Whammy IV does it fine, unless you want to play chords, in which case its the DT, as the IV gets a lot of digitsal interefereence when trying to track chords
The IV is Monophonic and incapable of tracking more than single notes. When you play chords you get a note that glitches and jumps as it can't figure out what the note is. It's an interesting effect! lol. I had a DT and it tracks chords great.

Hopefully going to get some progress shots on the body shaping for this beauty very soon! Seriously excited about this now. Still looking to re-house the Fretless... I'm going to miss that bass :-(

I found the HOG to have a very slight delay. It may surprise you to know but the Pitchfactor does as well when in pitch bend mode. It's minor, but it's there. Whammy IV & DT were the only pedals that didn't , but they have their own set backs. I've found the millisecond delay to not be an issue with my playing so it hasn't bothered me.

Post your pedal board - Basschat style!!
pantherairsoft replied to dudewheresmybass's topic in Effects
You could get a GigRig adapter to provide it more juice (like the SupaNova etc - just pick the right one for the voltage etc), expe dive though. Nice board by the way. -
Nice Nerve reference in there. +1
Cheers dude. Please comment on the post, or any of the blog posts if you have some input/something to add/questions etc. spread the word, share on Facebook etc etc...

My Pedal Demo Video collection - *FREE PEDAL GIVEAWAY!*
pantherairsoft replied to I am not excane's topic in Effects
I've had my eye on the Hexe for a while... That Mammoth clone sounds amazing. I could never get s Mammoth to sound like that, but i do use an active bass. I now use a Mastotron which reacts much better to an active, but still can't get quite that sound... Shep -

I've never seen a fake that came sealed in what looks like an official REAN bag so I'd likely go with a real bad batch. Maybe whatever is applied to the plugs during the manufacturing finishing process was not applied, causing the plug to tarnish. Maybe some liquid or cleaner touched it when you have wiped pedals down in the past that just doesn't agree with the compound of the metal? Who knows. Have you ever used any switch cleaner in the pots or sockets of any of the pedals the plug has ever been in? Stick to proper Neutrik! Or George L's for patch cable!

Packet looks correct. I can't see in that pic, but on the silver/grey section of the packet should be the items code (NYS207 etc etc) stamped in black. We're they all sealed in packets like that it did you buy some as just plugs? Copy versions I've seen came in a clear little zip lock bag instead). Shep

I used to work for a company that sold Neutrik. They are from the REAN range, which is like Squire to a Fender - Neutriks budget/entry level range: http://www2.neutrik.com/re/en/audio/210_1944774003/NYS207_detail.aspx The full spec Neutrik right angles look like this: http://www2.neutrik.com/uk/en/audio/210_t2_3588585/NP2RX_detail.aspx Your straight plug you have is a Neutrik not a REAN. There LOTS of fakes of the REAN range as they effectively are a cheap chinese version of the expensive stuff. If I recall (I may be wrong) the real ones are stamped inside with the REAN logo and are very clean in the edges (no sharp bits etc). We used to sell an identical cheap version of the REAN connector you have there too and I struggled to tell them apart. The REAN one was about £2.10 and the chinese one was about 75p. My money is that that is not a REAN connector. Due to the amount of fakes, that particular style has been discontinued as far as I'm aware and the REAn range is not introducing an alternative. I've been using using Neutrik plugs on audio cables for instrument to amp etc (I use George L's on my board) and have gigged the hell out of the same 3 cables - the plugs all still look like the day I bought them.

Diago Micropower/Markbass Distorsore compatability
pantherairsoft replied to rapscallion's topic in Effects
I've been looking into getting a gigrig soon and would need to power my SS so if the OP isn't interested Shep I probably would be.
Cool. The adapter will work with any daisy chain or 9v power supply as long as it supplies enough juice. The GigRig Generator is obviously the weapon of choice, but a lots will work with it.
Maybe this would work?
This is the adapter I mentioned in my post above. Unfortunately, having checked the MB pedals manual, like the Super Synth, it required a 600Ma draw and so its unlikely the adapter will allow enough juice for the pedal to power correctly. The adapter I had made is 2 of those exact adapters wired together for double the headroom. -
Diago Micropower/Markbass Distorsore compatability
pantherairsoft replied to rapscallion's topic in Effects
The MB pedals have a massive power draw and won't work correctly if they receive 9v. I'm not sure about the distortion, but the super synth needed 600Ma!! I tried a few high current adapters, some wouldn't work with the pedal at all, others worked, but it died after 10 minutes. In the end I spoke to Dan & TheGigRig who modded one of his SupaNova adapters (wired 2 together) to give it oodles of power on tap and that worked fine. I no longer use the Super Synth, but still have the adapter, so if the Distortion has similar power requirements and the guys at Diago can't help, let me know. -

My answer is within this thread from the last person who asked the (almost the same) question - http://basschat.co.uk/topic/166022-why/ xgsjx sums it up nicely though.
I'd love to hear this!
Links in sig bud!
If it's an amp with a digital front-end, does it allow for a hard limiter to be programmed in as a second preset separate to what you use? That with a subsonic filter would give as close to bomb-proof a set-up as you could ever get...probably even more than letting someone use your cab with an unknown amp (as I bet your amp has DC and generally more sophisticated failsafes)
It does. I have a limiter set and a high pass filter at 35hz with a 48db/oct roll off. If you hit the limiter though it sounds NASTY. Sounds as though the cab has exploded with an abrasive bang. Worlds scariest limiter!

Questions to owners of the MarkBass Super Synth
pantherairsoft replied to 1976fenderhead's topic in Effects
Get the software on. You can control the sensitivity, the resonance, the envelope amount, as well as the attack and decay of the filter. That's before you start tuning the oscillators. The default settings are more of a 'showroom' tour. It's a pedal you need to be happy to spend a few hours with having it hooked up to a computer and an amp to play with stuff. Your nighles though, are solvable via the software. -
I'm always cool with the bass cab, as long as people are polite enough to ask in advance and treat it with respect. You are right if no one ever wanted to share gear then gig logistics would be a nightmare. There are limits though. The main reason my amp is off limits to others is that it's a 1400w PA power amp which has be tuned by computer to the gain structure of my slightly unique effects set up. Clipping an amp at 1400w is not good for my cab and as I can't just flick a switch and it be tuned perfectly for the input gain of other bassists I don't allow the risk. Our drummer is in a similar position. His kit is a hybrid. 3 snares. No Toms. No kick (a floor tom on a side mount). The entire kit is tuned up so it sits well above the bass. Other drummers don't want to play it... And we sound a bit naff if we use another ('regular') kit, as we have invested an awful lot of time and money in creating a sound. Basically if we play a show we need to do a full back line swap with exception of bass cab. We are a 2-piece though so that balances it out ;-)

Lol. Now you mention it, at the same gig the sound man came up to me and told me he thought I had the "Best sounding Warwick i've ever heard". It was one of those nights.
Ah, I thought it was 2 little bits of velcro. The stuff with the full size pedal was rubbish. I applied it, stuck pedal to board, the next day went to move the pedal and it left the velcro behind...
I had the same experience. Nice thought. Bad execution. I kinda like supplying pedals with rubber feet to stick on rather than them being stuck on and having to pry them off though.
Thanks for the link, going to order some stuff later. It also looks a handy place to get tools for the Cat Burglar business. Garry
Lol... Yeah. I never really looked at what else they sell. I found them searching 'Procell' on eBay and never really looked into what else they sell. Interesting!
-
No supplied Velcro with this one! You get 2 little rubber feet to add if you don't Velcro it (rather than ones you need to remove if you are going to Velcro it), but no Velcro supplied.
-
Works perfectly as a chromatic tuner on my 6 string, just as te regular one does... And you'd expect and decent chromatic tuner to do so. Screen is large enough and bright enough on stage for tuning as well.

I always get mine form the same eBay store - http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Babz-Media/DURACELL-PROCELL-BATTERIES-/ £7.49 for 10 Duracell Procells. More you buy cheaper they are as well. I've been using them for all batteries for about 18 months now. Generally arrive within 2 days, often next day and usually free delivery too!
