OK, I'll play New to this bass malarkey, so no clue if I've got the signal chain correct. Seems to sound OK though. Should probably ditch the Wah and get a smaller device for pitch shift stuff, but I need to replace the left-hand side for skinny string duties. Bass bits come off, guitar bits go on. Damn, I need 2 boards
No such thing as right or wrong where your signal chain is concerned. If it sounds good to you then that's all that matters! -
Cool. The hard case is a BEAST and not something I'd want to carry around. Purely for touring etc... so I want a case of going form A-B but also for local gigs etc where we'd just get a taxi to and fro. I do catch the bus most days though so thick cases can be an arse to slip it between the seats (oooo errr)...
I'm a great believer in using the right case for the job. I already have Hiscox cases and a couple of standard flight cases for transporting my instruments in the van with the rest of the band's gear. What I wanted was something light and comfortable to wear on my back when walking to rehearsals and for getting to gigs when we need to travel light. Hence the title of this thread. Some of the gig bags being suggested here weighed only marginally less than a Hiscox Liteflight bass case - not what you want on a half-hour walk. The Ritter gig bag I had been using was doing a fine job of protecting the bass when it was in the case, however the straps had started to wear out and looked as though they were likely to give way at any moment now. I could have bought another similar cheap(ish) case used it for a year or so until it was too worn to be secure anymore, but I thought I'd go for something a bit more robust this time. Time will tell if I've made the right choice. The Mono case gets it's first proper work out this weekend. I'll report back on how we cope.
I'm currently weighing up between the Mono M80 and the Protec Contego. The Mono seems to be winning at the mo. How have you been getting on with it? Again, this will be for walks about town and the odd bus journey (so compact and comfy) - It'll be a hard case if it's in a van etc...

Matt bought a strap off me. Polite comms' and paid super quick. Top BassChatter. Shep
I'm aiming to get 6 micro pedals (1590A format) onto a pedaltrain nano so mine will be somewhat smaller than that
Loving that! -
Iron Ether Xerograph - anyone in the UK got one?
pantherairsoft replied to pantherairsoft's topic in Effects
That's what I've got at the moment, it's great!
Totally. I use an LPF as a static/sweepable filter... I will always have an envelope filter as well (I have two at the mo). With regards to my tests... The moog and the Xero are TOTALLY differently voiced. The Moog warmer and grittier, the xero far more hi-fi. The resonance voices are different too. The Moog has serious character, and the xero more extreme. I think i prefer the plug in and play tone of the Moog, but the xero is cool and will fulfil my needs providing the custom tweaks and CV enabling can be done (bear in mind the stock units do not accept CV). I'm discussing a custom unit with Taylor @ IE so watch this space. -

The start of my super pedalboard tidy up... About a third done - tiny cable tidies!! -
Lol... Gard is on the hunt today. It's priority number 1 so hopefully not too long. Today was the aimed for completion day (stock shipment left today for Bass Direct which they hoped this would be a part of) so I know they are eager to get this moving!

Mark @ Bass Direct = Top Man = Top Service!
pantherairsoft replied to tonyf's topic in General Discussion
There are multiple threads regarding Marks top notch service around BC... I can only second what you have said above. Very helpful whatever the situation. -
Not great news but maybe it's an opportunity to nick/buy the machine off of the company that did it before?
Possibly... Knowing the perfectionism of the team though they would then want 12 months to ensure every single cut is to the same level as the ones they have been producing since time began! lol. We'll see what happens in the near future...

Nah - pretty sure everything there is standard so a Micropower and regular daisy chain should rock it!
-
Yeah all your pedals you've listed are centre negative so I'd just go with the Micropower and a short daisy chain personally. No particular reason to need isolated supplies with those.
I was just going to make that observation - I can't see anything there thats battery only!? Or centre positive...? No to whore myself out too much but theres plenty of info/suggestions etc here Shep on Bass - Pedal Power
Well with only three pedals you could go for the Diago Micropower, with an adaptor, rather than its bigger brother. Just taken delivery of one myself - perfect.
^ This. Super reliable and adapters available for what you need.

That last point is a good one... Though I do use 5 foogers and this is the only one suffering... Though it is an original big briar one and the others are slightly newer. I'll give your suggestion a go! Touching the switch gives a 'slightly' louder hum (in volume) than touching the metal chassis and in either case, also touching anything else metal removes the noise. I'll try your suggestion tomorrow if I get chance.
-
Yes! Stageclix rocks. Easy to use (I have the pack version but the jack is just as good). Battery is great. It's tiny. Can be powered on 9v daisy chains with your effects pedals (if you have a board) and I honestly can not tell the different between that and a high quality cable... Even when I'm in a different room!
-
I noticed today that my Moogerfooger Ring Mod is emitting a sub-level (SUPER low frequncy) hum when you touch it, which can be 'grounded'/muted by touching another pedal or one of the jacks else where on the board. I only noticed this with my Streamliner 900 amp up at max looking for the cause of a crackle and at playing volumes this is not audible... But now I know it's there is going to bug me. When I'm not touching the pedal it does no such thing. I've never noticed this before... But it's likely always been there - honest truth is that I don't often max out my 900w amp to listen to hiss and hum. I assume this is a grounding style issue and wondered if anyone can advise in where to look within the pedal? Shep

There's news... But not great news. I was hoping to of seen some lovely bass nearing completion, but the company that Roscoe use for custom cutting and slotting (outside of the tolerances/set ups of their machines), which I think is anything under 33" (and likely anything over 36") scale, have gone bust As they are the guys that have done all the work on rarer scale lengths for Keith and the guys, they now need to find another source/establish a new relationship with someone else who's work they can rely upon. As such, until the right person is found... This is going nowhere I do appreciate (and am thankful for the fact) that they have not just sent the bass to anyone that says they can do a good job. They want it to be up to their usual standard.
Awesome interview. I've seen Chris around on basschat but hadn't looked into his music until now! That True Tiger video was incredible.
That's great to hear - If I can open a few people's eyes to some cool musicians, doing cool things with pedals and effects, or some pedal builders making cool new toys then the whole thing is a success as far as I'm concerned -
