1. I think you'll regret not being able to apply the modulation and delay lines to each other or the other loops. Do you need different compression on each channel?? Couldn't you jut put a compressor 1st and then the loops come after it. Personally I'd move the compressor to the end sonit levels and limits all channels the same and irons out any volume mis-matching between the loops. Gotta credit you for the craziness though!
2. Got a pic of my custom Xero from Taylor today - Should be with me soon!!! Sweeeeeeeeeeet!
3.
liked his approach to the set-up, and the Kaos pad looks like a fantastic device .. in the right hands (probably not mine )
Yeah - I've had a good play. They are very smart and offer lots of control. If I was playing synth or computer-based music then I think I'd have one without a doubt.
thanks shep, great as usual!
Thanks dude
4.
cool. kind of a less comedic, guitar-playing Beardyman.. (who i think ?, used a GT6 ? .. can't remember)
So nothing like Beardyman then....?
5. PLEASE BE AWARE - MY WEBSITE IS NOW CLOSED. THE INTERVIEWS CAN NOW BE FOUND HERE -> http://simonpoulton.....com/sheponbass If you don't know who THePETEBOX is yet then you will do soon! Pete is making SERIOUS noise on the live scene at the moment and running for a world record in YouTube video views. Having had the pleasure of seeing him do this stuff live a couple of times, all I can say is WOW!! Pete might not be a bass player (well he is kinda'...) but he makes some awesome music using an awesome live/studio set up. Enjoy! Shep
6. They had these in a local guitar store here in Nottingham a couple of years back. Blue, Pink & Yellow I recall seeing them in. They were about £99 if I recall. The ones that the store had in felt like they had been set up by blind monkey's! lol
Thanks dude... I've not covered everything yet, but most stuff with sound samples and explanations are covered... 8. I'll be hurling Moogerfoogers so I don't fancy your chances!
9.
I think though, without taking anything away from Shep at all, that someone like Juan simply has a wider exposure due to his position in Mars Volta & Racer X. Those record sales are going to speak for themselves when a manufacturer is looking at artists to help their exposure. Having said that, Juan has a huge collection of pedals, I believe the point of the site is so he can slowly go through those, as opposed to having manufacturers send him free/new stuff. Si
Absolutely! Though I had never heard his name until you mentioned him a few weeks ago (I know Mars Volta well - just not his name). Different circles and all that. Totally true though - He is (in the right circles) fairly famous and thats half the battle. His website looks smart too and he clearly knows a lot about what he's saying which separates him from most of the crowd. I think the site is great.
10.
For example, Shep, one of our mods is probably an equivalent to Juan. I don't see effects pedal manufacturers this side of the pond flocking to him so he can review their products.
Kiwi - Seriously dude... compliment of the year!! TC Electronic have been uber cool and supported/promoted my site (thanks Jes!) which has been amazing, other than that... I agree though, The US seem to have the promotion/marketing/exposure thing nailed.
11. Bad ain't it... Lol. Sounds banging though! This track is a killer... And my tap dancing skills are second to none for this one! Shep
i can't help but laugh that they wont all fit on a huge board! its a very nice board however! andy
12. Moved. As per forum rules and asking price needs to be stated though so ask him what price he wants on it if you could and update ASAP. Shep
13. It doesn't reproduce anything over 1500Hz... It's kinda like wider range PA Sub speakers with Alex's mathematical genius to drive it.
14. Highly unlikely there's any date done. Take a break from it. Play again tomorrow. I'm sure you'll find all is well. Ironically my Streamliner 900 stopped lighting up blue today (LED's are blown)... So a bad day for Streamliners.
15. Everything needed to play the one track we are going into the studio to record this weekend:
16.
Current setup minus the Corvid! Want to add it but the pedal train nano is truely tiny! may have to pickup the smaller polytune and then mount the power on the underside.
Looking cool dude!! As we are recording this weekend, rather than taking the huge board I thought I'd just put all the pedals I need to play the 1 track we are doing onto my Diago Showman.... .... They don't fit!!!! I can't get the pedals required to perform one song onto a large pedal board. Bad times! Lol
17. It's not too aggressive on the octave down. Much smoother than the OC2, a little more like the EBS Octabass... Though to be fair it is not as high quality sounding (a little more digital) - you get what you pay for. The octave up stuff is more digital and warbly, though I feel that gives it a synthy sine-wave like quality which I really like.
18. Yeah - basically that. Been super busy with gigs and we are recording a new single this coming weekend, plus I'm mixing a live EP at the mo and have some voice over bits to record (tomorrow maybe) on another 2 pedal demo's so I haven't had time. I'll hopefully get around to a demo in the next week or so. I'm very impressed for its size and cost though.
19. If you are hunting the net for loopers though please be aware that you are looking for a sound-on-sound looper (usually called 'looper' or 'loop pedal') and NOT a True Bypass Looper (usually called 'Bypass Looper'). The latter does not do what you are after and are far cheaper so you may find them on your google search and think you found a bargain!
20. The ability to blend a fat envelope filter with just a tiny bit of LFO (So you hear the wobble fade in when you sustain a note) is lovely. http://www.wmdevices.com/superfatman.php I use a WMD Geiger Counter too. Amazing pedals.
21. I am now rocking the WMD Super FatMan and oh my goodness is it amazing! It has replaced both my 442 & my Groove Regulator from my board, and every other envelope in my collection has gone (other than a sweepable low pass filter). Amazing Tonally and with a massive host of features. I was hoping I'd love the Source Audio BEF Pro as every raves about it and lots of guys doing similar music to myself rely on it as the main stay of their sound - I however thought it was horrid and very very digital sounding. It lacked balls when used with an octave down (not bad on a clean tone but I run an octave down pedal 90% of the time). I was all round disappointed in the unit. This is of course all a matter of opinion as lots of folks love them and it has ALOT of features and options in one box. It just wasn't for me!!
22.
For those interested, I emailed IE about the custom Xerograph: He said it would take 8 weeks to build and it would cost $495.
From a man waitin on a custom Xero (though different to Johns), I confirm this to be about right! (mine was a little less, though Johns is kinda 2 Xero's in one box!)
23. Today!! If you are in or near Bolton then come say hello!!
24. I used to have a Fafner... Sold it. Miss it. What I do musically now is very different and while I'm unsure if the Fafner will work for me and my set up I can't stop thinking that I miss it. If you have one and fancy an afternoon/evening at my studio talking bass and making noise then I will reward you with tea and any biscuit of you choice! Let me know Shep
