1.
Another great read, cheers. I've been thinking about getting some kind of dual series looper made as a smaller substitute for my WOBO. I think Max is the man for the job!
Cheers dudes!! For that kind of pedal I would think that Max is certainly the man for the job! Thanks or reading guys...
2.
Whenever I see a post in this thread I know it's gonna be something good.. Thanks for posting this Shep, I really like the sound of that burninator in the demo, sounds like a more natural mammoth.
Cheers dude! If I recall correctly that Burninator came up for sale on here not long ago! Seriously cool pedal. If anyone reads any of these interviews and enjoys them then please share the link on facebook etc - I really appreciate it and every extra reader can turn into an extra subscriber! :-)
3. Time for another interview. This time it is the pedal genius that is Max Greco of sfx sound. PLEASE BE AWARE - MY WEBSITE IS NOW CLOSED. THE INTERVIEWS CAN NOW BE FOUND HERE -> http://simonpoulton.....com/sheponbass Max is becoming a household name around these parts and some of his designs and solutions to musicians problems are really astounding. I was really keen to get Max to do one of these little interviews as he has helped me by designing gear for my needs and I consider him to be in the elite of pedal builders. Thankfully, he said yes! Enjoy! Shep
4. Nothing reported (other than this) and it's not a process I am aware of as being part of the forums software. There is a 'Capcha' box to be completed when signing up as a new member but as for the other stuff - never seen or heard of it before. I'll report it to the tech boys!
5. Parcel arrived from Mooer direct today - Speedy as hell - was sent on Thursday. very impressed. Customs had been all over it as it did look like a brick of Narcotics: Pretty cool little things, boxed nice with a little sticker: Pedals them selves seem well made - the foot switches feel a little stiff like they could do with a little lube and the lower lip of the pedal is a little rough - but given the cost of these items they are fairly moot points: Will be a couple of days before I can report back on the sound quality...
6.
Or if you've got a fair bit of money, theres the eventide pitchfactor? That can do 3rds 4th and 5ths above below aswell as all the standard octave stuff. Shep has one so im sure he'll be up for talking about it?!
The Pitchfactor is a beast for this - up for down 2 octaves and you can use every step of the ladder... And in one mode you have 4 voices at once! That setting of the pedal is basically a more versatile version of the Whammy range (though the unit does soooooo much more in other settings). It does cost a bomb though and I likely far more than you need. The POG's as mentioned already are surprisingly good for the money at the Octave up thing.
7.
The LPF is already acounted for
What he said
8.
intresting set up..3005 roscoe with tc electronic 2x10 2x12 750 rebelhead in kettering northants
Very pretty!
9.
you're getting rid of the Moog LPF?!? I thought that was the essential pedal for dubstep? I find it far too difficult to sell pedals. I always think "I might need that sound" 'cos I do a lot of recording.
It's being replaced by a custom Iron Ether Xerograph LPF which is being made CV enabled to work with the MP-201. It will basically be an LPF with envelope feature of the Moog removed (as I don't use it) and a few extra tweaks... But ye, an LPF is essential for the music I play.
10. Do what I do... I now live by a strict one out, one in rule... Makes you value the pedals you have more Recently out... Mastotron Groove Regulator Corvid Fuzz Tone Factor 442 Env EBS Unichorus Boss GEB-7 EQ Moog LPF (going) Recently in... WMD Super FatMan Fuzzrocious Grey Stache IE Xero Custom (incoming) IE FrantaBit (incoming) Mooer ShimVerb (incoming) Mooer Pitch Box (incoming) That means I have a 1 pedal credit still to use!!! YAY!
11. I use LOTS of effects - This has been discussed so many times that I'm sure it will end up being the same discussion again. It really depends on what you look for in a sound - one man loves a certain fuzz sound and another man may hate it. The sounds you think are nasty may be sounds we love. But also it depends on the music you play. Many bassists don't need them and the music has little space for them. I don't use a clean bass sound anywhere in my set... horses for courses.
Why does no-one make a tap-tempo chorus? Surely that'd get rid of the nasty out-of-time wobbles.
Moog Cluster Flux
12. I mentioned to them that they coul really do with some audio and they seemed to think that was a mammoth task. I suggested I'd do a review/demo and they seemed quite excited about it. I'm sure the octave up stuff will sound great - the octave down will be the telling point!
13. There are no samples at the mo. I'll do some when it arrives.
14. They all go on eBay at £55 each - but they offered me them at $60 each if I ordered 4 plus $36 shipping. Worked out at £44 each inc postage. Me and Ant had 2 each.
15.
That Mooer looks really interesting, I wonder if they could do me a momentary version so I can pitch up an octave, like the Boss T-Bar/S-Bend feature. Hmmm Si
I'm sure Max could mod that pretty easy!
16.
ah i see! i had a look at them this morning, didnt have time to check out the samples!looking at so much stuff at the minute! did you have to order them from the states? andy
Mooer are Chinese - I emailed and ordered direct from them.
17. It's pretty big. The Eventide won't be a perminant feature though - just for this gig and only for whammy style stuff. I'm going to add a Mooer Pitch Box which is tiny for the 2 octave up stuff...
18. There's a seller on eBay that is the Chinese stockest but having spoke with their sales manager is seems they currently only have 3 stockists and none in Europe... So either eBay or buy direct if you are buying 4 or so of them... I'll let you know how they are when they arrive.
19. My drummer is away all week and we got asked to open for a friends band - so I suggested I did an improv leve Dubstep/wobble set with their drummer and a few MC's. They went for it! So this is my mini set up for Fridays improv show... Wobble tastic!
20.
Very cool, make sure you let us know how much it goes for! Would someone mind telling me the difference between 'latching' and 'momentary' aswell as providing a couple of examples so I can go and have a look on YouTube or something please? Cheers! Alex
Alex, Quite simply... Latching is one press to turn on and one to turn off - like pretty much every pedal you own. Non-latching or momentary is only on while you hold the switch down. Shep
21. Ant on here has an Exho baby and he raves about it. Me and Ant have just ordered a pair of these Mooer pedals each - I emailed them direct and bluntly asked for discount if we bought 4 pedals direct. They were so excited they bit my hand off!! We have a Pitch Box and a ShimVerb each on the way. Glad to hear they are quite good for what they are. There were some great bits of feedback about the Mooer stuff from NAMM this year so I'm looking forward to seein what they can do at under £50 a pedal. Shep
22. I know I dont get that either. Having played with the original... I prefer the Whammy IV! though the cut of top end from the entire Whammy range does my head in. Eventide is amazing - but again, expensive!
23. Main chain... Here - http://www.sheponbass.co.uk/blog/2012/3/30/my-signal-chain-explained.html I use it for everything I used the Whammy for, plus a shed load more. The 2 octave upsound in the vid is not clean bass, it's the chain of effects I detailed above. I just turn the Pitchfactor on or off going into an out of that section of the track.
24. Eventide Pitchfactor swelling up 2 octaves. The effects being used dint change though. Sounds pretty much identical to the +2 oct on the Whammy IV though (I A/B'd them!). It's OC2 - Geiger Counter - (Pitchfactor when I swell up) - Moog ring mod - Moog cluster flux - TC Nova delay.
