Any first impressions?

I find pick playing cuts through much better in a mix, especially when you boost around 1khz. Certainly the case for me in heavier music at least where the bass is predominantly a driving force. In folkier bands i play with i find finger playing is much more complimentary and creates a nice pillowy backline. Ultimately that's hugely dependent on the context you're playing in though, what other frequencies you're battling against and tone you're trying to achieve. What cuts throughout for one situation might just create a muddy mess in another.

I have a Fusion S 800 which is a fantastic amp, lots of character from a tiny head. I've used with all sorts of cabs and even through the BF two10 I was pleasantly surprised how well it kept up. It has a great range from clean warm tones to gritty modern distortion. Hard amp to fault! Don't get to use it much because the guitarist in the new band has a VBA400 which just sounds incredible, even if it does need 2 people to carry it! In all honesty if it was just me I'd be opting to use the GK purely for convenience but that all tube sound is really hard to beat!

Yeah I think after a lot of playing and rewiring my board every few days this is my favourite order/configuration. I think the reason it works well for me is that the hyper luminal up front with a low threshold and the FeT at the end with its tubelike compression gives a really smooth driven tone while still having loads of clank. I'm gonna keep the FeT, it just sounds too good for high gain to let it go although it's subtle and pretty sure not a single person listening would know or care 😂 @krispn its a greater pedal although if you're fairly happy with your setup it's unlikely to warrant the purchase. If you were in the market for a very high quality DI (or two) and wanted a very flexible preamp on top then its a pretty compelling buy. It's a high price for gas though! If I'm totally honest the Capo didn't quite end up doing what I'd hoped, I'd really wanted to consolidate down to a single preamp with a good drive. It's not a fair criticism of the Capo as I've come to realise its the power stage emulation and it's compression and clipping rather that the actual preamp section of the FeT which the Capo can easily mimic.

Well still debating the Model FeT staying on my board, it's so subtle but it just does something a little magical as the gain gets higher. I think it's mostly down to how in mimics the Model T power stage and adds a little extra compression etc. 3 levels of grit from light to heavy (Capo, Capo + Longsword, Capo + Longsword boosted), first bar of each is without the FeT and second is with it on. The EQ on the FeT are pretty flat and lowered the gain on both channels so by it's self it is pretty clean. I need help, I'm starting to feel like it's just in my head! 😂

Yeah, i think its a great benefit for recording. I think most gigs I've played if you gave FOH an extra dry DI signal to work with they'd give an almighty eye roll 🤣

If you put your fuzz in the pre loop it means your pre DI signal will be clean if you need it. As for the compressor I guess it depends how dry you want that pre DI signal to be. If I was using it for recording I'd have everything in the FX loops rather than in front of the capo (except a tuner) so that I'd always be able to grab a completely clean version for mixing or re-amping.

Aye it's pretty great, i use some pretty aggressive distortion/fuzz in a couple of songs and while the Capo LPF isn't particularly noticeable through the cab but the DI is perfect.

Theres no way to delete or hide a block that I'm aware of however i used to just shift unused blocks to the very end of the chain after the outputs. Itd be great if there was a way to hide them completely but I found that to be the next best thing.

I avoided editing directly on the pedal for a while, even got the WIDI jack so i could edit via the app. After a little time using the unit to edit fx I started to find it super quick to edit on. Now i can safely say I'd take the CORE screen/editing workflow over the Headrush etc with touch. Being able to run it off a single Cioks 660ma output is a huge plus too!

The clank style they described is pretty much exactly what the settings i settled on. It has a tone that's pretty Darkglass-like but without having that really recognisable Darkglass eq. Genuinely everything i try sounds great. It even plays nice stacked with other drives really well. My current dilemma is if I should get rid of my Model Fet. It still adds something incredibly subtle that I can't quite seem to pin down further than it making the bass feel thicker. I think if it wasn't there I'd probably never notice in real terms.

Yeah I think it cost about £160ish with taxes from the kickstarter, pretty sure its over double that without factoring in customs now. The key are pretty beat up and not sure I've got it in me to remove and resolder the key switches again so will probably look at a Cantor or Corne PCB next and just make it myself to save on cost!

These were really rushed and didn't spend any real time dialing stuff in but this is just my J4 into the Capo and straight into my Scarlett 2i2 and logic. It's pretty rough but just to try and show a little diversity. Barely touched the EQ or made use of the J/F preamp blends either.

Think this board is a keeper. Still just getting to grips with the Capo but love it so far. Polytune2 > Capo Then in the Capo pre fx loop I've got the Longsword > Model FeT > Thumpinator V2 > Hyper Luminal Toying with the idea of just having the longsword in the pre and having the rest in the post fx loop. Still on the fence about removing the Model FeT completely too but gonna need a lot of testing.

I've got a Thumpinator v2 on the board which helps a lot keeping the bottom end under control. I've also just picked up a Jad Freer Capo which sounds incredible so i think next step is to do some more AB comparisons at practice.

Had a play with some different levels of drive and grit with the LPF on/off: Only had about 5-10 mins fiddling but really love the sounds on this thing, it does super warm vintage cleans all the way to glassy distortion. I find lots of products claim that level of versatility but I think this actually gives it. In the sample it goes from bypassed, A side, B > A side, Longsword + B > A side and finally Longsword boosted + B > A side. Each with LPF off and LPF on. Not remotely scientific but a useful reference. There are some extra details on the soundcloud. I'm gonna have a lot of fun with this thing.

Hey! Thanks for all the replies. For a little extra context I think the highest I got the master on the VBA400 was around 8 o'clock so it's not being driven hard at all, gain on about 11-1 o'clock. I've been running it into an EBS 8x10, not sure on the specs of it but I'm confident it's barely breaking a sweat. Some of the tone is being helped by my Model Fet preamp although just picked up a Jad Freer Capo which is very likely to replace it permanently! Perhaps next week I'll try running into the FX return of the VBA400 and compare that with my GK, that should help decide if the tone I'm looking for is coming from the power section vs the preamp.

That's just the universe trying to tell you to kick back and play with your new pedal!

Snap! I also didn't get time to play with mine but build quality is awesome. My pedalboard is dismantled ready to try all the different signal chain combinations with the pre/post send. Gonna do the sensible thing and work that out before I commit to Velcro and cable ties for once.

It's incredible. I've always been firmly in the camp of not buying into all tub heads and favouring class d/solid state GK stuff but this think is next level. I did an AB against my GK Fusion S and was entirely convinced there'd be virtually no difference but it was night and day. The GK sounds great but it's just not the same.
