1. Yeah - I've seen this discussed before. He buys them and sells them on and is allowed to use the name if I recall correctly. The Japanese stores won't ship internationally so he buys the stuff in person and then sells them on. If you google 'Human Gear Effects Germany' or similar you'll likely find discussion over it. Should be perfectly legit. Shep
 2. And the rest of the vids from the night (use good speaker/headphones - it's a tad too low for most laptop speakers!)... 3.
wish i could've been there. keep 'em coming !
Cheers Si! I think we have another 4 tracks recorded from that night. I'll pop the rest in the 'Drum'N'Bass/Dubstep' thread in the effects forum so as not too offend too many people's ears! Shep
 4. Video from last Friday's show... The place was so packed that people were outside watching through the window! We announced to the place that it was an 'open mic' and so the crowd of people in front of the stage basically passed a pair of mic's around and freestlyed. Thankfully we had some seriously local HipHip royalty in the house (Duke01, Jaws & Young Chris from Great Scott, Bru-C, MotorMouf… plus a dozen odd guys we had never met!). There are a few of these vid's to come...

 6. Moved to the right forum (posted in effects discussion).
 7. Well - I have a very supportive wife who wants me to do music. I now work part-time with her support (mentally and financially), which gives us time to do all rehearsing and practising as Our Helical Mind during the daytimes during the week. That means no rehearsals in the evenings. We tend to gig infrequently but hype and promote the shows a lot. This has worked well for us. We never play in our home town more than once every 2 months so people really want to come out again. Maybe 2 shows a month max around the UK... Often just one show. It means we concentrate on making the material amazing and never play anything that isn't bang on - also it means we spend so much time bouncing stuff off each other that when we do live improv' it just feels natural. I'd like to gig more - but this works for us. So except for the odd gig, I tend to have all my evenings free to spend with the wife/do other hobbies/write the blog etc. The Blog is taking a lot of time since the interviews have taken off and I haven't spent a whole day with my good lady in a few weeks... But as we spend most evenings together it works. While I 'work' part time, it's to make something of music so I do something every day... Either my actual job, or playing music, or writing the blog. It's full on - but in a motivating/non-pressured way.
 8. The theory was to have something that I could recreate familiar tones and textures, but take to a gig with my bass on my back and pedal board in hand an use another bands rig (currently I only ever use my own rig due to the huge sub octave I run... I'd hate to damage other people's gear). This set up is without the parallel octave split too. I'm quite excited about this
 9. Dude - you kill me with some of these basses. I LOVE these!!!
 10.
I think I could almost understand this one. Maybe. On a good day.
Ha. This is fairly simple - actually you'll see my large board is going through a streamlining process too at the mo (though it'll take some weeks to complete).
 11.
i love that this is your small board! makes me smile! my boards having a refresh atm its gotten a bit samey in sounds so im having a clearout and seeing where it takes me! andy
By small I mean I can carry it!
 12. This is now SOLD. Up for grabs is what I consider the most versatile fuzz for bass - The ZVEX Mastotron. I was going to keep this, but my FUZZROCIOUS Grey Stache seems to be nailing every fuzz tone I need at the mo. I'd really like an Iron Ether FrantaBit and that's what I'll buy if this sells, though there are a number of trades id be interested in below. The pedal is in fantastic condition though I'm not sure if I still have the box... Stuff I'm interested in... Iron Ether FrantaBit Catalinbread Heliotrope Subdecay Noisebox Malekko BIT WMD Geiger Counter Civillian Issue Bugbrand Baby BugCrusher Hexe Bit Crusher Possibly any other bit crushing/sample reducing style pedals (try me). Plus cash either way as appropriate... Would also sell for £90 posted in the UK. SOLD!!! Will upload a pic when I get to the studio in the next day or so of the actual pedal, though I don't think there's a mark on it. Shep
 13.
Niiice, will be interested to see what your custom Xerograph is like. Was it pricey? (if you don't mind me asking!) Is it just the pitch stuff that you can't recreate/estimate with this set up compared to your main board?
The Xero was quite pricey - about the same price as a new Moog LPF, but the reason for that I that it is neither the standard or the deluxe... It's a sort I hybrid of the 2 plus it's been CV enabled so 3 parameters can be controlled by the MP-201. The Xero does not normally accept CV so this change alone is an expensive one! As for recreating stuff. Yeah - the pitch and harmony stuff, plus a range of modulation (no phaser an limited in tremolo styles). I'll miss the pitch stuff, but as this is designed for a pure rhythm section role backin MC's etc I'm hoping I'll not need it.
 14.
yeh looks very cool! woh! ill bet it has! some of the sounds out of that thing sound amazing! andy
I'll do a demo soon. It's massive! On another note... A few pages back I mentioned my 'summer project' - to use my current pedals to create a 'stripped down' board for smaller shows and for backing MC's etc, rather than performing as Our Helical Mind in general. I've spent a few weeks planning and the board I settled on was a Diago Showman - large by many bassists standards, but tiny for me. It's was the most suitable size for my essentials. Its not powered or cabled yet (plugs in sockets to show me how much space I have) but here is draft 1... Proposed signal chain is... Stage Clix Wireless > Boss OC-2 > TC Electronic Polytune Mini > FUZZROCIOUS Grey Stache > WMD Geiger Counter > WMD Super FatMan > Custom Iron Ether Xerograph (in the space marked with tape) > Moogerfooger Cluster Flux > TC Electronic Flashback Delay The MP-201 will control 3 parameters of the Xero and the feedback of the Cluster Flux. It's likely to change... But this should work nice!
 15.
awesome tunes, and a great sound. thanks for bringing Ant's stuff to my attention. Sweet.
Pleasure. Ironically I had heard Castrovalva and loved the stuff for ages & I'd also dealt with Ant on here before - just never realised they were connected. It was actually Prime_BASS that suggested I interviewed Ant from Castrovalva as a big effects user from an act who are really making a name for themselves... then it all clicked into place!
Thanks Shep and Ant for this.
Thanks for taking the time to read it dude!
 16. Another? HELL YES! I give you... Antony Wright PLEASE BE AWARE - MY WEBSITE IS NOW CLOSED. THE INTERVIEWS CAN NOW BE FOUND HERE -> http://simonpoulton.....com/sheponbass Ant is the low end man from Leeds-based noise crew, Castrovalva, who have been making a serious splash on the UK music scene for a while with their fusion of sounds, which includes blending Rock & Metal tones with flavours of Dubstep & Grime. You may also know him as regular Basschatter 'Ant' :-)
 17.
Great news! So glad to hear this is on the move again!
Me too dude! FIngers crossed (speed of the 3rd party pending) we are looking at weeks now...
 18. The right company for the job has been found and it's been sent today. It is officially moving!!
 19.
nice video shep! i also saw on facebook that you have a new toy? andy
Thanks dude! TC were kind enough to put it on their Facebook page so it's had a fair few views in 24 hours. WMD Super FatMan FTW! Seriously rep'in WMD at the mo!!
 20. That's my plan for next week... There's a few bargain carpet outlets around so I'll give it a try!
 21.
Looks like you've got plenty coming and going Shep. What are the plans for your board then or is that a closely guarded secret until you've put it together?
Not too much coming and going - I'm just streamlining a little. There will be a layout change taking place and a few modifications. I should be running under the 20 pedal marker by time I'm done though
 22. Cheers bud, I already have plenty of that stuff - looking more like a metre wide though! The actual fabric off the roll.
