1.
sounds cool! I hope you manage to get some recordings.
Apparently tonights jam/rehearsal is being recorded so the MC's can take the music away to work on stuff for the show - This is the only rehearsal before the gig. I'm unsure if the show id being recorded though.
2. Yeah - It has a Glockenklang 2-band in it. Very nice. A little less 'balls' in the low mids, but more more hi-fi.
3. A jazz quartet. Never met them. The Sax player and band leader is at Royal College of music. They are doing a night on 26th April here in Nottingham of HipHop and Funk inspired music with some MC's and vocalists and have been told by the promoter that they MUST have a bass player to do the HipHop thing right (they usually use brass to fill that role). He gave them my number. I meet them and rehearse tonight. Gig in a few weeks...
4. Super mega tiny set up for a HipHop/Funk session I've been booked for this month. Only rehearsal before the show is tomorrow... But I already know how much of a funk factory this set up is...
5. This bass has worked out to be everything I wanted. My shoulders and back are like new and it has a feel and tone to die for. It's amazing to think that the bulk of the pain I was experiencing was down to playing a bass scale which was too long for me! Anyway, small addition to the bass today... Custom Buckeye knobs... They are a pretty good match and well made. They look slightly off as they have an unfinished/Matt appearance (no oil or clear coat)... So I'd like to get them finished high gloss like the bass if possible in the near future. Shep
6. Jam with a new project today. Smallest set up I've had in ages...
7. Bump... Updated trades list - Trades I'd consider: TC Polytune/Polytune Mini Boss Harmonist or Super Shifter EBS Unichorus Fuzzrocious RatTail Most compact delay pedals -- trade plus cash where needed --
8. Janek is working on a new 3-peoece record with Jojo and John Davis too. 2 effected basses and mental drums. Sounds awesome.
9. Stolen from my website & blog: HERE Anyone that has been following my blog will know I'm a big fan of TheGigRig's product line. A while ago I reviewed the excellent Generator & Modular Power System as well as interviewing the man behind the company, Daniel Steinhardt. The last revision of my large effects rig featured a TheGigRig QuarterMaster 6 - A stunning true bypass switching strip. In fact, it was such an awesome product that after moving to a reduced setup recently featuring 2 smaller boards I invested in a QuaterMaster 4 as well! TheGigRig QuarterMaster: SPECIFICATION...

Highly robust, yet ultra light enclosure
Super compact footprint (only 5cm deep!!!)
Uses TheGigRig true bypass gold relay technology keeping tone perfectly intact and the switching silent
Soft-press foot switches, not clunky 3PDT switches
Available in 4, 6, 8 or 10 loop configurations
Comes with a 'tuner jack' to turn one loop into a silent tuning loop for a tuner pedal
Optional brackets available for mounting to 'Pedal Train' branded pedal boards
Powered by 9v centre negative power supply (regular 'Boss-Type' supply)
The QuarterMaster range on the offical TheGigRig website. FEATURES: 9/10 The QuarterMaster is a true bypass strip. I've owned one or two. We all know what you use a bypass switch for and it's no lie that they all do the same at it's most basic level. The QuarterMaster range has everything a bypass switcher should have - a switch & an LED along with a send and return jack for each loop. The unit also features your common 9v 'Boss-Style' power input and an in/out jack for the unit. The components are all high quality, with bright LED's for stage use and the internal relay switching system means you get perfect audio quality without the audio going through unreliable switches. Every QuarterMaster also comes with an 'Insert Jack' plug which you can insert to the return input of any loop to mute that loop when active. This allows you to turn one loop into either a mute switch or allows you to connect a tuner pedal to the send for silent tuning. It's a simple idea/addition to the package, but one that is well thought-out and makes a nice addition. A mounting kit is available for those who use Pedal Train boards and would prefer it bolted down as opposed to Velcro. This is however an additional purchase. PERFORMANCE: 9/10 The performance of the QuarterMaster range is excellent. The enclosure is small and compact meaning very little movement is needed in the foot from the floor to the switches. This may seem like an odd comment, but many true bypass strips that I have previously owned were all in very tall enclosures. A low profile makes a big difference to an ergonomic set up. The soft-press switches are another HUGE nod to the performance of this unit. Personally I HATE 3PDT heavy duty switches as they are 'clunky' and require a fair stomp to activate. I LOVE non-latching switches (such as those found on Moogerfoogers) but these often come with less than perfect buffers which mess with your tone. TheGigRig have used a fantastic medium - a heavy duty-esque switch with a softer action which requires much less force than your average stomp box switch but which still has a definite 'click' (rather than clunk!) for confirmation. The LED's are a nice bright blue and are certainly not going to be missed on a bright stage either. Having gigged my QuaterMasters now over 30 times I can happily report that they perform perfectly. - My current 2-board set up using the QuarterMaster 4 & 6 switchers: BUILD QUALITY: 9/10 Build quality can't be faulted. The units are very tough yet surprisingly light weight, so lightweight in fact that if you put one in your pocket (be it a very deep pocket) you'd forget it was there. The components used appear to be of the highest quality with great quality jack sockets and switches. My only minor niggle regarding the build is that the hex-screws holding the enclosure together stand proud along the front edge of the unit. In the case of using a pedal board with a front lip, this means the screws hold the QuarterMaster back from the front of the board by approximately 3mm. This figure is small and 99.9% of people would think nothing of if it, but for those people counting the mm of space on the board it's worth pointing out that these small screw bolts are not included in the quoted enclosure size on the site (making the unit closer to 5.5cm deep). However, this still makes is smaller than pretty much every other true bypass strip on the market. VALUE FOR MONEY: 8/10 As always this is a very subjective point. TheGigRig do not make 'cheap' products, they make high quality professional equipment for people who want that option. Using high quality components, with the excellent relay system, paired with it being built, assembled, tested and QC'd in-house make it an expensive product, but one that is worth every penny. There are cheaper bypass strips available but you simply won't find one which oozes quality like the QuarterMaster. An excellent product which is worth every penny! CUSTOMER SUPPORT: 10/10 It's hard for me to do anything but repeat myself from the review of the Generator & Modular Power System. Dan is the face and voice of the company as well as being the man behind much of it's development. He is on hand via email, phone (unless he has a soldering iron or Flying V in his hands) and social networking on a daily basis and always happy to help get things right. TheGigRig have become a company with a reputation for great customer service and my experienced of dealing with them confirms this. OVERALL: 9/10 The QuarterMaster is a fantastic product which is well thought-out with regards to functionality, performance and footprint. It's price point is spot-on given its significant audio & build quality and it's supported by great customer service. A well deserved 9/10... In fact, I'm considering a 3rd QuarterMaster for a smaller board I have in mind. 10. I'm based in Nottingham, so not a million miles away. If you find yourself nearby, let me know! Shep
11. WAAAAAAAAANT!!!! How's £20 a month for 6 and a half years sound? Deal? Anyone that's in any doubt about these... Stunning. They balance, play and sound amazing. Bump. Shep
12. These look great. I've been following the stuff on Facebook for a while... I'd really like to try one of the singlecut designs.
13. I would pretty much trade everything I own for this... STUNNING. I don't however have a 6 string Fodera. Bump for a stunning bass.

Yeah. Totally useless for recording. The signal chain is a bit noisy under a microphone too. Live work it's great if you have a PA or your rig can handle it. Everyone should try one once though. It's an experience! There is a modern clone now available an I know of another clone in development. They offer an improvement on some components, but will set you back about the same. The Aggie is the closest recording-usable octave sub effect IME - that or any octave down and a Moog LPF. That'll get the floor moving!

Lots of discussion about the place about this. You can't hear it. Don't even try on YouTube. You sure can feel though. As long as it doesn't rip your speakers in two the floor and walls will move. It's very unmusical, but simulates PA subs from a regular cab. Octave down blended with huge boosts of 30 and 60hz. I used one for a while, but replaced it with an Aguilar Octamizer which does a similar - not as rumbling and low, but far more musical - effect with its filter rolled back. The MB is one of a kind in pedal form and if you are playing gigs with huge PA's then it can do some special stuff to people's bodies.
16. Been a while since the last one. Time for some huge low end and prog' madness... PLEASE BE AWARE - MY WEBSITE IS NOW CLOSED. THE INTERVIEWS CAN NOW BE FOUND HERE -> http://simonpoulton.....com/sheponbass Todd Wood is the bass-man with Midlands-based prog' favourites Alright The Captain. Alright The Captain have carved a name for themselves in the UK/Euro progressive rock scene over the last few years with a reputation for being LOUD, nasty & noisy and for gigging constantly. If there was ever a band you had the chance to check out live, ATC is the one, with more gigs played each year than almost any other originals act around. ATC have a reputation for something else as well - Huge, dirty bass sounds. In fact huge is an understatement. Check out what Todd had to say about his set up and sound...
17. Roscoes ship with D'addarrio XL Nickels. it's a custom set, regular in most ways but with a 100 rather than the 105 E string that comes with the regular set. Personally I think those strings are great. Roscoe use them exclusively for a reason. I am currently using Overwater Nickels (Mediums) and really like them too. I used them with both my 35" Roscoes and they sounded excellent.
18. If its still here, I have a PT Nano soft case if be willing to trade (+ cash) if the Nano wasn't too small for you. Shep
19. Ta da! It's quite surprising that happened, given you use a circuit breaker to prevent a surge from reaching the amp. Odd. Anyway - the fuse did its job! Win.
20. I'd suggest changing (or at least checking) the fuse in the amp - little draw under/part of the IEC (kettle lead) socket on the back of the amp holds it. The fuse in the pug may be fine, but it doesn't mean the fuse in the amp is! I assume you have tried a different plug socket and also plugged it in without the circuit breaker you mention (incase it's that which has died!).
21. It's not just the lip... There's also the thumb screw you see in the last pic (which is as high as the lip - about 4mm) which holds the whole together. You'd need to start drilling it aand screwing things together. Rehousing is actually easier and cheaper. Seems Aggie appreciate this fact now that all the pedals have been rereleased in sensible enclosures!
22. Best tremolo I've used on a bass. Another great boss pedal that was discontinued and replaced with a naff version. These don't come up often and the price is bang on!
