1. EBS-1v2 Preamp is sold pending/payment collection. Thanks for the all the enquiries about it folks. BUMP for the Crown XTi 1000 Power Amp
2. Orbit is traded. I have what I wanted now so the OC-2 is also for sale. OP updated. Bump for OC-2 and Fuzz Saw.
3. Hey dude. I'm 5'4" and I have arms shorter than 'average'. My 6ers have all been 35" scale (in fact every bass in the last 10 years has been 35") scale and for the last few years I've stuck to broad neck/19mm spacing... Don't let my issues put you off going for a great bass. Bass playing is not THE cause of my pains and issues, just one contributing factor. Thanks for the kind words regarding the music. There are other folks doing similar live stuff... But it sure would suck to not be doing it anymore! Just spent a day in the studio recording some ambient electronic stuff. All live takes, no overdubs or drop ins. I really hurt... But it sounds awesome!
4.
The standard prices are very achievable, even for me.! Im tempted!
DO IT!!!
The Standards are one of, if not the best deals in boutique basses(unless buying used, of course), IMO.
Agree 100%. Fantastic basses
As I sit here listening to Erasure and Depeche Mode, this is just the sort of thing I want right now. Though I'd rather have an Oberheim Xpander.
The studio we were recording at today had an old school Korg Synth in the control room - with a patch bay and all. Seriously moog-y stuff.
5. I recorded today with a Streamliner 900. DI from the head and a mic on the cab and I can honestly say that the DI sound is SUPERB. Even with my hell of a signal chain it was quiet and sounded huge. Output is perfect for recording, nothing silly.
6. If you run it into two 8 Ohm cabs then thats a single 4 Ohm draw (bridge mono). Bridge mode is a single output so you won't get an amp that has 2 outputs in bridge - Stereo is two Bridge (mono) is one. A splitter 'might' work, though I have no idea how it would cope with large amounts of power and would not image that each side would receive exactly half power so they may be imbalanced. You really need to be running in Stereo. The Streamliner is actually quite a good solution in this case as to get stereo output in 8 Ohms you need a very high powered amp. Why not give this chap a shout - http://basschat.co.uk/topic/166124-10-off-any-amplifier-with-a-basschat-review/
7. Cheers dude. That Fretless is awesome and I will miss it! The 1st Roscoe with a Bart MM pup (now offered on the spec sheets) - http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f153/d049-monkeyman-855526/
8. Really like it dude. Great sounds and a cool vibe.
9.
Shep is a pure gentleman. This unit is in top notch condition and weighs next to nothing for the power.!
Thanks dude.
Sheps, you madman!!!
Quite possibly. Space, size and simplified control seems to be recipe of the day at the mo. If I ha a less complex signal chain i'd of stuck with the amp. I want less to think about though.
I hope you got a Local Hero Endorsement on the Genz Benz......
Er. No.??? In fairness I wouldn't endorse anything that I have not pirchased, road tested/put through its paces and decided its a keeper.
10. I used to have the 5 string version (which a friend now owns - and is selling!). Yamaha BBG5 if I recall correctly. Great players for the prices and at £75 that's an uber bargain.
11.
PM'd
And replied! Just looked back over some records and found I haggled a better price than I thought on the EBS Pre. As such, I've dropped the price. It owes me less, so someone can have it for less!
12. No mate. Have tried the Shuttle before. A little harsh up top for my liking.
13. Yeah. This is being replaced with a Genz Streamliner 900. The Genz has a few set backs over this set up (less low lows and super highs, plus the crown is very good at keepin a quiet signal chain, where as the Genz amplifies my noise a little), but I need something simpler for a tour we are planning I'm teaching myself to rely on the PA a little more (The EBS/Crown pretty much let's you be the PA!).
14. Well... Due to a mission to simplify my set up in preparation for some serious gigging later this year along with spending some time working with a local sound engineer I have been able to cure myself of the need to do everything myself and let the club PA do some work for me. As such I am offering my awesome Pre & Power set up for sale.... Crown XTi 1000 power amp. [s]£275 plus shipping.[/s] SOLD EBS-1v2 Rack Preamp [s]£375 plus shipping.[/s] SOLD PM me for details etc...
15.
Whammy IV does it fine, unless you want to play chords, in which case its the DT, as the IV gets a lot of digitsal interefereence when trying to track chords
The IV is Monophonic and incapable of tracking more than single notes. When you play chords you get a note that glitches and jumps as it can't figure out what the note is. It's an interesting effect! lol. I had a DT and it tracks chords great.
16. Hopefully going to get some progress shots on the body shaping for this beauty very soon! Seriously excited about this now. Still looking to re-house the Fretless... I'm going to miss that bass :-(
17. I found the HOG to have a very slight delay. It may surprise you to know but the Pitchfactor does as well when in pitch bend mode. It's minor, but it's there. Whammy IV & DT were the only pedals that didn't , but they have their own set backs. I've found the millisecond delay to not be an issue with my playing so it hasn't bothered me.
18. You could get a GigRig adapter to provide it more juice (like the SupaNova etc - just pick the right one for the voltage etc), expe dive though. Nice board by the way.
19.
Nice Nerve reference in there. +1
Cheers dude. Please comment on the post, or any of the blog posts if you have some input/something to add/questions etc. spread the word, share on Facebook etc etc...
20. I've had my eye on the Hexe for a while... That Mammoth clone sounds amazing. I could never get s Mammoth to sound like that, but i do use an active bass. I now use a Mastotron which reacts much better to an active, but still can't get quite that sound... Shep
21. New blog post - somewhat relevant to this thread.... Shep on Bass: Blog - When analogue meets digital.
22. I've never seen a fake that came sealed in what looks like an official REAN bag so I'd likely go with a real bad batch. Maybe whatever is applied to the plugs during the manufacturing finishing process was not applied, causing the plug to tarnish. Maybe some liquid or cleaner touched it when you have wiped pedals down in the past that just doesn't agree with the compound of the metal? Who knows. Have you ever used any switch cleaner in the pots or sockets of any of the pedals the plug has ever been in? Stick to proper Neutrik! Or George L's for patch cable!
23. Packet looks correct. I can't see in that pic, but on the silver/grey section of the packet should be the items code (NYS207 etc etc) stamped in black. We're they all sealed in packets like that it did you buy some as just plugs? Copy versions I've seen came in a clear little zip lock bag instead). Shep
24. I used to work for a company that sold Neutrik. They are from the REAN range, which is like Squire to a Fender - Neutriks budget/entry level range: http://www2.neutrik.com/re/en/audio/210_1944774003/NYS207_detail.aspx The full spec Neutrik right angles look like this: http://www2.neutrik.com/uk/en/audio/210_t2_3588585/NP2RX_detail.aspx Your straight plug you have is a Neutrik not a REAN. There LOTS of fakes of the REAN range as they effectively are a cheap chinese version of the expensive stuff. If I recall (I may be wrong) the real ones are stamped inside with the REAN logo and are very clean in the edges (no sharp bits etc). We used to sell an identical cheap version of the REAN connector you have there too and I struggled to tell them apart. The REAN one was about £2.10 and the chinese one was about 75p. My money is that that is not a REAN connector. Due to the amount of fakes, that particular style has been discontinued as far as I'm aware and the REAn range is not introducing an alternative. I've been using using Neutrik plugs on audio cables for instrument to amp etc (I use George L's on my board) and have gigged the hell out of the same 3 cables - the plugs all still look like the day I bought them.
25.
I've been looking into getting a gigrig soon and would need to power my SS so if the OP isn't interested Shep I probably would be.
Cool. The adapter will work with any daisy chain or 9v power supply as long as it supplies enough juice. The GigRig Generator is obviously the weapon of choice, but a lots will work with it.
Maybe this would work?
This is the adapter I mentioned in my post above. Unfortunately, having checked the MB pedals manual, like the Super Synth, it required a 600Ma draw and so its unlikely the adapter will allow enough juice for the pedal to power correctly. The adapter I had made is 2 of those exact adapters wired together for double the headroom.
