  1. Kind of reluctant to get rid as they're excellent but making an effort to stick to the Quad Cortex where possible. While the built in compressors aren't as good, I use them so sparingly that its hard to justify the money and board real-estate. Origin Cali76 Bass Compressor - SOLD Origin DCX Bass - SOLD Darkglass Element - £120 All with boxes and include shipping. Let me know if you have any questions! DarkGlass Element
  2. They're great, hopefully this means more ongoing support and updates!
  3. I use a Cioks + Crux, which is a little overkill but really handy as I also have a couple of pedals that benefit from 18v. It's excellent, though.
  4. Apologies for the picture quality! I've been meaning to try the ipad with the QC for a while as somewhat portable recording set up, handy now I can't use my work laptop for logic any more. First time I've tried Logic on the ipad but pretty impressed at how easy it was to jump into. I didn't feel particularly restricted compared to the full desktop version. Just need a way to mount an ipad stand to the back of my board and then I'm sorted 🙌
  5. That's ace, really tried but struggled to get anything dialled that i liked. I didn't have a filter pedal to compare with though which didn't help!
  6. It was an exaggeration of the cognitive leaps folks had spent a page discussing and the weighing up between a minimalistic set up that does the bare minimum well vs an elaborate set up that does everything.
  7. Good luck! I just like geeking out with gear, the QC has enough depth to allow exploration but without being overwhelming like I found the MOD Dwarf. The Nano Cortex is a great deal, I keep eying it up 🤣
  8. Ahhh yeah, our daughter is in her first year of school now, but it never seems to stop being expensive! Keeping the QC means I'm not spending a bunch of cash on pedals, though so not selling it is practically making me money surely?
  9. Hahaha yeah I'm very familiar with that! The QC does everything I need and is the first multi-fx where I've managed to dial in a tone that was almost exactly what I wanted within minutes of turning it on. In a side-by-side comparison, some of my separate pedals do just sound better to my ears but not enough to be a deal breaker, fortunately the QC has enough routing options that I can easily bolster it's effects lineup with a couple of faves.
  10. Aye, I'm mostly in the same boat here. I did buy a Cali76 and a few other bits, so it's not entirely GAS-free, but every time I switch back to the QC built-in stuff, I'm pretty impressed. My longing for expensive pedals is mainly gone and when I hear something I like, I can usually replicate a sound in the right ballpark via the QC.
  11. Yeah, that'd definitely be possible. Add a little spread and EQ and I think you'll have something usable. With all the parallel processing, the GTCore shines in stuff like this.
  12. Simmer down, it was clearly said in jest in context of the ongoing discussion 😂
  13. If I play with the QC too much and experiment I feel like I’m spending too much time playing with patches rather than playing bass/guitar. If I don’t spend time faffing and just stick to my saved patches I’m talking about getting rid of it because I don’t make the most out of it. It can't win really 🤣
  14. You can set the heel down tuner on a separate expression pedal, that’s how I used mine with the Dunlop DVP mini. I know there are a few expression pedals with a toe switch but surprising rare.
  15. What I would say is once you’re used to the Core interface, you can make edits really fast. It won’t care if you’ve got sweaty fingers or anything like that either. The one issue I had with the GX screen is that it looked awkward, like the touch is very low fidelity. It might not be like that in practice but I saw a lot of footage which looked like people were wrestling it a bit.
  16. Playing with assigning effect parameters to input level is cool too for some dynamic fx. There was a really cool video using it for an enhanced noise gate on YouTube but it works for lots of other stuff too.
  17. Yeah every time I see something new and shiny I'd get drawn in, the QC helps a lot. There's still a bunch of stuff like the Non-human Audio Slow Loris that I want to pick up despite having no practical use but I find it easier to say no before I get too far into the checkout 🤣 I really need to find a band ASAP so I'm more distracted from GAS
  18. I think the Stomp, QC, Core etc are all incredible and can be made to sound amazing. The QC is IMO the most polished in terms of UI and supporting software and the build quality is great (so far) but it still has weaknesses and things it doesn't do as well. The lack of an amp ctrl jack is really annoying as, unlike the Core, I can't control my Science Mother preamp channel remotely, etc, and it doesn't have some of the depth that the Core has with the assigns. If I could justify the cost I'd happily have both!
  19. I spent a lot of time digging in and playing with stuff. The reason I sold it in the end was that it got a little stale, compared to other products in the multifx/modeller space Boss product updates are glacial. Ironically they released a bunch of new amps a couple of months after I sold it 🤣 I also had a MOD Dwarf and despite its flaws, the capturing was great which peaked my interest in the Quad Cortex. Managed to find a very good deal on a 2nd hand one which sold me on switching. Both devices are excellent, out of the box, the QC just nailed the kind of tones I was after. While i didn’t have a major issue with the GT interface, it took a while to really get to grips with it. The QC was effortless, I only looked at the manual once to work out how to configure it to use as an interface. I do miss how pedalboard friendly the GTCore was though.
  20. Yeah I think that’s fair. I’m not in a band or doing any gigging at the moment. I do a little home recording which the QC is excellent for but realistically I could just use the NDSP plugins direct in logic for guitar and DI from my board for bass. That being said I’ve been here before with the Boss GT1000core, as soon as I sold it I got GAS for modulation, delay and reverbs which I don’t have any practical use for except experimentation. I’ve not spent much on gear since grabbing the QC which is a big win. Maybe have some stuff on the horizon that will let me test out if i really need my QC. For now its a keeper though.
  21. Its a tiny box of joy. Tend to find shift toggle up for bass and then dial in anywhere from light snarl to chewy wall of filth.
  22. I think I’m currently in a reasonably healthy GAS position with pedals right now. Every time I start thinking about needing another preamp or drive I reach for one off the shelf and give it a dust off. Just mixing it up occasionally is enough to quell temptation. Having the QC hooked up again helps too. Just need 2-3 drive pedals and a couple of preamps to switch between when I get complacentt keep things exciting. Dunno what to do about urges for new bridges and pickups though 🫠 GAS is strongest when you don't have a musical project on the go!!!
  23. Aye that's fair enough, I'm sure these will play excellent, especially for the price point. For me its more of a cosmetic thing, just really not a fan of single cut basses for myself. Yeah I can't justify getting a “budget” Dingwall, let alone one of their more expensive models!
