[quote name='clauster' post='616680' date='Oct 4 2009, 06:00 PM']That'll be the EHX one then? [url="http://www.ehx.com/products/22-caliber"]Electro Harmonix micro power amp[/url] Edit for link[/quote] ah yes I was getting mixed up. Thats the one I saw. Pretty neat idea.

This thread kinda reminds me of...
-
There's an MXR micro power amp out recently if I remember - it's literally the size of a nano small stone.

hahaa, I'm saving that quote for later reference haha

[quote name='ped' post='615956' date='Oct 3 2009, 05:59 PM']Well I don't know if they read my post and were on high alert but I went in today with a lady and they said hello, asked if I needed any help and were all quite friendly! I didn't play anything though - if I had they would have rightly sent me straight out. ped[/quote]why?
-
We might be supporting [dweeb] some time next year o.O!! And we've supported another band who's name escapes me. bugger! Must remember..... Not that anyone would recognise them.
-
We played a gig where there was a couple arguing literally throwing glasses and pool balls at each other. Needless to say we carried on playing - what a waste of good beer!

[quote name='ped' post='615529' date='Oct 3 2009, 10:12 AM']I am in London this weekend so I might pop in today 'undercover' and see what happens.... Cheers ped[/quote] If I were you I wouldn't. they've got an A4 page with your face on it and 'WANTED - dead or alive' below it. You walk in there and you're a dead man. haah

[quote name='The Funk' post='603317' date='Sep 20 2009, 06:00 AM']No, it's not. I have one and even though I do like it, it doesn't give me the Ampeg sound that [i]I'm[/i] after. For that, I think an Ampeg SVP-CL or SVP-Pro preamp would be ideal. The DI has only one valve and no kind of overdrive. It gives a nice, round, warm, clean sound - not the cranked Ampeg sound.[/quote] I appprear to have been out-ampeg'd

wow, has no one made the obvious joke yet? wow. Yeah all of the above are great and I've bought from (nearly!) all of them.

On the night, be ready for the next song! There's nothing worse than finishing a song quickly, then the drummer clicking in straight away without you knowing the key

[quote name='Protium' post='611004' date='Sep 28 2009, 04:02 PM']When you first power it up set the volume to zero, this is a very loud pedal [/quote] Really? With mine it's silent at 0, and then at about 1 or 2 ( or 7 o'clock) it suddenly turns into a BEAST! Oh and I put this through my Hartke preamp with full grit and harmonics and got myself a perfect supermassive black hole tone

100% House of Heroes. Can't think of funnier people to play with.
-
the way effects are going, you will NEVER run out of sounds. as for techniques? anyone play foot slap bass?
-
-
nice! OT, but I've just seen one of the new ampeg transparent basses - look nice! Probably sound like sh*t for the price!
-
hmmm, I think I'll get a cupid's dead bass cover up here once I finally work out that ONE fill and manage to play it!

[quote name='slaphappygarry' post='610604' date='Sep 28 2009, 08:43 AM']I do a lot of these recordings and some of them are touched up under microscopic scrutiny. Some jobs I have to edit out a train wreck which involves dubbing bits. Some Jazz recordings I have done go down and then go out as they happened. Its very interesting to hear what you think about all this. 90% of the time its down to my client as to what they want. Garry Ps - I regularly thicken up crowd noise if it is a quiet gig / huge hall / pathetic response on a particular track / to hide some chat and I have never considered this as 'cheating'..[/quote] no it's not at all cheating. I think it's cheating when you re-record an [i]entire[/i] track in the studio because 'some of it was slightly out of time, and ok, maybe the vocals just went off here a bit, so we'll re-record the whole track. Oh crap, the drums missed a snare, right, in the studio you go'. I think that minor touch-ups and re-recording bits of it are fine, it's just when they muck up a track and, because its a good song, they [i]have[/i] to have it on the live album, so they re-record all of it and stick some crowd in it.

I would've thought that it would be illegal to sell something as a 'live' album that says it's recorded live at x location, when it's actually all done in the studio?
-
[quote name='Stuart Clayton' post='610280' date='Sep 27 2009, 07:58 PM']I think I read that Kiss's Alive album was redone in the studio. I think the only original elements are the drums and audience Stu[/quote] The thing is that the albums that I was talking to this guy (who will remain unnamed for now ) was talking about only the audience being the original part - and even then all of that has to be trimmed and faded and mixed together. So it turned out to be a studio album with a congregation singing behind it. and people pay money for what they think they heard on the night!!! Isn't that illegal?! (cue The Funk for legal advice)

[quote name='Kev' post='609945' date='Sep 27 2009, 11:34 AM']try inventing your own witty reply [/quote] oops, meant to put quote tags on it  I've literally just stopped playing around with my effects just now (whilest playing along to muse) and the closest I've got to a supermassive BH (which is very close) is to get my woolly mammoth clone on full wool, half pinch, full EQ, and to run it through my Hartke pre-amp and then into my ashdown Mag-300 combo with 4x10s through the return on the fx loop. It sounds just like it

Nononono! It's 12 amps, 26 big-muffs, 5 overdriven, 2 overclocked, 3 lightly toasted and 17 in tomato sauce, with a dab of HP sauce and some coffee
