1. Howard bought my dodgy Hartke amp as a fix me up. Negotiated politely, paid promptly & kept in touch throughout. Top stuff. Thanks mate!
 2. I'd of tried to get down for this is I wasn't at a family party. It's a drive, but it would of been worth it!
 3. Dave, you've done it again. Managed to pull multiple awesome basses put from under the sofa at the same time! Lovely!
 4. Keep peeking at this... Throw £1200 in and I'll trade ya' for my Roscoe Fretless...
 5. Hi Sallie, Welcome to BC. Shep
 6. Awesome. looking forwards to seeing this take shape!
 7. You are limited with decent Octave units smaller than a Boss Pedal. I'd say the smallest decent one is the MXR Bass Octave Deluxe. The throaty midrange control on it sounds great before fuzz as well!
 8. I'd take my fav Octave & my fav Fuzz and put them in a tiny true bypass looper to turn them on and off. Obviously that takes up extra pedalboard space, but there's no compromise in sound!
 9.
Great review, very tempted now, Alex is in Brighton isn't he? so am I, oh dear GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS
Brighton he is - though distance is no worry. He'd get you a cab safe and sound if you were in Iraq!
 10. Hi Laurie, Welcome to Basschat. Please take some time to read the guidelines for using the marketplace - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?app=forums&module=forums&section=rules&f=19 Please state an asking price on the auction or it will need to be removed. Cheers Shep
 11. What he said ^ I you were running octave - fuzz - filter for the core of the sound you could likely get 'close' with a Wah as well. Depends if you want as close a replica as possible. At the end of the day getting the exact sound is going to take lots of post production. Just heard the live at Glastonbury version am it sounds pretty different to the album version.
 12.
Pink and green you say? Oh damn...
13.
Can't fault that, looks amazing.
Yup. I really dislike the traditional Fender body, but that looks pretty damn classy!!
 14.
Well they're not going to show you any sneak peaks of the special paint job I slipped them a fiver to do for you are they?! I told them all about your love for Mr Blobby colour schemes
Awesome! They refused to do pink and green for me! Thanks for talking them around....
 15.
Not even kidding when I say that I dreamt of busting some bit tunes out on it! I guess you are right though, for a someone like myself(still stuck in traditional land) a B makes more sense than a high C. Although if I end up with the 6 I could do more chord work and still do massive huge B(it) riffs. *drools on laptop* Can't wait to see/hear your new one though, the craftmanship is amazing on the century so much attention to detail, only matched by it's --sound.
Thanks dude, they are stunning sounding instruments. I was hoping to have some progress shots now but they seem to be playing hard to get ;-)
 16.
Theres a filter sweep in the mid part
Not sure I can stomach listening to Muse twice in one week but I'll try and have another listen later...
 17. The main riff? Sounds like octave - gated fuzz - wet sounding envelope filter. 'Typical' synth tone as it were.
 18.
Agreed! I wonder how well it will play with the BEF. Any suggestions on filter? The moog was too big!
What do you want it for? Envelope/Auto Wah duties? There are so many now it's hard to choose. I'm Still very happy with my Groove regulator. The MXR was good if not a little too wet for me. I picked up an old Tone Factor 442 Analogue Filter and that sounds awesome after fuzz! If you want an LPF and the Moog is too big it's got to be the Iron Ether - but Tonally it's TOTALLY different as a resonant filter.
 19.
I've got a dubscope on the way, interested in an EQ pedal (thanks to your blog!) and tempted by something to raise the octave.. Need a filter also.. Not sure what to get..
Really keen to hear the Dubscope - let me know how you get on!! So many toys, not enough hours...
 20.
I actually don't know anymore if what I said above is right or not, the more I read the more confused I get, I'll just accept I was always rubbish at physics and shut up
Me too. I've changed my mind. Next blog post is on Delay & Reverb! Lol.
 21.
Keep up the blog man, I've really enjoyed reading it.
Thanks dude. We need some more pedalboard pics to bring the thread back on track! ;-)
Thanks Shep...
I love that quote is your sig. I'm having that engraved on my headstone!
 22.
Not quite sure where you're headed with this ... maybe it's a more precise definition in the realms of electronics or physics. But if we're going for something precise, the wave shape would get altered by any wah (manual, enveloped, or LFO'd). It would vary between a complex waveform and a simple sine-wave when nearly closed. A phaser is (I think I'm right, correct me if I'm wrong) a comb filter where the notches' movement (the notch frequencies) are driven by an LFO, which is not really that different in principle to a wah (a resonant filter) where the peak frequency is altered by an LFO. I think I was actually trying to say something much simpler ... something that's as good as we need as musicians. Essentially, If it wobbles, it's modulation. Is that good enough ? Andy
Agreed. It gets a little complex. I figure as long as the terminology makes sense when explained then it's fine. You are correct about a phaser. It's a filter modulated by an LFO. In the same light many synthesisers have the ability to move a high or low pass filter with an envelope and it's always considered part of the modulation section. Can of worms
 23. Well that's the next blog post written! Modulation effects vs modulating effects. Written in quotes by basschatters!
