1. i'll be banging on my Drummer's e-door within the next day nagging him to get this! i used to live in Trimley, right near Ipswich.
2.
no need to put your multi effects in the effects loop
Unless you got ampeg
3.
I'm no expert but the myspace page says London.
thank you! Any idea which part?
4. yeah yeah I knew for quite a while that things were overdubbed. but not to this extent! i always though 'oh I missed a note there, I'll just re-record this chorus', but it's ridiculous the amount of overdubbing. lol at rush 'live-ish'
5. I did start a thread about this and how it's like that cousin you have funny feelings for...
6. hell yeah! I wouldnt want to be seen dead with it but I alsolutely love it! A bit like <someone finish this sentence for me for 5 points>
7. I've been talking to a lot of record producers/mixers/recorders and the general impression I'm getting is that there is a LOT of post-event stuff that gets recorded and tracked into live albums (ok, duh I knew that already). One of them sarcastically said 'cos we'd never take a studio track and just put a congregation singing behind it haha'. hmm, i understand (especially) if the singing wasn't that great on the night, but I don't like buying live albums now, just doesn't seem... right.
8. +1, I smell a scam - The seller would have nothing to sell and would have nop way of proving they donated. hmm...
9.
Can you get on with playing the music? (I find I'm much more tolerant of music if I'm playing it rather than just listening to it). If so do the audition. It'll be good practice/experience at the very least. Remember that you're auditioning them as much as they are you. Only thing to consider is that if even half of what they claim is true they have big ambitions. Would you be prepared/able to put your education plans on hold to make this band work?
+1 - top quality advice there
10. hmm, my guitarist has one - says it's the only od/distortion he will ever buy. I'll give it a whirl at the next rehersal and might get back to you
11. Dangerous - House of heroes
12. I can memorise 20.... ...million. I think generally, of the songs I play, I can pick up 70% of them after maybe one listen, and immediately play about 40-50%. So of all the song's I've played... ooh.
13. I'm just wondering if he Di's pre-EQ or if he gets mic'd up. Because I recently went to a gig at the o2 to see delirious play and the bass tone was amaaazing. I know the guy that does the in-ears and I know their sound techhie, so I talked to them and the sound techhie said that they'd recently installed new woofers into the o2 which apparently were 'very nice'. I was a bit disappointed because he was using a different amp, but the sound i could hear was taken before his amp
14. 2 plectrums and a rat's tail ok to contribute?
15. personally I find your lack of faith disturbing (i've got your lead singer's t-shirt)
16. +1 to that. I seem to know more than our drummer about the kick pattern 90% of the time - usually mucks the song up if you do the original!
17. in before the lock So are we just being randomly drunk?
18. I'm loving that marshall stack on there- just adds the little more 'oomph' dont ya think?
19. I was talking to you... double fail. haha, no it just sounded like you got caught out: 'what did you mean?' 'eerrr, yeahh ermmm wellll..... it's not that important'
20. I used the wah lead guitar effect when I did a section in 'Mechanical Minds' just after the solo - sounded pretty cool http://www.myspace.com/bandhybridhybrid
21. it was only a matter of time... dunno what you class THAT as...
22.
Just listen to the recordings and play what the bass does. If you can't hear what the bass is doing then make something up that sounds right. Same with the songs that have no bass part on the recording.
+100000000000000000000000000 Can't stress enough how amazingly important it is to be able to pick something up by ear. Just today I was playing in front of about 500 people (@ my church) and the worship leader went into a song we hadn't got music for and builded up straight away and so the drummer (being both female and a drummer) built up and went quite heavy into the chorus. i worked out the chords and played, the guitarist and the keyboard player stood/sat there like a numpty cos they didn't know the chords
23. subscribed. I suffer too much from untreated SHS
24.
I've got the same problem but I've got an audition as a vocalist tomorrow. I've been taking Nigroids which taste like s*** but are good, also soluble asprin in water and gargling helps Good luck
I wasn't joking about the ribena - it really does help. and it tastes amazing as well haha
