1. I'm not certain I get what 'both worlds' you want the best of? If I understand correctly you are looking for options of having a single unit which will act as your preamp as well as offering a range of effects, but one which is either analogue or at the very least has an analogue approach with easy on-the-fly adjustment (like the knob per function you mention) and no real need to access menu's etc...?
2. Hi Alex, if I understand correctly you want to know the differenence between a serial loop like yours (one pedal into the next to next etc then onto the amp) and using parallel loops? If so then compared to how your chain is structured a parallel loop would allow you to hear two effects side by side through your amp, as if they were 2 separate instruments. Example... If you run a fuzz into an envelope filter you get a nice wet synth sound. If you use separate loops via something like a Boss LS-2 then you will hear the fuzz and the envelope side by side as of you were using them separately. The sounds will be completely unmixed. The application is commonly used to run effect that suck bass in one loop and to run nothing (so you hear your full clean sound) or an octave down in the other, this allows you to hear a big fully untouched bass tone while still having your effects. 3. Only because I had an hour to put the board together
4. Doing a last minute recording session today at Derby University, laying down one of our funky breakbeat tracks. It's one of simplest tunes we play and this is the stuff I need to play it... (Messy I know...) Oh...
5. It'll be the regular 18mm bridge they got on these. They can go 17.5-18.5mm with some jiggery. The 19mm spacing option they offer is not just a wider bridge, it a wider neck as well so quite a costly upgrade! LOVELY bass by the way. Easily one of the most stunning instruments on Basschat at the mo IMO!
6. Cool stuff. Lots more discussion on this pedal here - http://basschat.co.uk/topic/185640-sonuus-wahoo-could-this-be-the-best-bass-pedal-ever-new-vids/
7. Ian bought some Patch leads off me. Hassle free. All good! Thanks dude! Shep
8. Looks pretty cool actually...
9. Bought some jacks and a power supply from Tom. Easy transaction and super quick delivery. Cheers! Shep
10. Thanks dude, it means a lot. Knowing people really dig the info on the blog keeps me going! I have another Signal Chain Bassics post in the works at the mo, but struggling to have time to get in done in full. There are at least 3 other parts of that series to come. I will be starting another series of interviews to run alongside my 'Interviews about effects' series over the coming months, looking at luthiers and preamp makers, discussin inspirations an tone instead of effects. The effect interviews will continue still as well, but I have a few guys on board for this series too... Shep
11. It's been a while since I've lusted for a bass... That Streamline is amazing! Have a bump for a stunning stunning bass.
12.
I think I'm gonna need a bigger board ....
Maybe!! :-)
13.
why this and not the rc-30 or the boomerang, shep? I'm still on the hunt for a cheap rc-30, but have no hurry yet.
Like Ant says, you can do lots of patch swapping without needing external switches and I had no more space to fit extras. The 2-switch RC unit is the same size as the Jamman so it had to be one or the other... After a quick play the Jamman won on features!
14. Correct! Stereo looper and sampler. A new addition that I'm still 'playing with' rather than actively using...
15.
i love that this is your portable board lol!
I try
16. Bump on the straight jacks, I have another 30 or so right angles that will be available in the not to distant future.
17.
I read that interview but couldn't watch the vids (IIRC I read it at work). I'd like to add a HH3 to my board & use it on the mf101's cutoff.
I have considered the same... But must resist
18. Finally got around to starting my more portable setup. The huge board is amazing, but logistics are nightmarish! Quite a bit has been removed and I'm still at the rough layout phase which i'll use for a few rehearsals before changing my mind again, but at the mo, its working a bit like this (with a few minor tweaks happening this week)... 19.
Loved the interview with Castrovalva Ant. Awesome rig.
Thanks dude!
20. I've seen them before but they are very cool. The Bond one features on the interview I did with him, he put that out the same week if I recall. It's awesome, but I was disappointed to see more HotHand than MP-201... So many people giving in to the lure of the HH!
21. No need to delete this thread... It's here for the next person that searches the forum for advice on a chorus pedal. If you could put your original title back in place too that would be appreciated. Cheers
22. Another easy transaction with Sim. Cheers dude! Shep
23. Mike bought some George L's from me. Easy transaction & great comms. Cheers Shep!
24. Ha! I'm not sure if thats a good thing or not... lol
