Would love to see some shared boards for the Dwarf if you’ve published them 🙌
-
Yeah they say it’s a more tube-like preamp. It’s definitely all about A, I just wish B had a little more character (the very specific character that I like to be precise 😂). As a boost though it’s great with the A side to really push that gain.
-
Yeah I think you’re right actually! Cool will order a sample pack. I’ve experimented with a few other brands but always end up playing for a few hours before shifting them to a backup bass and popping the DRs back on. Keen to see how these go!!!
-
I’m a big fan of DR strings but always keen to support a small local maker. So for a hi beam alternative Diamond hex core is the way to go I’d imagine?
-
So one thing that I always find a little underwhelming on the Capo is the B side. The most use I’ve gotten out of it is just thickening/boosting the A side. As a standalone preamp though I’m really not into the sound. It’s been particularly noticeable compared to the Model Fet, it gives that full thick valve sound and reacts amazingly to other drives. I lack the musical vocabulary to properly describe it but there’s a velvety smooth texture it gives to any high gain tones. Do people use B solo or is it just a boost?

It’s pretty noisy and abrasive tbh 😂
-
Got my model fet back on the board so naturally had to have a play with signal chain order. And here’s the reassembled board getting some QC from the cat. Forever faffing with pedalboards ✊
-
Thank you! Although I really didn’t do it justice! It’s really fun to play with the loops like this, super powerful.
-
@Chadu25 This is how mines wired up to the GT1000core. You could do the same with the stomp. I know it looks pretty crazy but it means you can go into the Capo to keep the Pre DI totally clear while also letting me move my analog pedals in GT loop 1 and the preamp portion of the Capo in GT loop 2 freely. The output of the GT is then passed back to the Capo post loop return and then sent via post DI to FOH and/or my amp. I also have the option to run the other stereo out of the GT straight to my amp and run a cab sim on the output to FOH too although yet to find a need for that with the Capo.
-
I’d hang on to it though, like @tayste_2000 says there’s a strong chance you’ll try it in a few months with a comp and have to pick one up again 😂
-
Na definitely a subtle compression going on, I have so much clean blended in on my Alma comp it mat as well not be there. I think between the Capo, drive pedals and valve amp there’s a whole lot of squish and saturation happening that really make it a little redundant. The only reason I’ve still got it there really is that it seems to help with octave tracking.

What are you listening to right now?

These guys are excellent, can’t wait to see them next month! -
@admiralchew They do some exellent gear. The OxEAE Fuzz is a beast, it's surprisingly versatile in what it can do but everything it does is pretty gnarly. I think my favourite pedal is still the Halberd, I didn't expect to be blown away but I think it's my second favourite pedal after the Capo.

Mini board with band essentials for an upcoming video/recording session. I wanted to keep it small n simple, it’s pretty EAE heavy 😂 Im trying to weigh up between keeping the OxEAE Fuzz and Dagger or ditching one for the Alma comp.

Yeah I think you’re absolutely right. We have someone programming the lighting, we just need to give them some notes where we want specific stuff. I’ve learned a lot about after effects this week 😂
-
Yeah!!!! That’s excellent! Think once I get a bit further with the underlying shapes I’ll start taking some inspiration from that. Love all the animated compression artefact effects there.
-
It’s been a learning process picking up After Effects for the first time properly in about 10 years 😂
-
Well started playing with some basic shapes and adding waves and distortion with a little chromatic aberration. For the intro something like this with silhouettes initially then lighting kicking in when we all come in: Luminaire.mov then get progressively more chaotic until the breakdown: Luminaire Bridge.mp4 It’s really hard to force yourself into remembering it’s just a backdrop and not an actual music video, it’s more just an extension of the lighting. Think it’ll look good once it’s done as long as we can keep in time 😂

Amazing work dude!!! 🙌🙌🙌 -
First practice with the BB734. When I got it out everyone looked concerned that I’d replaced the Schecter J4 but as soon as I stated playing and they all agreed it was a keeper. They’re a tough crowd to win other with bass acquisitions so that’s a pretty big win.

I think the CPU would reduce the need for Portals which would help, I’d be curious how much of the latency comes from the software vs hardware for sure! Keep us posted!!! -

The big issue with adding send and returns is that latency very rapidly becomes an issue. Using the 2nd channel as an FX loop doubles the latency, adding portal for reduced CPU practically doubles again to the point it’s pretty noticeable. Any more and I’d say it would be unusable, even given my fairly high tolerance for latency. I think my GT1000 with both fx loops used still comes in at around 4-6ms, the Dwarf with a single fx loop and portals was hitting around 30+ I think. -

It’s an excellent unit, really need to find more time for a play. Think I’m gonna have to rearrange some pedals to make a slimmed down gig board without all the extra toys. Think I’ll use it as an opportunity to set up the Dwarf with some of the drives and stuff that don’t make the cut to experiment with. Maybe try some more modelling. It’s a great product, just a shame they don’t have more funding to take it to the next level. -
In my head it wound be more like this sort of thing: (I forgot to add it to the post) Although I think it’s probably going to end up being some kind of solid colours, possibly with some abstract blended footage for texture due to time constraints. Lots of flickering and distortion as the some goes on. If we had another week or two I think it’d be way more manageable and could’ve done something more ambitious. Sadly no green screen option!

Haha how have I never seen this video 👌
