Found I couldn't quite get the action low so had to pop a little shim in. While I was there I popped off the pickguard to investigate incase anyone's interested. Not quite sure what the switches on the preamp do. On my 3 band emg it controls mid frequency I think. Not the neatest cavity I've ever seen but it'll do.

Why a single pickup, when you can have two?
MrDinsdale replied to Sambrook's topic in General Discussion
The only criticism I have for a single pickup is not having as many places to rest my thumb when playing the E string. -

Having finally got a p bass after exclusively playing j style basses it's quite liberating not having all that distraction of an extra pickup position. Tbh I mostly just have a blend of both pickups anyways that I stick with for 90% of the time. -
Really love the Fusion S, the it's so versitile and the OD channel is awesome. GK have a bit of a reputation for being a one trick kind of amp but I think they're heavy hitters alround, they just happen to really excel with that signature growl sound. The Fusion can get super warm tones though right through to brutal metal sounds. TBH the only reason I'm selling is because I got the GT1000core pedal, it's not on the same level as the Fusion S but it's good enough for my requirements and I can't afford to keep both. In an ideal world I'd keep them both and 4 cable them up so I could leverage the best of both but budget is tight! Never tried any Mesa bass gear so wouldn't be able to offer a comparison, always loved the look of the cabs though and some of my favourite rock tones have used Mesa gear. I've always though of them as pretty similar to GK in terms of sound?

The neck is my favourite bit, feels so smooth. I was always a huge Warwick fan, never owned one until recently when I got a 5 corvette. The neck is so much chunkier than I remembered. I still love it but I've realised they're not the ultimate bass I'd always built them up to be. A Warwick thumb with this neck profile would be pretty killer though!

Yeah if I get any freebies it'd be appreciated to offset having to fix it but it's not the end f the world. I certainly wouldn't send it back. The stock strings felt very light to me, I was convinced they'd strung it with 35-95 or something. Measured with calipers and definitely 45-105 though. Think the DR strings are just way higher tension. I'm being incredibly picky on the jack plate, I'll try grab a picture. It's just that it overlaps the rounded edge a little. I can certainly live with it though 🤣🤣🤣

Well I love this bass, all the punch I expected from a p with lots of tonal options from the preamp. It sounds much bigger than expected. The look is everything I hoped it would be. I do however have 2 issues. 1st is that the nut rattles a lot with the stock strings 105-40 Ernie Ball I think? Here's a sample - https://photos.app.goo.gl/bE28jquAUkkAAzvr7 2nd, which is so incredibly minor I think it highlights just how great everything else is, but this jack plate is such a poor fit for the body shape, a little inset one would've been so much cleaner. I've emailed the shop about the first as that's not something that could've happened in transit. Easy fix with a little veneer shim but shouldn't really have to do that on a £900 bass. Perils of online shoping I guess!

Love my Two10 but with my current setup I need something with a little more transparency rather than a more vintage tone. Long shot but looking to possibly trade for a Big Baby 2 or Super Compact if anyone has one and wants to trade? Obviously can discuss a little extra money either way depending on relative costs. It's the 4ohm version and hasn't seen much action as seen in the picture, if anyone's interested I can take some more pictures!

Well it's been a rollercoaster but it's here and I love it. Needs some slight adjustments to action and intonation etc but nothing too substantial. Sounds fantastic though and looks great. It feels odd transitioning to 4 string but I'm liking it, certainly a better fit for stuff I'm wanting to do. It sounds incredible through the GK Fusion S and Barefaced two10, lots of tone to play with. Happy customer!

Bass into the splitter, one channel through the preamp pedal and the other would go to the amp input and the FX send would act as the preamp output. Then back into the return from the splitter. 4 cable method, very cool but probably a real pain for quick changes at gigs etc not to mention the extra cables!

Power Amps? The what the wherefore and why?
MrDinsdale replied to FarFromTheTrees's topic in Amps and Cabs
If you're after a super lightweight power amp these seem to get a lot of love https://www.guitarsoundsystems.com/gss-baby-sumo-ampxlite-bass-guitar-power-amp-c2x21844846 I m contemplating getting one of these and having it on a pedalboard with my GT-1000core. -
Very excited! Will be a nice change to play a 4 string

PS Andertons just phoned because I'd enquired earlier when they'd be able to get another in, they originally said Dec (before I found one elsewhere) but their supplier had ended up with a spare so they'll have it in next week. If anyone else is looking for one of these I'd get in touch with them, otherwise it'll probably the end of the year. He said the interest over the last few weeks has peaked, probably because of the review Cici did.

Well ended up ordering one from Peach Guitars who had literally just got one in today and had an offer on 🙌 Not sure when it'll be here but probably near the end of the week. So excited!

Yeah sounds great, don't go out of your way obviously but would be cool to hear if it's no effort!

Well I was thinking about this bass and if I should opt for the BB 734a (which I can actually afford 2nd hand now) or hold until I can sell some bits and justify one of these. I think your first impression along with the other glowing reviews I've seen is enough to sell me that I do really want this bass. I haven't seen anything else that has come with a stock set up that I wouldn't want to change either for aesthetics or for sound. This just looks perfect, I don't even mind the goofy clover style tuners. I think that slim flat neck is the thing that all the other p's are missing for me. Thankyou for being the guinea pig on this one 🤣 Feel free to post any further thoughts or audio clips on here!

Please give a review once you've had some time 🙏

Awww this is excellent! Definitely going to order in the future when I've sold some stuff but thankyou for taking away the temptation 🤣
-
Right then, who bought it? 🤣
-
Yeah it's quite a departure from classic p-basses. I'm a huge fan of slim necks and I love active but I've been playing 5 string for so long now I'm gonna need some adjustment. I've seen a great deal on a Yamaha BB734a that tick a lot of boxes even if it's nowhere near as pretty as the Schecter or have the slim profile but it's a start. At least I can throw the Yamaha around without worrying too much, I'd be to nervous about dinging the Schecter.

Yeah I think the one thing that makes me a little uneasy is how drastically the price would drop if I did decide I didn't enjoy it and sold it on compared to some other brands. I could get a 2nd hand USA/MIJ p-bass for the same price and sell it on without loosing a penny. That price puts it inline with some heavy hitters. That being said I doubt I'd want to sell it on if it plays as good as it looks.
