1.
Too much time on yr hands
Multi tasking (and being helpful) is what I prefer to call it!
 2. StageClix Wireless pack. Do not pass go. Do not collect £100. Simply the most amazing bit of wireless kit I have ever had my hands on. Flawless performance and zero difference in tone or output compared to using a 20ft cable (in my experience).
 3.
Thanks but I don't understand, what if one pedal is 12v and the other 9v how is one power supply going to work for both?
The GigRig generator is a 9v supply but the sell adapters which convert the outputs from the distributor to different voltages, so you just buy the adapters needed for your set up. The supply - http://www.thegigrig.com/acatalog/PS_Generator.html The distributors - http://www.thegigrig.com/acatalog/PS_Distributor.html (this is an alternative to a daisy chain) The adapters for different voltages - http://www.thegigrig.com/acatalog/PS_High_Current_Adapters.html Other power supplies that would work would be things like... Pedal power plus 2 - http://www.voodoolab.com/pedalpower_2.htm (allows you to mix cables to make higher voltage) Burkey Flatliner SIX - http://www.burkey.nl/Flatliner%20SIX.html (each output can be either 9, 12, 15 or 18v) T Rex Fuel Tank CHameleon - http://t-rex-effects.com/products/power-supplies/fueltank-chameleon-1.aspx (Similar to Pedal power 2) I can dig up more if you have specific needs. Much of this depends on the actual needs of the pedal in terms of how much it draws... some of the above will power 18v, but only upto a certain draw. Maybe if you tell us the exact pedals you are using I can tell you what will do the job... Shep
 4. There are a number of power supplies that can be tailored to different pedals - I use a GigRig Generator and adapters to power my set up, though there are others available. I would think with only 5 o6 pedals that there would be plenty of production boards available (diago, pedaltrain) that would be fine when paired with a supply like the GigRig. If you particuarly wanted a custom board then I would recommend Mal Chapman of GR Cases ([email protected]) who made both mine and Ant's (amongst others on here). Buy a board and a decent power supply and I'll patch it up and tidy the cabling for a few quid - because I actually enjoy this stuff!
 5. It's just those MarkBass units. I used the Super Synth for a while... 12v supplies and adapters would turn it on and it would seem to work, then after a few minutes it'd either stop making noises, or just make 'tick tick tick' sounds, or freeze etc... The mA requirements is really quite mental, the only thing I've ever seen needing close is the Eventide stuff. Bloody Mark bass!
 6. Unfortunately where the MarkBass pedals are concerned you are a bit stuck. While there are adapters out there for 12v (GigRig do one) and some power supplies have 12v outputs on them, the MB range have a MASSIVE draw requirement (500-600mA if I recall) which basically writes off any of those supplies doing the job. Dan @ GigRig managed to get the Super Synth powered up with an adapter but he had to wire 2 of his SupaNova's together (that would be a £100 adapter) to get it to anything but flash pretty. My suggestion would be to stick with the correct PSU's on these pedals... anything with that kind of juice requirement is always going to be problematic. Shep
 7. How about a chat with Talkbass's very own Proton Lenny? I give you, Zach Rizer... PLEASE BE AWARE - MY WEBSITE IS NOW CLOSED. THE INTERVIEWS CAN NOW BE FOUND HERE -> http://simonpoulton.....com/sheponbass Zach Rizer is the bass player for Mouth - The synthy, funky, bass-tastic party band from Kansas City, USA. Awesome technique, awesome gear, awesome sounds... basically makes for an awesome interview!
 8. THIS HAS NOW SOLD. If you don't know what this is then you'll likely not be interested. If you do... You'll know it's pretty special. I hunted for 18 months or one of these in great condition for my Drum & Bass set up and after 3 gigs with it I think I prefer the heard rather than felt sub I was getting before. This is a Subharmonics Generator in a pedal format. It's an Octave down effect that can be blended with your dry signal. The Octave effect has an applied low pass filter so it's all sub an there are 2 EQ boosts available at 30Hz and 60Hz. With the EQ cracked this thing shakes the walls of your rehearsal room and makes you feel sick Championed by Juan Alderte & Janek Gwizdala to name but a few. Prices on eBay recently have been exceeding £200 and seem like they continue to rise. Before I do hit it on eBay I though I'd try it here. This example is in amazing condition with the box and manual. The rubber underneath has been removed but is intact (as velcro didnt adhere to the rubber well) so can be glied back on if required (I'll glue it on if you prefer!). I want back what it cost me to get it over from the US - £180, but I will include the adapter I have since bought to convert a regular 9v power supply/daisy chain to the right type of input to power the pedal. Please note of you have a low powered amp or lower quality can then this 'may' damage your set up if cranked (something it was famous for back when it was released in the days when amps didn't have protect circuits!). Any questions, just ask. I'm not interested in any trades unless it's a Line6 M13. (if you havn't seen one before, that is perfect condition. The 'distressed' look of the pedal is part of the paint job - to make it look like a slab of raw meat!). Shep THIS HAS NOW SOLD.
 9.
We need to sort out a Scottish Tour for OHM. I know a couple of places in Dundee that would suit. Need to check where in Perth would be best. Any excuse to hear this rig, eh!
Works for me! 2 or 3 dates back to back sounds rockin'
 10. WIN!
 11. I had a play with the Noisegate (I think it was a compressor and noisegate - I can't recall) but thought it was AWESOME compared to the NS-2 pedal. It was a long time ago though so my memory may be hazy.
 12.
Sounds awesome. I see you've gotten rid of the Moog LPF in favor of the Iron Ether.. is it that good?! You guys have to come to the US sometime.. play some shows.

Bet the air freight on your pedalboard would be a nightmare Shep!

It's a sign. Come to Aberdeen first

Ha.... The Xero was built to spec to replace the Moog. I tested a regular Xero out to ensure the tone would fit (in places I kinda prefer the Moog tone, but the Xero works great for the music) but importantly the IE pedal is totally noise free. Silent as a mouse. The Moog unfortunately rapes my noise floor having all those pedals before it and I need to use noise gates and make some compromise to get tr best from it. The custom Xero needs to go back for more tweaking soon (it was the 1st Taylor had made like this with 3 CV controls so some tweaking was expected) but I'm very happy with it. Freight would be mad, though NC would be amazing (Moog, Roscoe & Krispy Kreme!!). Aberdeen would rock as well. Hook us up with a promoter that will pay enough to cover travel and make a few quid an we'll happily visit either!
 13. Moog Moogerfooger Clusterflux (so I voted 'other').
 14.
One question.. do you run both the sub and noise loops at the same time?
Sometimes. The loops mixer swaps between A and B with one switch and enables both in parallel with the other. I often play a line with the noise channel and then kick in the 'sub' underneath it when it builds up.
 15. Shot of my rig from a video shoot yesterday... Basically it's all Meh except for the fact that there is a cassette deck in the shot! WIN!
 16. Due to have a number of changes recently I thought I'd write this up for those interested in the exact workings of my board... Shep on Bass - My Signal Chain Explained I think that just about covers it all!! Pics taken at a music video shoot yesterday:
 17.
I believe it's a Team Awesome Fuzz Machine. In other, more personal news, I have finally decided to start on a pedalboard with most likely a Polytune, a Phat Phuk B, a BB Bass Preamp, an OC-2, and most likely an Oxide, on a Diago board with a Powerstation and hooked up with George L's. Now that I've said it on here, I can't change my mind again! I hope. ...just added it up and it's $1095 altogether. Wish me luck!
You'll save a ton by buying the bits 2nd hand. Stuff like Powerstations crop up all the time for cheap. If you need and straight George L's let me know as I have loads spare if you want a few cheap (pending on postage costs to your side of the world of course!).
 18. The new board in action last Thursday (snapped by a friend in the audience...)
 19.
Ah man. I would have came over after we'd finished up if I'd know you'd still be around!
We weren't quite expecting to go on that late! Was an odd gig. Fun though! Zachary and the ZVEX guys just re-posted your interview on the ZVEX facebook page. Pretty cool!
 20. My live rig... Genz Benz Streamliner 900 Barefaced Big Twin T
 21.
thanks for the AMTP interview Shep. nice work. pity you missed 'em last thursday, you'd have loved it !
I intended to pop in, but we needed up playing until 1am!! Was a late gig.
 22. I've taken that advice and darkened the text box by reducing it's opacity from 50% to 25% - I think it was the right call! To reward you all for being so nice about the site I thought I'd publish another interview!! So, I present you, Dan Leadbetter... PLEASE BE AWARE - MY WEBSITE IS NOW CLOSED. THE INTERVIEWS CAN NOW BE FOUND HERE -> http://simonpoulton.....com/sheponbass Dan is the bass player/noise maker with Alpha Male Tea Party - One of the UK's hottest bands on the unsigned instrumental/progressive scene. AMTP produce a real barrage of frenzied guitar and bass driven grooves mixed with intricate timings, complex song structures and glorious tones. The listening experience is something very special. By their own admission they sound something like "Elton John and sausages"! All you lot may know Dan a little better as Basschat member 'D-L-B'.
 23. Text only isn't an option on the platform I use, but I could make the opaque box that the text sits in a little darker/less opaque to offset that a little. Shep
 24.
I like the design of your site, but unfortunately it is difficult to read and bad for the eyes. btw, haven't heard back from the guys yet. cheers
Cheers dude. I get total opposite sides of feedback. Some people say just that, others say its easy to read and can't see why I'd want to change it. I just asked on Talkbass too and the first reply was totally opposite! Ha. Guess asking the masses isn't going to make things any easier! If a portion of people struggle (either because it's naturally hard to read, or because they use a monitor etc that doesn't like it) then I think a redesign may be in order.
