  1. Hey! Selling my much loved 5 string ash corvette, plays beautifully and (controversially) I think this is even prettier than the bubinga versions, it's probably lighter too 🙌 Currently looking for £650 collected, seems like waaaay below the price of other similar ones but I could do with the money and it's had some modifications mentioned below👇 Not really sure on the specs aside from the ash body, ovankol neck and ebony fretboard. All original hardware and pickups. I bought this 2nd hand many years ago, it was a fretless at the time, didn't realise until a few years later that a previous user had added the fret marker lines in and they weren't quite right. As I didn't have much use for a fretless and it needed fixing I decided to have frets added (professionally), in the right light you can still see the original fret marker that a previous owner had covered up but it's super subtle. Really nice action, nice low profile frets which feel great, only selling because I don't really play 5 strings any more. It comes with some DR hi-beams although they've been on a while so they're pretty dull. Happy to send over some samples or if anyones in the area they're happy to come and have a go. I can always throw in a case too. No trades, open to offers though.
  2. It depends what you want to send in the pre DI. I have tuner > Thumpinator > Compressor into the Capo input. This gets sent in the pre DI which is rarely used as a clean signal. For recording Id pop the compressor in the pre loop though. In the pre loop I have the OFF1 > Longsword > Model FeT (for now) Then it hits the Capo preamps. In the post i have the ditto for writing so i can do a loop and mess around over it with guitar etc. Then the main DI out. This works for general use, tbh the only reason my comp is in the input instead of pre loop is because it was slightly more convenient for cabling and I didn't care much 😂 In real terms though the pre DI never actually gets used outside me recording ideas at home. I've never found a use case for it at a gig though although naturally never hurts.
  3. Might possibly have a chance to grab one for £850 in new condition 😬 Thats not money I particularly had available right now but seems like a pretty fortuitous!
  4. Not sure what the correct term is but there's some kind of low end compression or something that I find very appealing which I've never really found on my GKs and other SS head etc in the past.
  5. Aye tbh I'll always have access to the VBA for bigger gigs etc as it belongs to the guitarist but its so overkill for most where we have PA etc. It's also incredibly awkward rocking up to a gig where the headliners have supplied a backline and plonking down a huge bass head that dwarfs their cab. Especially touring bands who are rocking pretty compact rigs, if it was my cab I'd be well nervous 😬 I've dropped a message via FB asking about pricing but has anyone here bought a WB100 recently? Any rough estimate on total cost? I had a scan back but could only see r400 prices i think. Gutted I missed one on here a few months back 😭
  6. Well after a lot of weighing up options and looking at some SS, hybrid and all valve amps I think I've settled on the WB-100 as my goal. I love the VBA400 tone but I think the main thing missing when I've tried other SS heads was that low end saturation. The preamp itself wasn't adding a whole lot of colour, much less than I thought at least. When I tried a different bass and took all my pedals out of the equation it sounded like a great valve head with plenty of grunt but not quite the game changer I thought, and certainly not enough to warrant hauling 40kg to gigs! The thing that really sold me on the WB-100 was the size when I saw an unboxing video on YT, it look's about half the size I thought it was. I knew it would sound incredible but the portability... 🤯 Now just gotta raise funds 😬
  7. I got a Radial ProDI cheap on ebay and its a great backup. Very fortunate to have a Jad Freer Capo on the board now which has a pre and post DI which is super handy too.
  8. @Ander87 snap 😂 With the Rockboard 3.0 i can actually fit my Hyper Luminal underneath along with the Thumpinator. This would give me space for a HX Stomp or GT1000core etc in future, I'd love a LEM to go with the OFF1 however it's just a bit much for the amount I'd get to use it. I was trying to get my head around how I'd wire up the Capo pre/post fx loops with one of the compact multi fx units 2 fx loops and my brain melted. For now this is a pretty great functional board for gigging plus a few extra bits for fun in there. Just doing a dry run before I start connecting it all up and it sounds monstrous.
  9. Hahaha yeah, these things and anyone with any personal experience of the VBA400 is rare so post revival is a must 😂 Yeah thats kind of where I'm at, I was keen on a Baby Sumo but missed two of them on here by a couple of days, you couldn't get much further from a VBA400 though! I was just curious as if it was in a similar ballpark tonally it'd be a good one to chuck in the van just incase if I could find a cheap one.
  10. Ooo interesting, I really need to find some sound clips to see if it gets close to the clanky goodness of the VBA400.
  11. Hey where did you get to on this? Our Vba400 failed us before a gig this week and wanted a backup of some sort.
  12. Supported these the other night and they were excellent, some pretty monstrous bass tones 🤘
  13. Tbh it completely depends what range you need, I'm ranging between clean, gritty and really clanky so I'm using Capo A side for my overall tone, B side for some extra grit. The longsword for everything beyond. I think its just one of those setups you just need to play and experiment with. I kind of landed on this and it just happened to sound like what i had in my head. I do need to sit with the looper going and just twiddle to see what kind of sounds i can get though.
  14. Thats a bargin, these things are subtle but effective! I noticed a huge reduction in clipping on my amp when I got mine.
  15. The main issue with the Capo is that it's so good at tone shaping it's a shame to use it as anything other than an always on pedal. Having the EAE Longsword for some obnoxious clanky drive on top is a great addition, I'm sure the Broadcast will fit that need perfectly.
  16. I've been doing a lot of soul searching about my current board, it sounds amazing but for a while I've really wanted to add something a little more fun like an Octave pedal or some kind of modulation. Thanks to @Ander87 I've become a little obsessed with the OFF1 and LEM, I was impressed by the videos of the OFF1 at the time but totally forgot about it. Hypothetically if I did get my hands on them I'd have to extend to the Rockboard 3.0 from the 2.1 I'm currently using. This would mean I could get the MOD bay and have the Capo DI along with in/outs and an optional expression pedal jack. Not super keen on rotating the pedals but I don't think theres another option. It also means upgrading the Cioks DC4 to a DC7 😭 Here's how it's looking: I use the Model FeT and Hyper Luminal always on, the Capo rarely gets touched but handy to have at the front. That leaves me with my Longsword 🖤 and potentially an OFF1 and LEM up front to play with (if I can find the funds and justify it). Planning a pedalboard is the worst 🥲
  17. If you have no complaints with the orange gear I would stick with them. Not spent much time with them personally but seen some ace bassists using them and getting some great rock tones. If you have an opportunity to try them out that's always gonna be best.
  18. Coming from a Warwick and lots of wenge and bubinga this feels very lightweight! 😂 I think it's pretty average though really, my Schecter J4 feels slightly lighter possibly. Ill be honest even with the upgrades/changes I still think my J4 is my favourite but this is now a pretty awesome backup for gigging or if i just need some punchy p-bass magic 🙌
  19. I agonised over sound samples between the model P, Nordstrand n4pa and Spb3/4. They were all excellent and i feel like the other two actually sounded better in the demos. The Model P however just sounded like it would instantly fit in my signal chain perfectly despite sounding less polished dry. It sounds great and with the Stellartone pot i can get some really nice scooped tones out of the box if needed The Schecter P4 Exotic is great, the subtle tobacco sunburst on the zebrano looks excellent. I've never liked sunburst but this is just right. Really love it, all black hardware is always the way.
  20. PS only had a quick play but the Stellartone b10 sounds great, loads of tonal options available which (to me) immediately sound more useable than just rolling off the tone. Can get a really nice smooth sound but still keep all the raspiness in there to a a little more life.
  21. And its done! Need to get some new matching black knobs, the EMG pots have a smaller shaft so they don't fit the regular 6mm CTS or Stellartone ones i popped in. Also still have to decide if i wanna plug the front hole or maybe pop in a parallel/series switch. Ive put crimp connectors on the electronics and its set up so i can easily add a dpdt switch without having to resolder it. Over did the amount of extra wire for manoeuvring so might clean that up soon at a later date! Sounds fantastic though 🙌 will try and post some sounds later.
  22. Switching put my Schecter P4 Exotic active EMG pickups and electronics for a passive Dimarzio Model P with a volume and Stellartone b10. This will leave me with a hole in my pick guard, was thinking of using it to fit a series/parallel switch. I know it's sacrilege but the slightly less punchy full range tone parallel gives with these pickups is actually pretty useful. It'd be a bodge but i could fit a standard 2-way dpdt switch although I'm really not a fan and find myself knocking them a lot. Anyone know of any low profile dpdt push switches i could use instead?
  23. As a general rule you'd typically put reverbs and delays in the loop because you want them after your amps preamp. I have a really nice preamp which I sometimes use direct into the amp fx return to bypass the onboard preamp altogether. It's too faffy to have as an actual setup for live (without everything in a rack) but I quite like running some light compression after the preamp to tighten stuff up too. Best option is to just try stuff and see what works, there's a whole bunch of ways you order your signal chain to get different results.
  24. Haha its a slippery slope! I think the one advantage of a deeper pedalboard is that you can put always on stuff out of the way where you're not gonna knock it. Also would allow for a little extra space between pedals, especially those with 2 switches as it's almost impossible to avoid hitting both when they're close. But yeah currently trying to apply some restraint 😂
