This sums up everything I don't like about most 'funk'. Bland and uninspiring to my ears. Still, I don't think it helps that I find Jay Kay so annoying. (anyone else remember that video of him getting headbutted by a photographer? much mirth )

Hi, I'm not gigging anymore, so, regrettably my gear has to go. I've had this Ampeg SVT-6 Pro for a couple of years now. I bought it from the US and it's served me really well. It's packed with trouser-flapping power and has a full-bodied sound. I also recently spent quite a bit having it re-valved - only because I wanted to up the quality another notch. So, now it has four Harma ECC83 Retros and two 5814A EA Electron Tubes and it seems to have given the sound an extra edge. In the time I've had it, it's developed one fault (the power switch started sparking), but Panic Music (Ampeg specialists) repaired it to full working order - and that's how it is now - a lovely amp with all the power you should ever need. £550 delivered. If you want to collect (I'm in Swindon), it's yours for £500 - SOLD. PDF manual here. Cheers, Steve

I recommend buying second-hand - you don't pay full whack and if you don't like it, you can sell it on, like this little lot here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=100312 Ahem.

Hi folks, I'm not gigging now and for the foreseeable future, so I'm selling all my pedals and things that go with them. I'd prefer payment by BACs (easy to do through online banking) or Paypal payment sent as a 'gift'. If you'd like to buy, let me know, and I'll send you my account details. SFX Split & Mix Blender - top quality true bypass pedal that allows you to a) blend sounds from your pedals to taste, b ) mix the pure sound of your bass with an effect - for example, when you want to add some depth to pedals that suck low end from your tone, such as overdrive/distortion. You can also use it as a DI/splitter box, for example, when sending your bass signal to two amps. As far as I can tell, it does exactly the same job as the Xotic Blender but for a more affordable price.[s]£85[/s] [s]£80[/s] £75 posted. (mint condition - new, this costs £105) INFO Cheers - any questions, just ask. Why, how and when did bass become synonymous with hats? Are we more follically bereft than other musos or trying to look windswept and interesting? (Hey girls, I might play bass but I'm not dull as dishwater. Honest.) Saying that, I'm gonna go for this season's 'Whispering Grass' range!

Hawkwind - some great (and under-appreciated) bass playing

Gah... this thread's got me digging up my favourite Hawk basslines/tones.... Orgone Accumulator - nice tubey and compressed solo from around 5 mins 50... Dust of Time...
