8. Hi folks, my pedal clearout continues. This is a great pedal - fantastic for 70s funkdom and my favourite of blending with overdrive and octave for brontosaurian synth tones. I just have no need for it, but will be sad to see it go. It's not the very latest 'true bypass' version but it is a 'Black Label'. In my experience, there's no difference in sound quality in isolation or on a pedal board - the buffered bypass on these pedals were already excellent, and I suspect EBS made a 'true bypass' version to satisfy fashionable demand. The pedal is very slightly scratched but works perfectly. I'd like £80 for the pedal and postage - and paid by BACS - you can do this quickly online or by calling the bank, and it avoids those pesky PayPal fees. If you want to buy, PM me, and I'll send you my account details. Cheers, Steve

11. Hi folks, this is a great chorus/flanger pedal - but I've discovered I have no use for chorus at the moment. It isn't the latest 'true bypass' models - but it is 'Black Label'. In my opinion, there is no difference between these and the true bypass versions - the buffers in the pedals were already great quality, but everyone started shouting for 'true bypass' so, as fashion dictates, they catered for the demand. Comes with box and instructions. £80 posted - payment by BACS transfer please. If you're buying, I'll give you my account number and sort code - then it's easy to transfer through your online bank account or by calling your bank. (It also avoids paypal fees). I'll post pictures tonight. Thanks, Steve
12. Hi folks, I'm not gigging or rehearsing, so some gear has to go. The Line 6 LowDown LD150 is a great little amp: punchy, portable and with an impressive array of sounds (the 'synth' setting is incredible.) It does everything from clean hifi through to rock Ampeg and metal grind. Here's the Line 6 site description... (web page) ... the user manual. (PDF) ... and a chart of useful presets. (PDF) I'd like £150 paid by BACs transfer (I'll provide my account number and sort code - if you haven't done this before, give me a shout, and I'll talk you through it - it's a good way to avoid PayPal fees.) You can collect from me in Swindon, Wiltshire. Or, if you prefer, I can deliver at an additional expense. Based on entering the dimensions below on www.parcel2go.com, the delivery cost can be anything from £20 to £40 plus vat. Shipping dimensions are: Weight: 62.7 pounds Height: 25 inches, Width: 20 inches, Length: 20 inches Thanks, Steve
13. Great pedal, bargain price.
14.
You may have just wiggled one of the valve bases loose when changing the valves, may have had a nearly dry joint already and the added pressure wiggled it free. Don't worry, there was no way you could have known it would happen. Should be a quick, easy fix for any professional tech. If you happen to have any contact cleaner, have you tried using it to clean the valve sockets? It is also possible they are just a little oxidised, and just need a bit of a clean.
Thanks escholl, Ifalex, Mr Foxen... Escholl... I think you're right - I'm taking it to an amp repairman this afternoon - I don't trust my fat fingers any more! Cheers, Steve
15.
was it crackling to begin with, and that was why you initially replaced the valves? It may very likely be a dry joint or loose connection within the amplifier. How handy are you with electronics?
Hi, I just changed the tubes in an outburst of GAS. There wasn't a crackle before I changed them. I'm not that handy with electronics unfortunately so I think I'll seek professional help! Cheers
16. Well, I thought all was fine... then played gig and the sound was very crackly. It was actually going crackly when I first put the valves in. I put the old valves back in - same problem. So back in with the new valves, then I screwed the cover on, put it in the rack case, and all seemed fine... but was not to be... Does anyone know what the problem might be and if/how it can be solved? Thank you folks!
17. Ou7shined and Chris - thanks so much for taking the time to reply - I really appreciate it. Problem is solved now - its four 12AX7s in J11, J14 and the front two slots... and two 12AU7s in slots J12 and J39. Thanks again - people like you make this forum a godsend - cheers! Steve
18. And BottomEndian - thank you sir for confirming what Phil from Audio Spares has told me... you are exactly right! Never again will I whip things out before writing down what they are. Brilliant stuff, thanks folks, this forum is bloody great. Cheers! Steve
19.
At a guess (completely uneducated mind you) I would say that the four 12AX7 valves go in the top four wholes of the picture, and the other 2 go in the erm... other two. Just makes sense to e as it looks like the lower two are on the preamp board and the upper four are on the poweramp board Don't take my word as gospel though! I'll try and find something to back up my guesses. EDIT: If you can decipher them, schematics are on post 7 here
Thanks so much for taking the time to reply allighatt0r - I really appreciate it. I've had two independent sources confirm the correct placement now... it's 12AX7s in J11, J14 and the front two preamp slots... and 12AU7s in the J12 and J39 slots. My god, that was a close call. Cheers mate! Steve
20. I've got a gig tonight and thought it would be a good idea to buy some nice new tubes from the lovely people at Watford Valves. I whipped out the old valves from my Ampeg SVT-6 Pro and didn't note which valves went where. Yes, I'm an idiot, I know. To cut a long story short, I need to put the original valves back in. There are four 12AX7 valves and two 12AU7 valves. I've hunted high and low for a schematic - called Panic Music, spoken to Watford Valves, and left a message with Loud Technologies and no ones entirely sure what goes where. Can anyone help??? I've attached a picture of the empty valve slots! Thank you folks!! Steve

22. I can heartily recommend this: http://www.sfxsound.co.uk/mainpage.asp?page=sm I bought one a few weeks ago was going to write a review on here... just haven't had the time as yet. It's perfect for me - allowing me to mix my clean bass signal in with any effect. I .use it with a Big Muff and Barber Ltd Silver overdrive pedal - so I get a nice bottomy crunch (or a nice crunchy bottom, whatever takes yer fancy). I cut through all the time, unless the guitarist is buzzsawing like a maniac. (In which case, no amount of knob fiddling will make a blind bit of difference.) Highly recommended - and costs a lot less than the Xotic Blender equivalent.
23.
A key part of that tone is looking really smug and wearing a silly hat so don't forget that.
I really admire the playing on this - not just Jaco but all of them - and wish I could come even slightly close to that ability. Real chin strokers music though. Not my cup of char at all.
24.
from what i recall - there was nothing to be ashamed of mate!
Thanks fella, I don't really know any other bass players, so I can never get a second opinion.
