1. Perfect mate. I play 18v active basses and its HUGE. Personally I think it's one of the few fuzz pedals that sounds better with actives... Possibly due to its more synth/less smooth fuzz sounds.
2. ALL SOLD!!! Got a few pedals to sell... I love each of these but in streamlining my set up I am finding that having pedals not on the board turns into more actually getting put on the board, so the stuff I'm not using right now is going! Boss SD-2 Dual Overdrive. Well used & gigged but still arguably the best OD pedal Boss ever made for both guitar and bass. This is long discontinued and pretty rare now as well. It has two voices of distortion/drive and can be set to use either OR be set so one is always on and the foot-switch flip/flops between it. Retains low end very well too! It also has a 'Remote' jack input which I have never used and never investigated, so theres a little adventure for you! No box for this and pretty scratched cosmetically but works perfect and sounds wicked. [s]Asking £45 posted. SOLD[/s] Devi Ever Super Massive Black Hole. Great clean condition. An utter BEAST of a gated fuzz pedal and have become well sought after, in fact I understand there were only a dozen or so ever made!!! This is nasty, abrasive and synthy with 2 distortion types (Mammoth-esque and super-synthy). with simple volume and filter (how much top end gets through). This pedal leaves all the lows intact and actually boosts them a little. I've owned more fuzz pedals than I can shake a stick at and this as the most bottom bar none! No old school traditional fuzz sounds in sight though! No box. WITHDRAWN TC Electronic Flashback Delay Excellent condition. About 6 months old and not had much use. Stunning delay & looper with TonePrint. Velcro on bottom. Includes original box & manual. [s]Asking £90 posted.[/s] SOLD TC Electronic Corona Chorus Perfect condition. Less than a month old (got it new and sealed in a trade). Only used at home. Chorus and Tr-Chorus with TonePrint sounds wicked on bass. Includes original box & manual. [s]Asking £80 posted.[/s] SOLD 22 Solderless George L's Right Angle plugs. If you don't know what these are you probably don't need them. If you do know what they are then you know they are great. [s]Asking £3.50 per plug inc. postage.[/s] SOLD Any questions please drop me a PM.
3. Here's my pair.. Kid paint BDPG & Kid paint Grey Stache with always-on gate. And my interview with the man behind the pedals - http://www.sheponbass.co.uk/blog/2012/4/15/interview-ryan-ratajskifuzzrocious-pedals.html
4. Cheers dude, Kind words! Got some more bangers coming soon!
5. Time for a big one!!! PLEASE BE AWARE - MY WEBSITE IS NOW CLOSED. THE INTERVIEWS CAN NOW BE FOUND HERE -> http://simonpoulton.....com/sheponbass I feel very privileged to be able to present to you the awesome Jon Stockman of Karnivool! Karnivool is a band I have loved for some years now so when Jon agreed to an interview I was pretty excited! Jon's dirt tones have been discussed on just about every online bass forum I've ever visited and phone camera pics of his set up crop up on pedalboard discussion threads everywhere. I thought it was time to get the details straight from the man himself!
6. Jack was kind enough to hook me up with a set of used strings for a back up instrument I needed to make playable in a hurry. Wouldn't even let me pay for the postage! Top bloke. Thanks dude, Shep
7.
It didn't actually take that long, it was mostly in my head.......which is probably even sadder! Ah I thought you were selling the SD-2 Shep? Gaz whatcha got? I had an SG-1 as well, but didn't work too well with bass so moved it on. I'd like a PQ-3B too. Si
I don't have much use for the SD-2... Best sort pedal Boss made is still no where near tr best dirt pedal I own. I put it up for sale on Facebook, but it's currently on loan to a friend for a recording project. He tried it and loved it, so I'll get it back when the album is done.
8. I do too... A Boss SD-2. Best dirt pedal they ever made!
9. Yeah man, some awesome stuff! The range of stuff they do as a band is mind boggling. Like the ultimate backing band for hire.
10. I don't use the pedal anymore, but when I was using it, it would of been either a fretted Roscoe with Demeter Pre, or feet less Roscoe with Bart pre.
11. Try both - but try them WITH a band mix. Both let it cut through the mix differently, the most effective one will depend on how guitars or keys are EQ'd. I prefered the 400 when playing at home/solo, but found the 850 better in a band mix.
12. Ha. No - I only used it on the E... but I run a Parallel Sub Octave to my signal that is low-passed so there is HUGE low end under neath everything.
13. By popular demand... PLEASE BE AWARE - MY WEBSITE IS NOW CLOSED. THE INTERVIEWS CAN NOW BE FOUND HERE -> http://simonpoulton.....com/sheponbass I present to you Dub-bass legend, Stu Brooks... Stu is best known for his work with New York heavy-hitters Dub Trio. Dub Trio have carved a place for themselves not only as a band in their own right, but also as the backing on tour for acts such as Mike Patton and his Peeping Tom outfit & Matisyahu. Stu's bass-heavy dub style has also earned him the spot laying down lines for the likes of 50 Cent, Lady Gaga, Pretty Lights & Tony Yayo to name but a few. Check out what Stu has to say about his awesome set up and monstrous sound...
14. Order direct, Taylor ships worldwide. He does not currently have a UK dealer (unless he's secured one very recently).
15. I used an XTi1000 for a while but actually found it to be fairly inefficient in the lows. Use an Octave pedal and watch that clip light go!! Even in Bridge mode. It was fairly unimpressive for my application due to using lots of subs octave. I had read on the Crown forum that the XLS was less efficient as a dedicated bass power amplifier that the XTi, though I've never known anyone thats tried one so can't confirm deny it. John (emporermingus) uses an XTi series live, but I think he went with the 2000 as headroom can be an issue if you are in a LOUD gig situation.
16.
Just read your Nathan Latona interview Shep. Good stuff dude It's cool to read about some of the ideas behind his sound as Tera Melos seem to have a pretty unique approach to music.
Thanks dude. Yeah, that certainly have something special going on. I aim to do a similar interview with Nick as well later in the year.
17. Not yet... Though we are hitting the studio soon to record a record and try a few things out... So watch this space!
18. Cheap supply with poor filtering. You get what you pay for I'm afraid. You don't have a demanding pedal set up so something like a Diago MicroPower9 should do the trick!
19. Another one for you! PLEASE BE AWARE - MY WEBSITE IS NOW CLOSED. THE INTERVIEWS CAN NOW BE FOUND HERE -> http://simonpoulton.....com/sheponbass Nathan Latona is the low-end man from Sacramento prog' legends Tera Melos. Tera Melos bring the noise. Every show, every record, every track. They produce a sonic assault on the senses and Nathan's grinding bass is the backbone to this tour-de-force. Tera Melos have a reputation of touring. They gig constantly all over the world taking their unique progressive sounds to more venues each year than most of us can even imagine possible. If you've seen them live then you'll know that Nathan's live bass tone is something of pure brutal genius.
20.
There was a big thread over on Talkbass about these a while ago. They are made by a Chinese company. They were showing them at one of the trade shows when they where "confronted" by Jens Ritter himself. It's on Youtube
Yep - very amusing... http://youtu.be/ARyVweFJH5A
21. Cool. I'll sort it in a bit and dropbox you the WAV.
