of programming the GR-55 is a technical manual waiting to happen. I imagine Gary would need a year to write that out! It's certainly an interesting bit of kit. There are some videos on YouTube that he did for Roland with the VB-99 that are quite in-depth, but even they only scratch the surface.
10. It's a BIG one... PLEASE BE AWARE - MY WEBSITE IS NOW CLOSED. THE INTERVIEWS CAN NOW BE FOUND HERE -> http://simonpoulton.....com/sheponbass May I present to you the incredible Mr. Gary Willis. Hang on... Did I just say Gary Willis!? Er. Yes! Be prepared for a tour around one of the most intricate live set ups to date!
11. June 24th is the official launch date. Keep an eye on the Facebook for updates: http://www.facebook.com/patientzeroproject
12. The Moog will filter everything out as far down as 20hz - meaning with the filter right down you get silence as our cabs don't do that. With the filter rolled back around the 75-80hz point with an octave pedal before it you are in serious amp clipping lows!
13. What you want to do is run an octave pedal into the Moog with settings described above. The Meatbox has an octave down as mart of it's sound so you'll need to recreate that to get that low! Then use the LPF to remove the highs and beef the lows.
14. Contact Barefaced. Alex knows his products. He's the man to tell you if something's wrong or not.
15. My Roscoe has a matching front and back headstock facing. Love it.
16. Myself and LeeMan are coming from Nottingham this evening. That's another 2 basschatters at least

Yup. I think so too... Mojo Hand FX offer stunning boutique effects pedals designed, built and assembled in the USA. They have a reputation for sounding great, looking stunning and surviving life on the road. The man behind the brand is Brad Fee. Check out what Brad had to say...
18. Sorry guys, these all sold back in January! I'll update the opening post.
19.
I caught the track last night, I like this, it's my kind of music. I'm going to follow this with great interest as I have my own ideas that seem to be in a similar vein to all this. keep up the good work mate, you have a new fan here lol
Thanks dude. Waatu has been doing some serious work on the mix. We're getting close to finish so should be announcing an official release date for the EP soon. Very excited about it.
20.
Great board dude, and very well organised. I think you and Shep would get on very well!
Yup! Give that man a cookie! Nice to have another OCD pedalboard arranger in the ranks! Shep
21. I'll PM you (to keep the thread on track!).
22. Ah cool - yeah, I promised Tom I'd do a demo for him. I will get around to it soon... Hopefully!
23. Just the guitar sample in the interview. Tom is sorting the bass samples ASAP. I've played the fuzz (Tarkin Fuzz) and it's very close to a Black Sov Big Muff, but with some very nice tweaks.
24. This time it's Basschat's very own TG Flatline: PLEASE BE AWARE - MY WEBSITE IS NOW CLOSED. THE INTERVIEWS CAN NOW BE FOUND HERE -> http://simonpoulton.....com/sheponbass May I present to you Tom George of COG Effects. COG are a relatively new company based in the UK, making high quality, hand wired pedals. Being a new face to the market has not stopped Tom's pedals making quite a splash with both guitarist and bassists alike. Have a look at what Tom had to say about his background and bringing his designs to the market.
